About half an hour later he sent me a screenshot of an At Bat notification about Degrom's next start being skipped due to forearm tightness and said "I love this guy, but he doesn't have the stamina to go 145."

Degrom has said he owes his success this year to throwing bullpen 2 times during his off days sometimes even 3 which is unheard of for today’s pitchers. Usually they just throw one. So that forearm tightness was just a fluke and not a common occurrence. Honestly with baseball you never know too about injuries. Sometimes managers will have them sit and claim it’s a small injury just to pitch them in a more needed situation a couple days later. Degrom has an extremely durable arm. But yes 140 is still a stretch.

“Just a fluke” degrom is a generational talent. He’s amazing, but he is one of the most fragile players in the big leagues.

I believe he has missed three starts and/or been removed early multiple times over the past month. I believe one was shoulder and this is #2 for forearm. Becoming more common and not as much of a fluke in recent times.

By the time a pitcher gets to 110 he should be dead on his feet. You don’t see a complete game where the pitcher is not struggling for accuracy and speed by the end.

This is true of modern day pitchers because they aren't conditioned to throw more that 110-120 and are usually shut down once they pass 100.. However, if you go back into the 70's/80's and prior people would get into the 200's (Nolan Ryan) and go back into the 20's and there was a game where both pitchers threw over 300 pitches. I do remember Al Leiter throwing 160+ pitches in the late 80's/early 90's as well.

235 pitches in 14 innings - realistically - but he was throwing 96 at the time, not his usually 101 - that's kind of the point - if you're on HOF and facing Degrom - he shouldn't be throwing 102 after 150 pitches. Although I understand what you're saying, for the video game - what's point of relievers? What's the point of working the count? What's the point of seeing pitches?

I agree with 110 hitting yellow, and 125 is out of gas - anything more and that's just absolutely brutal

Degrom is 110 stamina. Not even 125 stamina. And whether he was either of those things - he wouldn't be hitting 102.

Yes but all of his injuries this year prior to this one were caused from hitting not pitching. This is the first injury he’s had this year that has anything to do with pitching.

Can we talk about how they’ve slighted him on contact ratings though?! Yea the stamina thing is ridiculous but his contact ratings should be in the 80’s. I mean he’s hitting .364! I mean his power should be low for sure but he’s been raking and he’s a pitcher! He’s a weaker Shohei!!

Stamina glitch with pinpoint right now.

This reminded me of Edwin Jackson’s no-hitter.

I don't disagree with you at all. I am a huge Met and deGrom fan but I think 110 is very generous for deGrom. Especially if we are talking about deGrom of this year, I think he threw at or over 100 pitch once this season.

not just degrom....it's just pinpoint pitching in general where the stamina barely drains

Anyone noticing how ridiculously long he's going? This guy I faced tonight got him to 146 pitches and he was still in the green, pumping 102 without issue. I faced him 5 times tonight, everyone used him for 130+ pitches and none of them had him in the yellow. Is this what we should expect going forward this year? Cards that can go 14 innings if you're impatient or 10 if you're patient like myself?

I'm fine with him being unhittable, he's unhittable in real life, but the fact that the opponent is rewarded for throwing 3-2 counts all game with still being able to use him as effectively in the 9th at 140 pitches is a little ridiculous.

I'm happy to go 3-2 against him today, took my own pitching performances to make it happen, and I understand these juiced cards going 100-110 without losing performance, but the third time I faced him was 146 pitches. Isn't that incredulous considering stamina can go up to 125 (his is 110)?

It's a glitch that probably won't be fixed this year. Pinpoint allows a sp to pitch 140 or more pitches and never go in the yellow. Cabrera can do it too.
