Long time Jays fan.
Would love a different card after today’s announcement. Or just remove the card in general. I love that The Show stands up for racial equality but it’s time we also stand up and stop promoting cards like this as well.
I know you guys paid for rights for this card, but it just sucks.
Not trying to start an argument but I don’t think this is worth a support ticket. There are other cards too that should be retired as well like the countless Chapman cards each year. But with this news and support from the Blue Jays head office I think it’d be right. I really don’t want to see the card in my inventory and it’s a no sell card so it’s just gonna be kind of bothersome to have him there.
I’m sure there’s others who are gonna speak up in a toxic matter so if this topic needs to be locked or removed I understand, but I’d like to see something done for this.
I want to respond with something funny.
I want to respond with something witty.
I want to ask questions like "well did you already complete the conquest, because of course that'd change the number of packs in it?"
I also want to tell you "okay, you win this one" in the case that you're right
I dare not say that it's a far stretch from changing gameplay physics and removing a few packs from a conquest.
But I'll settle for this: You realize it's their video game right? Like they own it and can do whatever they want with it?
You will 1 million percent hear the top level streamers mentioning when physics changed if they "secretly" change them. Just relax and enjoy the only game on the market worth playing. Or don't, and join a Madden league or some other sport that does not revolve around hitting an orb floating in with a stick.
Thought I'd pull this into it's own fresh thread and keep it updated as the year goes on. In the comments, feel free to leave constructive ideas to make this stuff better.

If you want updates on the tech, I'll post here and on my twitter: https://twitter.com/mvproduct - will also post a comedic view of my "half baked" team - which yes, will feature nice cards, but wanting to focus on a different type of humour. Will start streaming soon!
I am trying my best to stay calm and understanding. Coding is VERY tough. I am a developer myself, and although it's just web, I've dabbled in game code and I know that it's literally a needle in a haystack causing a majority of these issues.
But over the last week I've lost:
It's just kind of really really sucks. That's 10 hours of gameplay. I took time off work to play because I wanted to take this game seriously this year as I'm pretty good - I finished last season 98-53 in Ranked Seasons and never had the best cards or an up to date roster because I didn't have time last year.
I get everyone's idea of giving us some packs to make up for it - but when everyone gets the pack - that doesn't actually make up for anything. What needs to be made up is restoring the lost data if possible and if it's truly not possible and it's lost - you guys need to look into a storage mode to store results when the server goes offline and prompts the server to give the rewards when the server comes back online. It's not fair that my grinding (and others in the same boat) is getting lost is going to result in everyone getting a few packs. Not to mention my pack luck sucks, but that's just RNG. But theoretically there - someone is going to pull a Trout who had zero server issues, and I'm going to get my 14th Adam Engel as a thanks for my 10 hours of lost time.

Some here have said curves and 2 seamers are useless. Two seamers are designed to be used on same handed hitters, in on the hands. It starts away and moves towards the hand that threw it (right HP, the pitch moves right). They are incredibly useful for jamming guys up, but you have to know how to use them. Curve balls are fantastic, but you need to dot them at the bottom of the zone....after guys chase them out of the zone. They sit there all proud of themselves for not swinging, then...dot, strike three. Pitching is a chess match. Be smarter than your opponent and all pitches are great. But also to your note, the introduction of pinpoint allows these pitches to be used much more like they should be used in real life. So maybe it's more fine to bring back flatter sinkers and less slow cutters I've never stood in a batters box and faced a 96 MPH sinker high in the zone, so I can't say what that's like. But a sinker is a type of 2 seam fastball, and both feature a huge amount of spin. Lower arm slot creates more spin from your index/middle finger, and this spin creates the movement. The altitude of the ball being thrown does not change the spin or trajectory of the pitch thrown. A 7 foot guy and a 5 foot guy can get the same spin and movement on a pitch, thus the location does not change the movement. That's physics my dude.

Yeah I'm well aware of how physics works, thanks. Go check my other posts before assuming I'm a moron. I'm not discussing the science, nor is the others who are complaining. We're describing the visual of the optics.
In game, in order for a sinker to "sink" the way they have it programmed, it first "lifts" a little first and then dips. That lift, is not how a ball comes into the plate IRL.
I have received sinkers as a catcher and have also thrown them as a pitcher. Yeah, I don't have the dip nor the spin rate major leaguers have, but I can tell you that "spin" you're talking about doesn't involve the ball going up first before coming down. Therefore, the visual of it should be flatter.
Best of luck being condescending somewhere else.
Unfortunately there's no API for the offline stuff - only the online stuff. But I do have plans to work on an unofficial app for the online stuff. I am just finishing up the website first! Also finishing up a Twitch Extension for people to add to their streams for card lookup. You're right though - offline APIs would be great too, and would take a lot less management from their end.

I follow him on Twitter and a few months ago he said he was gonna do it because it gets more followers. The truth is, all these guys named above as bad dudes are that way because that’s what rallies their fanbases and puts money in their pockets.
I’ve personally wanted to stream, but from a different standpoint. I try to attack the game knowledgeably and help the community (I’ve made apps, a twitch extension, a discord extension) and generally try to help people in the forum, and when I’ve reached out to these top streamers to offer this stuff it always goes on deaf ears. They’re not here for the community, they’re here for themselves. I feel like even with the reactions CBrev still embodies that style and so I do find him the most respectable for the bunch.
The two streamers I’ve played in recent months I’ve beaten pretty good (BR, 3-0 and 5-0) and both of them spent the first two innings chirping me and the last inning saying “should we quit and switch to war zone, etc etc”
If they actually cared, they’d be in these forums helping people, answering questions, trying to help their opponents improve. But they’re not. That’s shown me everything I need to know.
After grinding a [censored] ton of conquest I have a working theory about this - it’s because of the hitter’s stats.
I have 7 diamond hitters and Harrison Bader. Bader bats 8th. Lately specifically I’ve faced a lot of Chris Sale; a guy with 80+ control on two pitches.
As we know from simulation there’s a pitch around option. I think the game uses that every time the stats of the batter are good. In other words, strikes are the “mistake” - balls are what the game wants. It wants you to chase it. Furthermore especially with moments it works great for them because you have to grind to get thru it. It’s not looking at the future. It’s looking at this batter, oh he’s really good, pitch around him and get the next guy.
I started the game, and put my controller down and started texting my friend. Thru those first 7 batters, Sale has 2 balls for every strike, 5 walks thru 1.2 innings. The strikeouts were on 3-2 counts with paint. Bader comes up. 3 straight strikes. I leave the pitcher in to hit. 3 straight strikes. Lead off hitter? Back to a 3-0 count, same with next guy, same with next guy.
Played three conquests with this method, same thing happened all three times.
When I subbed in lesser hitters, I started getting more strikes.
In short, because the stats are so good on the card (the batter), they choose to “pitch around.” After they were down by 4 they started attacking more, because in that situation you’d want to be pitching to contact/attacking because you’re already behind by a “bunch”.
Anyway maybe I’m crazy and need to go outside. Based on the decisions you can make in manager mode simulating, I don’t think I am.
Doesn’t work in moments because you’re locked to a guy, but if you want to get thru conquests faster, make a secondary team and fill it with shittier hitters.

Small update @collin_sds_MLBTS
I've never admittedly been "noticed" for my code before so I got excited when you commented and hustled. Hard.
App is done - going to bed but will submit it to the App Stores tomorrow. Twitch Extension is submitted and awaiting approval. Discord Bot for card lookup and card listings are done. Website is up but don't want to share it until everything else is live.
Will package it with a bowtie when everything is approved and send you the links here.
Thank you for the opportunity to do this. I'd love to discuss branding this with MLB 21 The Show Graphics and maybe remove the unofficial titles if you like them, it'd be an honour for this to be "my mark" on the community. I stream but I'm not the most exciting guy and I don't think I'd ever "make it" as a streamer. But if I can improve the community in the way I know best, and maybe even be able to add it to my resume in some way, that'd be incredible. I am fully self taught, have hustled for what I have in terms of clients and have worked my [censored] off for the last 10 years to get to what I am. Because of my lack of formal training I'm often overlooked in the industry.
Again, thank you for even noticing me in the midst of the fire your team has been working hard to put out.

Pardon what?
If a universal profile has no banner and no game history but has logged hours in DD (in his case, 611) they were banned.
Maybe you should look in the mirror with a statement like that.

I've played some of the top players in the game and none of them are that good. I really don't think there's a simulation aspect or that it controls the game to be honest.
I do know that quirks like situational hitter, etc, play a huge role.
Right now for me, it's just server stuff. The game LOOKS smoother. But rather than addressing the issues, they're hiding them. Last year, you KNEW the second you got into the game if you were dealing with lag. Now there's no way to tell.
Plus, 5 pitches in with any reliever and you can literally watch your own PCI growing. When the PCI grows, so does the timing window.
Also, the fact that you can't see their PCI results, but ALSO PAR is the size of the whole zone now, makes it impossible to pitch to the situation. Everyone's ERA's are inflated. It's fine if this is a hitting game. In fact, in the past, I've advocated that this should basically play like softball on all star - high scoring games. But that can NOT happen if the timing window is different for both players.
My biggest complaint is that the home team - which bares the weight of the the connection - gets the biggest benefit. This is the only game I know that benefits wifi junkies and people with [censored] internet. It's also the only major sports title that STILL does not show you how good the connection is to the opponent. Because I'm in Canada, I get more away games because I'm further from the servers. Last year two of my flawless runs I didn't play a single home game during the entire run.
I'm not cracked, I'm a fringe comp player who can be effective when the game allows me to be.
These changes to PAR, no swing results, and hidden lag benefits the bottom 40% of players and bunches the fringe guys like us into closer, tighter, stupider game results than ever before.
I was excited to get to the next level this year. I'm absolutely deflated 3 days in. First day was fine - defense was [censored] and I lost a lot of BR runs from it - not sure if that's because less people were on, or because "server maintenance and patches" weren't applied. But today was hot garbage. I've never been late on 89 in my life, and I literally couldn't hit anything over 95 now matter how early I swung.
Today has been horrible for it. I was 6x flawless in 300 games last year, and I'm not even 6-0 once in BR this year. But when I swing very early, it never goes through. They swing very early and it's a perfectly placed single in a perfect situation that scores 2 runs. And then the second I'm the away team I can't catch up to 89 mph. I don't even know how to describe how this feels right now.
This has happened to my friend twice today too
2x flawless here. BR is all about patience and strike zone awareness. If you're working pitchers deep into counts, dropping their confidence, etc. You're gonna have success. If you swing at everything they throw, even if you're making good contact, it'll be a quick 3 inning 9 AB game.
I think pinpoint is great - until you face someone who is smart enough to set up inside the zone, and then throws balls "near' but out of the zone purposely. At that point it becomes no fun- IMO - anywhere where the pitcher can pitch it, the PCI needs to be able to travel to hit it. If that's 5 inches inside, or 5 inches off the plate, that's the only way pinpoint pairs with a PCI system that works.
Lol I’m at an all time low here. Just lost to a guy who bunted 8 times with 2 strikes, landed all of them, lost 2-1. Capped a 1-5 night that took me out of HOF. Couldn’t hit because my timing was HOF trying to hit All Star. Why is bunting so impossibly easy in this game?
I eat souls with regular Riley in BR, .560 average over 150 ABs, so I can’t wait to grind for this card and hit .090 with him. Same thing happened to me with 84 Shawn Green vs 96 Shawn Green. .460 vs .040 lol. Including BR games.

They've had OP cards before, but nothing like this. Newhouser was pretty OP for most of last season but when you saw him enough, you knew he was bound to hang one. Adding extreme control to these fireballers, combined with all the other little issues that have gone unresolved, makes Degrom an auto-quit for me. I've said [censored] it to World Series, something I made last year. Might become a BR hero and try to get one of those fancy 5,10,25x banners instead. The worst part is whether they know it or not, they're going to lose people to Madden and 2K over one free card. Does framerate really drop with runners on? No wonder I suck so bad with runners in scoring position lol

On Series S, yeah, it's been pretty bad.
Just tried creating a stadium tonight that only uses 10% memory. No stands, no fans, the lightest weight of everything in the game. Can report back if interested if it helps.
You're lucky you got WS when you did lol. I'm totally fine on All Star, even against 102. But HOF Degrom with runners on would trigger epilepsy if I had it lol.
