The All Star/Derby Series makes every card irrelevant
-
[SDS has become to aggressive with these repetitive players having multiple cards, and now that we have players like Soto on Det as a diamond?!
I get it SDS wants to make money, and releasing players from the past is great but releasing these same players over and over and over and over with different ratings just personally ruins the grind, essentially all those who got Degrom, and raised him to a 99 get a kick in the face once these All Star series cards were released.
Ideally in the future I get that SDS only releases past players here and there, but instead of killing the live series players with multiple cards why not make a series focusing on a certain years team i.e. 96’ Yankees, I’m sure more people would enjoy the experience of having to grind for a “Yearly Team” vs 2nd half, post season, yada yada card that is already used in the game. The yearly team can focus on other players and give a lot of variety, instead of 6 cards of Babe Ruth, throw in a Scott Brosious, Paul O’Niell, Bernie Williams … like [censored] even give me a Jeff Nelson… SDS get in contact with me so we can work on this … stacking and releasing live series players and just making them Diamonds doesn’t make it worth trying for live series (speaking for myself)… the Parallel’s is one of the best ideas I’ve seen… but it doesn’t mean a thing now thanks to your All Star Series … it’s very frustrating but I digress
-
I agree with this to an extent.
-
Releases are out of control. On the one hand, kudos for all the content. On the other hand, the forced obsolescence of so many cards so quickly and the de facto "new meta" that will take place are bound to make RS frustratingly predictable.
I'd advocate a MUCH SLOWER progression of OVR's in the season. We should be in the low-mid 90's now, but the game is overflowing with 99 meta cards.
SDS is like an overindulgent parent feeding its children nothing but ice cream and candy. Of course the children will turn petulant instead of saying thank you...
-
By now anyone who was going to spend money on the LS collection pretty much has done so. So I disagree
-
Nah this content is great. Game was getting stale and now it’s certified fresh
If you’re worried about your old deGrom’s parallel being useless, who cares? Get the new one and start paralleling him
-
I agree with the the bit about the people who paid for degrom a parallel him to 99, but the bigger issue I have is the people that buy all these cards to complete collections and then they just give away cards for free that are better. Imo the division collection cards (finely, Goose, Hoffman ect..) should have held up way longer than they did.
Now some players flipped cards for weeks on end, saved stubs, played the game everyday, completed collection and there team is a 97 and some just turned the game on yesterday and will have a 97 overall team for free with little to no effort. It make no since to me and feels like it doesn't rewards the people who put in the time and energy.

I'm with you 100%

I agree and made a similar post yesterday. Way too many good cards all at once free for everyone. You could literally get the game today starting totally new, spend a day doing TA3, and have a team of 99s...
-
Anyone else remember 2018 when they unleashed the Immortals in mid-June and then everyone spent the next 9 months complaining about "We don't have anything left to do!"
Now, the complaint is "Cards we got at the beginning of the game cycle are becoming irrelevant."
Sorry, pick a side. Can't have both.
As for your "Focus on a team bit', there are a whole lot more downsides than there are upsides.
- In order to make it work, you'd have to sign EVERYONE which is a near-impossibility. (And for teams like the 2004 Red Sox who had players who weren't members of the MLBPA, an actual impossibility.)
- Even if Yankee fans would love it, I can think of at least 29 other fandoms that wouldn't appreciate a singular focus on one franchise.
- There's also the fact that there are some World Series winners that would actively repel more fans than they would attract. (Looking at you, 2017)
-
Well there is 1 really glaring issue with your suggestion.
PLAYERS RIGHTS.
The cards that are in the game are all based on SDS acquiring the rights to use a players likeness and name. SDS has to negotiate with legend players to use their rights which cost money and their would be a yearly budget on that from SDS
When it comes to players currently in the MLB they have their rights because of the MLB and MLBPA licenses so they can make as many of those cards as they want as their are no roadblocks with some minor exceptions.
-
The big TA drops only thing keeps the game going though. I hadn’t logged in for almost 2 weeks before yesterday.
-
With Degrom and Nelson Cruz, what could they do, Walker was added too late and Cruz was the twins representative… Same with the Home Run derby, they can’t control who is in it… It think maybe if they waited until Wednesday, you’d see Whit instead of two Sals, because now we have 3 diamond Sals and Walker over DeGrom… Also, TA 3 was made easier for new people picking up the game, so they could get a better team easier.. Not everyone buys the game day 1… And a lot of these people will play for a month or two and go to Madden… I understand the content for us diehards can be a bit repetitive and I think they could mix it up a little, but they really couldn’t do anything about DeGrom, they had to give him that card.
-
Im pretty sure Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and many more had alot to to do with MLBPA …. But yet here they are in the game… isn’t that a kawinkidink… and buddy trust me I can appreciate any franchise give me a Derek Lee card from Chicago Cubs, a Reggie Sanders from the Reds in 95, Jose Mesa from the 96’ Indians… like I can go on and on just from the top of my head… I get it MLBPA has to have consent for players to be in a game but wouldn’t we be in the same place now even if these old teams were missing some players who don’t consent/sign?
-
I love what they are doing. Give me tons of top tier guys I can use in my lineup based on my preferences.
-
Also just want to add most of the attributes on these 99’s are capped so what am I Paraelleling … Spell check on that one

Yeah that's the positive. I mean, personally, I really enjoy the game 10X better by playing with guys I like or am a fan of. That's why I never use any of the old legends etc. I'm a Brewers fan so you'll find me using 96 Braun over maybe a higher rated 99 LF. Also when you add parallel into the mix, Braun (for example) can go up to 98/99 as well.

Not who I'm talking about.

Waaaaa waaaa waaaa go play MUT for a year and come let me know what you think of the show. This is the only ultimate team version of any sport that does it right and this is my first year, your insane this is awesome you can have a life and also a sick team at the same time
-
You can't have a good team in MUT without constantly grinding mind numbing challenges, and I mean constantly grind, or spend 400$ a week on packs

But remember, good cards are only meaningful on paper. Teams win/lose regardless. That 90 Diamond gonna do as good as that 99..when it's time for the code to guide it along..and it will.
