Have you changed how you play 21 vs 20?
-
Last year was my first year playing DD. I played every mode, off-line and on-line. I did play RS pretty heavily. I was not that good, but worked to develop my skills and work towards Prestige programs.
This year, for on-line, I've focused much more on BR than RS. I get to 500 on RS to gather my free diamond. I don't think I'll ever get to the WS level, and don't want to beat my head against the wall.
With the change to the BR program this year, with more rewards, I find myself hanging out in that world a lot. I can get to the 100 point total in a month, short games, diverse lineups... I love it. I'll never go 12-0, but I can get to 8-9 wins per entry and complete most of the "missions".
I still do all of the off-line stuff (conquest, POTM, Topps Now, etc.), but for on-line, it's BR for me.
What about you guys? Any differences between 20/21?
-
Honestly the only difference for me is I actually find more enjoyment playing conquest and vs CPU. Mostly because I really love the parallel system they implemented.
I have to be on-call for my job some nights so it’s nice having something to keep my interest on those nights and not worry about having to quit out mid-game if I get called in.
-
I stay away from events moreso than last year. Sliders are aweful.
I've never enjoyed BR. It's awesome to offer the cards for cumulative wins and stats though. Keeps the market flowing without the 1m stub bottlenecks.
I'd like to stop playing on AS for ranked seasons. I'd rather lose 2 of 3 on HOF than have to win 65% on AS. The thing that chaps my cheeks the most about ranked is that I always seem to lose more points on a loss than I gain on a win. I don't care about my record. I just want competitive 9 inning baseball and All-Star isn't it.
That's it for now. I could write a book on showdown and moments, but it would be unpopular. They could go away forever and I wouldn't bat an eye.
-
I hate RS because I’ll reach legend and have to be miserable playing it. No desire to play a single game on legend. I get to 800 and stop
I play BR events and grind offline.
-
I haven't. I've shifted my focus away from RS and towards BR since being "stuck" at home in Europe because of the pandemic. I get joy out of that, win or lose. I'll dive back into RS and start to compete again once I'm able to go back to the US. Connections are a ton better when I'm there.
-
Im playing online a lot less, but it has nothing to do with the game. I usually only play online when I’m caught up on all the offline content, and I was laid off for a few months last year which obviously made that a lot easier.
-
I'm enjoying conquest more too, as a previous poster said. I always enjoyed conquest, but I never cared much for the USA map. I'm at 25 of the gold prospects, and plan to get them all. It's great for parallels, monthly programs, xp, etc. It's also great as a guy with a family. Too many times I start a RS game just to hear "Honey.....can you help me"

Most definitely there is a difference this year and seem to have improved my hitting game and it feels a lot smoother than 20.

Yea man I feel this. I love HOF but I hate playing on legend. Its just not fun to me. I really think SDS needs to consider adding a 3rd level of HOF difficulty. IMO HOF should start at 600. Spring Training has no business being on Veteran difficulty, so they could simply make all-star from 0-599. Once I get to WS I just stop playing because I have no desire to hang around up there once I get there.

You should try RS this year. I think the gameplay in the higher levels is much better than Br this year.

I play more conquest than anything this year, for some reason online has not been enjoyable and I have a winning record in ranked seasons.

0-599 - All-Star
600-999 - HOF
1000+ - LegendThat’s how I would like to see it if we are sticking with the highest rated player deciding the difficulty.

Ya, playing less RS than past year, doing more moments and conquest. The online play is frustrating and inconsistent.
Remember playing you last year, I was up and the last inning you come back and beat me. You messaged me after saying I should have won and all.
You are one of the good ones, keep at it and you will reach higher ranks!

I would be 100% fine with that. They would probably have to give out more points for a win or else Legend players will be mad about how long it takes to get out of HOF, but its definitely a start. Legend to me blows and only getting to play so many games on HOF before I have to start worrying about potentially playing on Legend sucks.

I agree I just hit 700 and now I’m like trying to savor my time. Milk it long enough before next season. Hitting 900+ basically just means no more RS til next season.

I played 2000 games in ranked last year. This tear 30. I only play the USA conquest map over and over to parallel cards....and I love it. People online suck.
-
Right there with you. Love BR this year and have got to 100 each season and hardly played LY. I max out Events and BR and then if I feel like it play some RS. I’m 18-0 but I stop playing before HOF each season. Not because I can’t hit it as if did fine in the HOF event but rather because this is supposed to be fun and those pitch speeds are stressful or at least require me not to have cocktails while playing. And yeah, not doing that….

I love the parallel's way more then the Ruby diamonds from last year. Whoever came up with this idea deserves a raise.

I didn’t buy the game this year for the first time since ‘16. While ‘19 was fairly enjoyable at times and I liked the content after the terrible product that was ‘18, ‘20 was a miserable experience for me personally, almost as bad as ‘18 again. I’ve still watched streams and checked the forum here to see how things are going, but it seems to be pretty much more of the same in terms of online play.
Any improvements that have been made (PPP looks great and I’ve long been wishing for a stadium creator) are negated by the unrealistic and at times seemingly random nature of online play, which is what drove me away from the game in the first place. Until they can do something about the core gameplay mechanics, the other improvements are not going to be truly appreciated. -

See what I did there? Hilarious.
P.S. We miss you.
