I got laughed at on Reddit for saying this a few weeks ago, and I'm going to say it again here- Zack Wheeler is going diamond this year, possibly with the next roster update barring a few bad starts. Another gem of a start last night, 7IP 2 ER 14ks. If he gets the k/9 boost he deserves he'll get him real close to 85 even without any other upgrades

I agree with this. He's actually been excellent for years, but this year he's upped his K/9 dramatically, while slightly lowering his already great BB/9.. he should be diamond already imo.

Sure. The rate he's going yup. Very little track record. Wasn't great last year, and pitched like a high silver in '19... Thats it.
Wheeler has pitched like a borderline diamond for years. And now even better -
He's not a white sox so it's a good bet he goes diamond

It was actually Brodie VW. He said Wheels wasn't worth 100 mil or something like that
A lot of blame to go around, but at the end of the day the Wilpons sign the checks and they didn’t have the money to afford to be big market owners. I don’t even know if Mets ever trade for Piazza back in 1998 if Fred is sole owner back then. I’m just glad Uncle Steve is the owner now.
And getting back to Wheeler if Syndergaard and Carrasco were healthy, it wouldn’t even be a concern to most Mets fans.

True. No Nelson Doubleday, no Piazza. Even Mike & the Maddog lobbied for Mike. I think it was a case where they knew they had to pay Conforto, Alonso, Thor, Jake, etc soon and could not pay them all, so letting Wheeler go was a veiled way of saying that.
