I just wanna know how they didn't see this coming with all the time they tested it. Do they all suck at the game over there? Lol. It just feels extremely unorganized and like they're just playing "guess and check" and that sucks.

This pattern they get into ever year with comparing changes they make to real baseball is so frustrating. Remember that stream they did showing clips of real baseball?!?
This is a game that is meant to be fun! Why not measure changes needed based on feedback from YOUR COMMUNITY instead of "user stats data analysis" feedback?
Was it fun? Yes. Is it fun now? No. Well that's all the feedback you need Brian.
The quantitative telemetry data is 100% accurate and unbiased and represents 100% of the player base. Qualitative feedback (from forum posts here and OS etc) has a high risk of bias and represents less than 1% of the players (on this forum it’s probably less than 0.1%).
But telemetry doesn’t measure fun. The community by a vast majority seemed to love the hitting at launch. Regardless of telemetry (especially since launch version was designed with both beta input and other play testing), they should have let the game alone because people enjoyed it.

Maybe just change some of those Perfect^2 HR's to doubles off the wall?
-
Hitting was broken at launch when any player with decent pci placement could pull outside pitches with "early" swings for homeruns.
Pitching broken because they made hitting your spots way too difficult.
Also obviously pitch speeds need a bump higher, but I would like to know how fast they feel on legend.

Honestly, legend played great. Speed is slightly slower than last year, but with the smaller pci, its been the only difficulty I've played in 20 where you could get by on the god awful pitching mechanics currently in the game. It felt like the most balanced difficulty, by far. No idea how it plays post patch though.

Over at OperationSports he made some in-depth comments. I've copy and pasted here. Why can't these guys engage like this on their official forums?
At a guess it’s because the percentage of forum posts that:
- are civil
- treat each other with respect
- don’t dispute facts that the developers present regarding gameplay and other data
- treat the development team with respect
- don’t belittle the experience and qualifications of the developers and their capacity to do their job, some of whom have been in game development for 20+ years
seems to be a much higher percentage of posts on the Operation Sports forum than said percentage on this forum.
Certainly not having a go at you, @MadderBumgarner, just stating this based on my observations over the last five years or so (back to when this forum was an open book bug report forum).

Ugh I don’t want to hear any of this. The fact of the matter is the game was FUN, like a video game should be and now it’s hot garbage
Exactly what i was thinking...we can all agree it was fun! Now every game i play is frustrating af smh TWO DAYS in just fix fielding bugs or meter/analog pitching...why touch somthg that was finally working?!?? Most of the people were playing on all star so it was obvious hitting was a bit OP...try to play on legend now good luck
-
And again...Madden and Mlb do the SAME thing every year, the game at launch is good but instead of trying to fix some bugs they start to touch what is working! I was legit excited to grind for team affinities cards...now i dont even know which card is worth lol just leave the game alone every year the same mistakes
-
that whole post made me actually laugh out loud

I can’t argue against the fact that many people voiced here that they were happy with the hitting, but again, we’re talking about probably less than 0.1% of all players are on this forum, and all of our forum feedback is biased (mine included) because of how we feel each plate appearance goes. And because we all congregate in the one place we are therefore not even a random sample of the overall player base.
Hence the numbers are the only source of feedback SDS can confidently rely on when it comes to hitting feedback. Our opinions and feedback matter, absolutely, but they are merely a starting point for asking “what does the data tell us about this thing that these people are saying?”
Or something like that.
-
Didn’t notice a difference in the hitting, maybe even got more success, couldn’t tell. But yeah the complainers are always heard, while the happy ones are not posting. Also, the « everyone was happy with the hitting » is bs, look at early posts and the complaints about HRs and scores... it’s constantly the same 20+ people that complain one way or the other

if you want realism take all those legends and diamond prospects out of your line up.

Why do you let trash players foul a million balls off they can’t recognize? It’s silly

We cant pitch differently to power hitters because we are penalized for using offspeeds more than twice in a AB with hangers

While I agree with you about the atmosphere of these forums going south over the years I think a large part of that is from the lack of meaningful engagement from the developers and community managers here that has led to it. I frequent the FIFA forums and it's the same thing over there. People are quick to turn on each other and anyone who mentions "scripting" or RNG gets banned. Which has led to toxicity.
When open communication exists you have much better dialog with the people who are passionate about a game they love and look forward to each year. Only speaking to a void (other gamers) it inevitably turns nasty because it's all assumption.
I know SDS will sometimes do long form patch notes, and they've since updated it, but with a simple "Increase to hitting difficulty in Diamond Dynasty." Of course the pitchforks are going to come out.
I think if Brian or someone from SDS had posted this info here it would have gone a long way and some, not all, would have responded with respect.
I think if SDS did a monthly "moderated" AMA on here you would see the attitude of these boards shift.

Look at the comments against the developer you quoted: they don’t believe him, insult him, throw shade, hint at conspiracy... no wonder they don’t engage much; [censored] if you do, [censored] if you don’t.

this is also the stuff that made pizza hut change their pan pizza from crispy and buttery to a pile of soft [censored].
