I thought that once the pitch was selected or meter started then they couldn’t press R2 anymore. My pitching has never been impacted by it. It tells you when they are pressing it. Just wait. Game may take a few minutes longer. Oh well.

Yeah, you're right, we should just let these trigger-fingers flick R2 constantly several times during an at-bat, nothing at all wrong with that at all, it's a lot of fun for everyone to wait until the spasming finger calms down. I'm definitely not pitching when that icon is flickering on and off because who knows what that will do to my pitch.
This ^^^^^! Once pitch is selected batter can no longer press R2 or R3 or step out of batter box or pause game with option button. Now do you understand how selecting pitch fast effects a batter? And you are the people against R2!
That is what quick pitch is not the slide step BS. You guys selecting pitch and making it where batter tools are not accessible! Good luck do the right thing SDS I'm out.
Edit Post to add: To all people that using "Pace of Play" as the excuse? I just played 9 inning vs CPU, i spammed R2 and pitched normal game went 11 innings. Guess how long game went? 40 mins Don't believe me search game history against Cubs and check game log! So 5 mins less than it calls for with extra innings so without extra innings probabally 30 mins. BS arguements!

stop making it sound like ervery1 who uses feature is spamming it.
Probably not but the feature itself is a spam device bearing zero relation to playing a game of baseball so there's no getting around that.
I've already agreed to that but so is quick pitching and nobody wants to acknowlege that. I have said if someone is quick pitching i'm gonna spam R2 only time i do it.
So what is the difference in the 2 arguements? Limit use of both istead of punishing 1 side by removing a feature when used correctly could be helpful and not doing anything about the other. That's where problem lies.
The difference in the two arguments is that 'quick-pitching' (which can mean a few different things in this context) isn't actually a problem the same way R2 even existing is a problem. By that I mean that a faster pace of pitching is something that actually happens in baseball and the batter has a few different ways of dealing with it. On the other hand, R2 is what...magic? I know we're talking about a virtual video game and it obviously isn't real but R2 is zero percent about playing baseball, and it's true purpose is obviously about affecting the pitcher in a way that can't be answered. Pressed several times during an at-bat, pressed when pitches are selected (which can't be undone). It's an egregiously one-sided, completely baseless-in-reality feature which 99.9% of frequent users abuse. There are other ways to display the information found when pressing R2, and probably more appropriate times in the gameplay for that information to be visible. You've admitted yourself that you spam the feature when you don't like the pace of play, so it's an abuse of a feature all the same, even if you feel justified because you don't like the pace. Certainly the two sides are not of equivalent standing because R2 is unrealistic and there is no answer back from the pitching side.
Quick pitching "IS" a problem if selecting pitch fast prevents people who are batting from using the tools that batters are given at thier disposal. Which is what quick pitching does. Plain and simple both are bad if spammed there is no in between. I don't understand how people can defend one and complain about other when both are a problem when spammed.
Speeding up pace of play is a "Cop Out" excuse. If you join a RS 9 inning you need to set aside 45 mins of your time b/c everyone knows that is the time frame to expect. If you want to play faster go play 3 inning modes. 9 inning games should feel like a game where people are allowed to use tools given, otherwise accomodate both sides of arguement and adjust R2 usage and Quick pitch usage..
I don't have a problem with time. I'm cool with playing at a good pace. I don't use R2 against opponents online and I don't pitch too quickly, but R2 gets used against me all the time. I could slow down, speed up, doesn't matter. It's just always being held down and I have to wait so I don't throw a meatball. I don't mind the waiting from a time POV as I have all the time in the world, but I sure don't want to throw a fat pitch if possible to avoid it. The real issue for me here isn't pace of play, rather it is that R2 is a fake spammy mechanic that actually can mess with gameplay. That's bad and needs to go. I don't really care if a small minority of players don't get to check pitch history every five seconds -- if that's what they're really using it for -- but sounds more like that's a surface excuse and the real reason is either to mess with the pitch or to just artificially slow things down in a way that would never be possible in a real game.
This here is why R2 is a problem. Folks are not doing it to [censored] off quick pitchers, they are doing it to fook up the timing on pinpoint pitching. Idc about quick pitching either way, but when its used as an exploit thats what the real problem is.

Serious question...is it okay to hold r2 at the beginning of every at bat to see how you were pitched in the previous at bat?
On this same topic, it is nice that you can see when the other player is holding r2. So, you can wait to start your pitch until they stop.
Except some do it as you wind up and if you use PPP, it screws up with your meter and you throw meatballs
First thing, once you begin the analog action for ppp, r2 can no longer be used. So instead of trying to pitch at turbo speed take your time between pitches. If someone is r2 spamming that’s the remedy.
WRONG. It can interrupt in PPP. Fakenews

"batter tools" = bat and helmet, maybe gloves (unless you're Moises Alou).
I'm not currently using PPP but R2 has been held down against me after pitch selection so def an issue. Visible this year with the no-pitch flashing up, but evident in '20 as well. So I guess the "batter tools" argument is pretty much kaput, but we all know most people relentlessly clicking R2 aren't accessing their "batter tools."

No this is why "Spamming R2" is the problem not use of R2 in general and when it's properly used.

Quick pitch has been an issue for 4 or 5 years so no it's not kaput. I have said spamming R2 is wrong. But getting rid of R2 altogether is not the fix.

If a pitcher tries to play at a pace I am do not want to play at, I have exactly 1(one) tool to stop him.
If the game is too fast fkr you go offline.
Seriously, just be ready. I don’t want ranked games to last longer because you want to pretend you’re mike trout or Derek jeter and go back and forth ten times on of it will be a fastball or slider.

I wasn't upset at you at all!
Just this topic and how they are not recognizing both issues only R2. Which leads me to believe the ones pushing so hard to remove it are probabally the Quick pitch spammers and with R2 out of the way they have a new way to cheese.
Ok, all good. You went off on your post about how no one mentioned input issues when hitting and I was like Umm I legit just did in my post about creating a 2 second freeze to help with this issue. It just threw me off when you said your done with the mode after my post, especially when I seemed to be the only one who attempted to fix both sides of the issue lol but I get your frustration, at the end of the day it’s an exploit that people abuse on both sides, I’ve been r2’d enough to be annoyed by it and I’ve been quick pitched enough times where I wasn’t able to change my pitcher, so I now try and give extra time to opponents before I throw the first pitch their pitcher (unless someone is a bunt dancing, r2 spamming, quick pitching, pause abusing tool) then I quick pitch their pitcher haha
-
I use R2 appropriately I believe I only use it if I need to take a look at where we've been throughout the at bat and like many I assume when the game is just starting and when a new pitcher comes in. I have occasions where I will decline using it so my opponent doesn't think I'm using it on him but I'm 43 have 2 kids and get distracted so I will at times go back for a second even a third look if it's a important at bat. When I'm pitching I wait and like to pitch at a slower pace on my own clock at the speed I'm comfortable it varies. I think its pretty easy to spot when it's being abused and it's also for me anyway pretty easy to identify when I'm playing someone who is just thinking there way through a game. So I guess my question is since I would assume most who play this game played real baseball and know it's not fast break basketball nor should it be Nomar Garciaparra every AB why is it such a big deal that even when you know your opponent is most likely just thinking there way through an at bat people are in such a hurry or is is for the speed pitchers the only way to be effective is to rush becuse of a lack of ability to out think the other guy or is it rythm I'm just curious

Also funny how most R2 holders have it so we can't message them. They can't handle the smoke, bunch of babies who never even played HS ball.
I mean most people use R2 to see what pitches were thrown and try and guess the next pitch. The issue isnt the player its the game
-
I guess my general thinking is if they just took out certain things that people spam or exploit then there would be no game at all. No R2, no high and inside fastballs/sinkers, no bunts, no baserunning (return to 1B on pitchouts or scoring from second on slow infield ground ball animations), or any of the other things people have complained about over the years. I haven't personally encountered someone spamming R2 yet but haven't played a ton of online games. I also don't use pinpoint yet so I really don't have much of a relevant opinion. I just feel it's one of those things that's not going away, and what separates the good from the great will be how players navigate it.

We talkin about two separate things here.
Im complaining and most others are because of ppl spamming R2 to interupt pitching motion.
Pressung and holdin R2 to checknpitch locations or pitch types is an entirely differwnt thing.
Try and keep up. Thats for the rest of you as well

Not true; if it’s used during the wind up/pitch specific movement of the sequence, the pull down part doesn’t respond and it’s either a ball in the backstop, a beanball or a fat one down the middle.
Yup there is a time during the pull down you can time R2 and mess everything up

I dont know what planet yall live on where the pitcher dictates the pace of play lol, do you even watch baseball, as a serial r2er idgaf about your breaking animation, balking cry baby attitude, the batter dictates when he is ready to be pitched to just like irl, you wanna take r2 away and balk home 7 runs a game, im down for that too lol

The batter does not dictate pace of play. If the batter takes to long to get in the box the ump will tell the pitcher to pitch. The pitcher dictates everything

Only low baseball iq button mashers complain about r2

Just have the pitches from previous ABs pop up like hot zones. Then all the dudes fake whining about that could see their pitches. Put the pitchers pitches on the right side down of the screen at all times. Why not? Hell put the batters stats there too.
By the way speaking of hot zones. Let me toggle that off too. It annoys me, I don’t use it and it’s more of a distraction than anything.
Nobody uses it for any purpose other than to try to mess with the pitchers.
Lol quick pitching. Online games take like 45 minutes. Y’all want it to take longer so you can do the downward dog yoga stretch before each pitch? Gtfoh.
It should 100% be removed. It’s time for SDS to get that done and appease 90+% of their player base.
I 100% these are good suggestions for QOL and actually do believe SDS plays their game. Give it a shot I bet y’all love it.
Glad I didn't go straight to the bottom to type my thoughts, cuz this exactly. Just make both the batter and pitching screeens the same.
