If you want this game to be played like MLB then each game should take at least 3 hours to play. This is a Video game. You should be ready to hit and if you are not ready to hit then why even play the game. When I pitch I select my pitch select location takes less then 2 seconds and then still have to wind up to pitch. If you can not be ready in that amount of time and have to hold R2 that just sad. If you push R2 for other information and not doing it every pitch of every battter then no need to discuss this topic. This is for those who do it to the full amount of time for every pitch to every batter.

I’m a former WS player and consistently over 700. I’m not great but I’m not terrible. I have NEVER ONCE in 5 years of playing this game used R2 to see where I’m being pitched. If you don’t know where you’re being pitched just pack up and quit! Find another game.
When do we see the thread for runners taking extra lead and pitcher stepping off mound repeatedly to counter?

What exactly is wrong with a pitcher working quickly and how is that anything but a good thing? I use R2 a bit because there’s some useful info there, but once you’ve gathered that info, let’s play the [censored] game. It’s not like you’re a real hitter in an actual MLB game. What are you possibly doing with that extra time when you’re holding R2?
Exactly and in a real game the pitcher does not have to wait for a hitter to be ready. They can quick pitch all the want as long as the batter is in the box and ump is ready.

Do you watch baseball, The pitcher pitches when ump is ready, The batter has to call time and even if batter calls time the ump does not have to grant. I dont spam it but I do use it at the beginning of every at bat on the 2nd/3rd time through the lineup to see the last pitch sequence the batter saw. I also like the fact they added the ability to see when your opponent is holding r2.
Why do you need to do this? push pause and see it that way.... BTW you should probably know by the 3rd time through the lineup what they are throwing and how.

They put an indicator in the game this year during the person is accessing either R2, R3, etc... So there's a stop sign showing you you can't pitch. It's not cheese anymore.

How does holding down R2 / RT (on xbox) keep them from fast pitching? I don't get it....
They can't go into windup as fast. Quick pitching is the problem not R2 majority of players that R2 Is b/c quick pitching is the cheating method R2 is the preventer. People are trying to flip it around and blame R2. It's simple if they don't quick pitch i don't hold R2.
The counter to R2 is stepping off the mound every time
The problem is, depending on the timing, sometimes you cannot step off. Players that use R2 as an exploit know this and do it to mess up their opponent’s timing so they get meatballs.

If you use it all the time you're a douche
If you think it should never be used you are also a doucheAcceptable times are - At the start of an inning to quickly look at pitch selections, energy and/or pitch confidence

Holding R2 and pressing R2 at the right time especially vs pinpoint pitching to screw up the pitcher is two separate things.
There needs to be just one click of R2 per at bat. My two cents Problem solved.

Yeah, I had this problem last night, I did not have that issue over the weekend. I played two people last night back to back just holding and pressing R2 every pitch. I was not even QP. I do take a few second to get my location set.

People do it to throw off the timing of the pinpoint control making the pitches less accurate. It's definately a cheat. Get better at the game. Lay off pitches and crush mistakes like the normal decent players.

I'm not completely certain everyone is talking about exactly the same thing when 'quick pitching' is referenced, but whether it's a snap throw to the plate (impossible in the game but probably what's meant in real life) or a relatively speedy turnaround between pitches (due to no balks) at least both of those things are grounded in some kind of reality. In other words, baseball could decide to do away with balks and you could have real life pitches without pitchers coming fully set. My problem with R2 is that it's so artificial. The batter freezing the pitcher? I'm ok with it against the CPU if the pause button is too far away, but human vs human competition, it's too weird of a factor. The pause button is bad enough but at least that's both people temporarily immobilized even if one person started it. R2 is just so blatantly one-sided. As a pitcher in online matches, I don't love it much when the batter steps off or shows bunt a lot or whatever, but I deal with it. The batter should also have to deal with it (step off etc) if the pitcher is quick. Both sides equal. R2 is just too skewed to one side for me to ever get behind it, even if I completely get the stuff R2 supporters are talking about. Because you know something? I do get it! Do you think I've never faced someone online who didn't come set and fired some pitches in with runners on base? Of course I have. It sucks. But purposefully holding down R2 over and over still seems super weird. The only baseball solution would be to turn balks back on, if we're keeping things somewhat in the realm of this being a baseball simulation.

So when you are driving and there's a massive stop sign in front of your face what do you do?
It's not cheating to check the previous AB pitch sequence or current sequence in a long AB, when a giant stop sign is displayed telling you a player is accessing it.

no it is cheating when people use in the middle of someone trying to do their pitch sequence and it stops in the middle causing lag and pinpoint control to mess up so yes it's cheating. I'm guessing you don't use pinpoint to even know how it messes you up.
