Imagine needing a safe space because a card was in your inventory. You don't have to use it though and it can be buried by getting better cards...
Seriously no one even knows what he allegedly did so who the hell are we to judge?
I didn’t say safe space? We have pride flags available in custom stadiums, Jackie Robinson on the cover and a huge banner in MLB 20 for a month commemorating BLM. I’m asking all movements to be equally supported.
I wish all "movements" were left as being neutral when it comes to corporations, and let individual people support the movements that they hold dear to themselves and their friends. This is a baseball video game, I don't need their stance on the latest social justice activism movement of the week. Heck, I come to video games to get away from that background noise.

As long as we dont know what happened,
As long as no charges are pressed,
Then removing him is exactly that, cancel culture.
MLB is not law court.a business has the right to cut ties with their employees if they find that theyir employee doesnt represent them the way theyd like. this isnt cancel culture. matter of fact the public didnt even know anything about this to even call for him to be cancelled. MLB received the evidence and they made a decision. simple as that. if they wouldve banned him based off of public outcry then I would agree with you but this isnt the case.
It just concerns me that you, and so many others, are willing to just accept that this man is guilty of something when you haven’t been privy to any evidence of wrongdoing.
it would be Naive to think that MLB banned him with 0 evidence.
No it really wouldn't be naive to think he was banned with 0 evidence in 2021. People have lost jobs over accusations. People have been dragged through the mud by the social media courts over hearsay. Like i said earlier, Manfred is [censored] that will avoid confrontation. If nothing was done, if the investigation came up with nothing, there would still be people calling for Alomars head on a pike over accusations. Manfred was gonna get rid of him before any investigation happened because he wouldnt want the backlash that follows.
What people? what you are saying is 100% anecdotal and makes for very weak rationale. This is a billion dollar corporation, you really think they are gonna just randomly decide to ban a HOF over an incident that happened in 2014 and hasnt even been made fully public before today? If you really think this then theres literally no point in talking with you. The fact that the woman hasnt even gone public with any allegations should tell you a lot as well.

i agree but when theres money involved you have to expect businesses to try keep their image as clean as possible.

Ty Cobb did much worse. Pretending Roberto Alomar, Jr didn't exist... what are you going to do for the 1992 Blue Jays? Have a random guy in his spot? Pretend he never existed?
Heck, might as well just re-award the World Series Trophy to the Braves....oh but the term Braves probably offends a huge lot of people. Nah...best thing to do is to all just declare everyone in the world is mean and evil and nobody in the history of people is worthy of anything.
-
Don’t remove him
-
If the third-party investigation caused the MLB to cut all ties, The Show will probably follow suit soon. Selfishly, I hope they replace the card, since he’s my starting 2nd baseman.

Keep the card in game until the courts find him guilty. MLB is probably trying to be proactive and cutting ties with him regardless what a court would find. I remember when Kobe Bryant was accused of rape...glad NBA didn't jump the gun and axe him from the league before trial.
The notion that people shouldn’t be held responsible for wrong doings unless convicted is not the best take.
Every situation is unique. Ray Rice knocked out his girlfriend on camera, no conviction. Joe Mixon threw one of the most vicious punches on a girl, no conviction. Kareem Hunt kicked a woman...it was stupid but didn’t appear too violent....no conviction.
Kobe wasn’t convicted but didn’t be settle it out of court?
Even some people get convicted (Vick) and still are welcomed back. He ran a dog torture operation and was part of the torture and admitted it. He returned to NFL and is a host.
My point is: it’s not a one size fits all situation. Kobe and Vick were so popular their demons were forgiven. Tiger Woods gets a pass for all of his sins. People don’t even talk about Deshaun Watson much on the main stream.

The hit job on Cobb was crazy.

What movement is this supporting? The "lets jump to conclusions and judge someone with absolutely no facts about the situation" movement? Sexual misconduct can mean anything from telling a woman she looks nice today to unwanted penetration. Pretty sure its not the latter because he would be getting arrested right now. He's not being removed from the MLB HOF as per their statement so i think its safe to say that it was nothing violent. Again, who are we to judge? If you dont wanna use the card, dont. There are better 2B in here so buy them up and bury him. You literally dont have to see this card at all unless you intend to go to your inventory every morning to stare at it over a cup of coffee.

And actual brave women can come forward, be publicly identified as accusers of a sitting governor and none of the hyper offended over consumers of soy show up to demand his resignation. All of this garbage is about ideology.

Oh the typical what about so and so argument. Clever.

I'm typical but the comment I responded to gets nothing? Typical inconsistency exposed again.

Rice - never played another down after the video.
Mixon - happened in college and was convicted I do believe. But to his defense, the girl assaulted him first, spit in his face, and was called racial slurs. I'm sure alcohol didn't help the situation.
Hunt - girl never pressed charges & was suspended 8 games.Kobe cheated on his wife. The accuser was a basket case who was schizo. She also had [censored] with a bunch of dudes after the encounter. She didnt want to testify under oath. She was just looking for a pay day.
Vick never killed/hurt people. Unfortunately, animals are considered property, not people. So, in the court of law, it doesn't look as bad. But he did serve time in person and lost everything.
Woods never hurt anybody, just had [censored] with anything that walked.
My point is: If you're still playing and decent at it, you're going to find a job again at some point. If you're retired, it's easier to just cut ties and move on.
-
Just switch him out for a Lou Whittaker or a higher end joe Morgan and I’ll be ok
-
Agree with everything but the Mixon note. He was not convicted I think she got paid. Also she vehemently denied racial comment while admitting she did slap him. Not sure if you saw the video but oh my word that was the most vicious punch. I don’t think a reasonable person would view her as any type of threat. Mixon didn’t comment on it again, other than I think saying he had a meeting with her where he apologized.
That punch will always be burned into my memory. Broke several bones in her face....

I haven't seen the mixon video since it came out. So my memory is a little blurry about it. But i know he reached a plea agreement with the cops. I assumed that means he was convicted. Personally, the girl should have been charged as well. I don't think he would have punched her if she didn't slap, spit, and call him racial slurs.
-
It’s a card in a video game. Just use someone else at second base and move on. Do we really need to organize boycotts and movements every day?
-
Thats it. Lets just cancel baseball too due to its racist past
-
Sounds a bit like guilty until proven innocent. His off field behavior prior to retirement shouldn’t effect his accomplishments on the field. One is not related to the other. If you don’t like the guy don’t use him no need to ruin it for the rest of us.
-
There have been rumors about Alomar dating back to his playing days. I am surprised that the accuser is a lady tbh since I figured he was the Met I suspected which led to Mike Piazza's insane press conference.
