@GrizzBear55_PSN - you the same Grizz that's been posting here for years man? Just wondering...
Uhmm... no disrespect man, but today is launch day. Meaning public initial release date. Don't believe me - no worries - do a google search "mlb the show 21 launch date".
Just saying - today is launch date. This mode is broken, by the measure of the very words posted by the dev team in that blog post. You cannot progress your RTTS player by playing RTTS and only RTTS. And no, I'm not feeling like I'm being ungrateful. I payed a solid $85 for the Jackie Robinson Edition. It's not an unreasonable expectation for me that I expect for $85 that SDS deliver a working game in one of the primary game modes on release date.
No disrespect to you personally man - but if you can't see that aspect of it then frankly i think you've spent a bit to much time as a SDS fanboi.
Moose
Blog referred to early access experience. And most threads were before yesterday and that is where it started.
Call me a fanboy all you want! I'm proud of it better than supporting someone like EA or 2k.
you do know SDS isnt very far off from EA and 2K. its pretty obvious that SDS is trying to follow both EA and 2K in a lot of different ways. Not saying SDS will be as bad as EA but they're trending in that direction. especially with no direct competition.
You keep saying "you do know" and "you do realize" in reference to SDS i've been supporting them since 2010, it's you who doesn't know or realize how hard these guys work for the fans when things go off kilter. You are the one who has probabally only started playing in recent years. And you are real close to getting blocked b/c i'm very annoyed by the constant negativity without any acknowledgement of what is good about the game.
been playing since 07 and witnessed how SDS has evolved over the years for the worst unfortunately. Ive always tried my best to remain positive about this game but when they make the same mistakes over and over its hard to defend. i am sure they do work hard, im not knocking that. But when your hard work still yields mixed results at some point you have to revisit how youre going about your job.

Why is it a future update? You have know that this mode essentially cannot be played at the moment since early access began. It is still unplayable at launch. Why do we have to wait for a vague “future update”? If your game mode does not work you should make sure it does by launch.
I am willing to give them a little slack on this. Finding the cause of bugs and implementing a fix is not some magic switch that they can fix, but the progression bug needs to be a top priority and need to be fixed as quickly as possible (Like days - not weeks).
I don't think some people who complain about the mode are even aware of the Archetype progression system and therefore are not aware that it is broke for so many of us. They simply think progression is too slow.
There are plenty of other issues with the Ballplayer system but the progression bug should be #1 on the list of things to fix.

Winner winner chicken dinner!

They broke the progress system with first patch I’m pretty sure that’s about the time I noticed it not working. To bad we can’t just roll back the patch. That is what we do in the IT world when you have a bad release on a change, you roll it back until you can fix the issue and redeploy.

I am past complaining about the design choices. That stuff is done and nothing is going to change, at least not in the near future. I am just trying to make the best of the mode and have fun but that is not possible when the progression is 100% broken. I agree that it is no magic fix, but I do not give them slack here. On launch day I expect to be able to play my mode. I don't care if they had to work 24 hour days for the past weekend. When you become aware that one of your major modes is not playable a few days prior to launch, you do everything you physically can to make it ready and if it is not, you delay the game.

Lets also not forget they had an extra month in their dev cycle than they usually do. release was pushed to mid april instead of early march in years past

The fact of the matter is, not only is RTTS broken but essentially all modes linked to BALL PLAYER progression are broken. I completed 1st inning Diamond conquest in DIAMOND DYNASY and didn't receive a single task reward in RTTS BALL PLAYER. After grinding out over 50 hours I should have gotten the task rewards available to me for all game modes and I did not. We all paid alot of money for this game ($100 for early access and bonuses) not for a beta test. Now the game has officially launched and these things are still broken. I love this series and this developer but this is unacceptable. It wouldn't and isn't acceptable for 2k or EA or more recently CDProjekt Red and it shouldn't be acceptable for SDS. These studios have been given a pass on soft deadlines for far too long... Nobody would buy a brand new car without seats in it would they? Oh but BMW didn't mean to mis-manufacture the cars. Pissing and moaning is one thing but holding them accountable is another. Nowhere in that statement did I see where they mentioned the COMPLETELY BROKEN progression system or the COMPLETE LACK OF TASK TRACKING. Honestly, there is so much wrong with this game right now it'll be a month before it's fixed.

The fact that they are content to lump in fixing the broken fundamentals with the other stuff like adjusting training xp gains is telling. The broken foundation needs to be fixed now, the other stuff can wait for some future update. It is a complete lack of understanding their priorities.

You literally have to weigh out what parts of this game you're will to waste your time on... I'm playing because I enjoy the gameplay but the feeling of wasted time is frustrating

Well, I understand that complex technical issues definitely can be hard to fix. And to @SGMRock_XBL 's point - sometimes you can't roll back because there are times that what you implemented that first patch for was more important than what was inadvertently broken by that same patch.
Professionally, I manage a large number of complex web systems for hospital system. It's not an understatement to say that I work hard. It's also not an understatement to say that if I make a mistake then people may die. The systems I am responsible for are critical to patient care throughout the hospitals in our organization. I totally understand working a complex issue and doing so under extreme pressure.
That said, I don't feel like it is in any way inappropriate to point out that SDS has well and truly "screwed the pooch" with this release. I'm not sure that I like the design choice of the "universal player" and trying to manage different "loads" depending on what you are trying to do at the moment. But I can't even give it a fair try because it is so badly broken at this time.
Again, SDS has said that "a RTTS player should feel like they can freely progress by playing RTTS and only RTTS" and this is absolutely and categorically untrue as of today, 4/20/2021 - which is the general release date (not early access) for this game. Anyone who has paid full retail price for this game, especially those who bought the game principally for the RTTS mode, has every right to be upset with SDS for the quality of this title at release.

The fact that they lumped them all together in one blog post does not mean they will all be implemented/fixed at the same time. I fully expect the progression bug to be fixed long before those other items are implemented.

I also want to point out that, once again, the DD community market is getting an update as we speak. Can't buy and sell on the community market? OMG that is a fix that needs to happen pronto! Can't make any progress at all in one of the major game modes rendering it unplayable? Eh, we will get around to it in some future update or something.

I think the universal player feature is awesome... If it worked like it should. Alot of people said to delete all but one loadout and back out to clubhouse after every game to reset it. It worked at first but now I've notice that when I change to a pitching loadout just before starting a game I'm scheduled to pitch my team changes the lineup and I'm either DH or SS. So I have to close game and open again. Thankfully PS5 has fast load times

Majority of people who buy this game play RTTS that is facts produced by various outlets over the years. So this misconception that they pay more attention to DD is proposturus. As far as the market goes that is real money and it should be a top priority as well.

Agree 100%. I dont doubt hat the SDS guys work hard bc im sure they do. But if you consistently underperform in a certain aspect year after year then maybe you just arent good at what you do. either that or a mismanagement of resources IMO

Agree about progression system. When it does get fixed i have no issues with starting RTTS completely over.

Is it not obvious that DD is their bread and butter in terms of money making? why else do most of the promotional materials and marketing refer to mostly DD in some way. As well as all of the ore order bonuses are all related to DD. Youre right that most people play RTTS and MLB the show kind of pioneered the create your player experience way back in the day but we are a long way off from that.

The $100 bills they received from every copy sold is real money as well. I understand that they should fix transactions first but don't downplay one person's money over another's. From what I understand that has been or is at the very least close to being resolved. And I'm sure that doesn't take all hand on deck to accomplish.

They obviously pay more attention to DD. Every single patch that has come out so far has been geared towards DD. Every year the mode with the most attention is DD. I get that those issues need fixing too. But "I can't buy or sell things on the community market" should take a backseat to "I can't play RTTS because my progress does not count."

maybe thats what SHOULD happen but it wont. bc DD is where they make their money and the market is vital to that. Also says a lot that the only thing that either collin or victor have commented on here recently is the market issue
