Sounds of the Show 21

Any news on this? Or can someone update once they get the early download? I really like playing the walk up songs and in between innings music.

The studio is being very silent on this. It doesn't give us a good feeling. I'm hearing rumors only the PS4 version gets SOTS this year. If so that's another huge disappointment to those on next gen.

It's officially only a PS4 feature. Such a garbage move by SDS. This should be on PS5 as well and they should say something on a stream but haven't.
"Sounds of the Show is available on PlayStation 4 consoles. On all other consoles, players will have 3 slots to set the Walk Up music, 1 slot to set the Home Run celebration, and 3 slots for Pitcher Entry music. Players will not be able to upload your own music on PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox X|S."
See link below and scroll down. They've updated it with the above quote since someone screenshot it earlier. A huge disappointment for those who have already upgraded. But at least most are still on PS4.

This is mega disappointing. I didn’t use SOTS in 19 or 20 but I was going to start playing franchise again in 21 and was looking forward to using my own music in the game again.
Disappointing because of the lack of transparency about it right up to sneaking it into the FAQ two days before release.
Also disappointing because it’s yet another feature removed from the game’s core mode. Add it to the list.
Let’s hope there’s some transparency about why it was removed and the future of the feature.

I remember it was missing from 14 when they made the jump from PS3 to PS4. Hopefully they will find a way to implement it into next year's title on all consoles.

Well good for ps4! Since they don't get Stadium creator i feel it is a great balance!
As one of the fans from the Era that pushed for Stadium Creator you don't see me calling SDS garbage move for being on next gen only?
People need to realize how big of a task getting game to cross platform and dealing with next gen features like Stadium Creator, New Controller effects, Vlogs in RTTS, and while doing this dealing with covid was.
It was probabally something that couldn't be configured in time. Like someone else mentioned it was missing the year of ps3 to ps4. Although i do expect them to do everything in thier power to make it available for everyone in 22'! Unless next gen doesn't even have music download or upload option?

I haven't followed any Show news this year, but this the first bit I see and it's massively disappointing to me as a PS5 owner. It made franchise mode so much more immersive.

You can't actually copy media files to the PS5 the way you could with the PS4 can you? I only see options for playing music or videos from USB. If Sony does not allow media files to be copied to the PS5 then maybe SDS' hands were tied.
As for the streams and videos they are all strictly marketing and should be regarded as such. Even when they had longer live streams with chat interaction they would ignore many topics. I am not sure why people expect these shorter pre-recorded "streams" to be any better.

System limitations aside, why not be up front about it then, by putting it in the FAQ earlier? News like this would go down smoother if it were disclosed more than two days before release, and in a way that doesn’t seem like it’s being covertly slipped in to the existing FAQ. Y2Y saves are an example of a removed feature that whilst a lot of users are still angry about, many have accepted that it is probably necessary for the game to get better (although due more so to the community speculation of the reasons rather than from the devs).
It just seems to be yet another feature that most existing players will find out has been removed after buying and playing.
If it is indeed a PS5 limitation, maybe they were waiting for the PS5 system software update to see if playing music from PS5 storage was included...
Perhaps SOTS is written into the game but just disabled. In fact, that would make the most sense and is likely the case. Hopefully we won’t have to wait two years for its return.

Funny, in 2014 the issue was the system and they told us upfront. They didn't hide the issue. And they worked a fix before the next year. If it is a system limitation that is what they should have done here in 2021. But they didn't.
So that is why we "expect" something to be addressed.They told us about the removal of Year to Year saves carrying over. That caused a backlash and now they buried the removal of SOTS from PS5.
They should have been upfront and not hiding the info. This his how they use to operate and what those of us who have been buying their game for years expect.

I’m really disappointed by this news, and I agree it should have been disclosed much sooner. I was really looking forward to importing a custom soundtrack into The Show like I’ve done the past several years. It’s one of the reasons I love the games as much as I do.
I’ve seen people say that Sounds of the Show works when playing MLB20 on a PS5, so if that is true, then system limitation doesn’t make any sense. I just don’t understand why they would take away this feature for next gen users.

I miss this, I had Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, I had a good soundtrack in the PS3 era.

Huge bummer, one of the things leading up to each release that i love is creating my own soundtrack that includes multiple songs from years prior.
Sad that it went for naught.

It's a gone and you can tell that one goodbye."

I got Nickleback - "Burn it to the ground" ready to add tomorrow for two way player pitcher warmup.

I’m very very disappointed about this too. Found out about it as I started to play MLB The Show 21 on my PS5 at launch time, flash drive full of music in hand, all ready to go. Wow, what a letdown.
Importing my own music into SOTS and listening to it while playing the game was an integral part of my MLB The Show experience in past years. I don’t understand why it wasn’t possible on the PS5. I suppose there must have been a reason. I’m wondering if there is a chance it will be reinstated?
