Strategy for early DD

Wondering what the best strategy is for the start of your diamond dynasty team..last year was my first year of DD, and I sold everyone right away and used the stubs, I finished collections in late august...I think this year I’ll collect what i pull from packs as soon as I get them, or is that a bad idea?
Also should we be playing the market instead of collecting early?

What may work for someone may not work for you.
But that being said; ANY Diamond player I pull out if my free packs (unless I pull Trout, Cole, Verlander, Scherzer, or Arenado) that are worth more that 15-20K will be sold. Any Golds that are worth more than 3K will also be sold.
I'll then use the stubs to invest in some players that I think will be bumped up to Gold/Diamond.
Then I'll play whatever Moments, Player Programs, Showdown, and Conquest Maps are available and mix in some Play Vs CPU games until I hit 300 stars (if that's how they set it up this year) and sell whatever boss is worth the most.
Once I finish those; I'll play some MTO toward whatever TA players I want.
Depending on how long the 1st Inning Program lasts, and how far it let's you collect stars, I may try for some of the stuff after 300 stars.
I doubt I'll keep any of the Inning bosses unless it's a player I like; as chances are you'll be able to get them cheaper later in the year.

Best strategy is to hit O in the DD menu and open up the Franchise menu and start a WS run in Franchise.
Could be fun to turn on critical situations too if you’re not into playing 162+ games.
. -
What NOT to do: Start in RTTS. Sell every card you get at "Sell Now" price. Spend all your stubs on RTTS equipment at "Buy Now" price. After 2 months of doing that, start playing DD.
Full disclosure... that may or may not have been my "strategy" in MLB 20.
-
The last time I was around for day 1 was in 19, and this was my strategy. I opened my pre-order packs, and my 30 diamond choice pack. I think I went with Chipper Jones first. I played for a bit, and when I was done I took all of my best players out of my squad and started to repeatedly flip them on the market. Each time I earned enough stubs for another one of those 30 diamond choice pack guys, I picked them up. Each time I played I had all of those guys in, and when I was done I took them back out and went back to flipping. It wasn't long before I had a full lineup and rotation with quality diamonds.
Each of those choice pack guys were lower level diamonds and had some weaknesses, but they were really fun to use early on. My favorites were Chipper Jones, Cliff Floyd, Jason Kendall, Roy Oswalt, Kerry Wood, Lou Gehrig, Tom Seaver, and Evan Longoria. A lot of those guys were on my team for quite some time.
-
It honestly depends a lot on how much you are going to play early and how much time you want to spend on the market vs playing baseball. Flipping early can definitely get you a fair amount of stubs (tons of YouTube vids on how to do it), but I don’t find it very fun.
If you are going to play a lot, then the biggest reward for time (unless you are a WS player or BR god) is to jump into conquest and play through all the opening day maps. I typically keep all the starting cards you get, but as others have said sell the non 90+ diamonds (or all the diamonds if you don’t care about the LS award).
Then, I would probably try the first event (as later in the year those awards can be worth a ton) and do any showdowns/moments.
But the biggest advice I can give is never, never, never buy packs.
-
Play a lot, grind that XP. If collection is something you want, then don't sell, only sell duplicates. Spending stubs to improve your team early on is a waste, they will be obsolete in a month. Just concentrate on playing the game. And now if user input is going to matter more, getting better cards is going to be even less important.
-
Collect the lower level cards to get the stubs packs and xp per team and work on Team affinity or conquest challenges to pick up decent starter diamonds. Unless you are tied to player or team or skip staving up for live series guys and just accumulate stubs and selling duplicates or as the earlier guy said selling guys with inflated prices that are low diamonds. ( a gold may be better at this stage in the game). And if it’s anything like this year, don’t buy tons of packs bc you get plenty for free. That being said I normally buy a 50 pack off the rip just to get a head start but that’s up to you, bc often times you get screwed and pull nothing good.

who you gonna use to play in game the first month or so....I'll just use whatever Silvers, Bronzes, and Commons that I get out of my free packs. I'll also keep any Golds that are under 3K.
Since I'll be mainly dealing with offline modes; I don't need to worry about high end players.

I (and I assume a lot of others) won't put much, if any, stock in the first season of Ranked Season's since I'm not going to invest in cards. By the second inning program I'll probably get a divison of two of LS done if the rewards are good since I wanna get the LS total award and XP (I think it'll be Hank Aaron

More power to you, but every year the collection reward guys are worthless by the end of the game cycle. I don't see the point in locking in millions of stubs for guys you won't use in January.
-
I keep every card I can that isnt worth a significant amount if stubs. Last year I got Trout in my 7th pack and sold him for 300k immedietly.
-
my first year i got the game only about a month after but last year i got the game two months after. both years i was unable to hit with LS collections. not one of them was worth it for me. i wasted a lot of time collecting LS cards i couldn't use just to collect a Mickey Mantle I couldn't hit above 260 with.
this year im just gonna flip and go for cards i know im good with and hopefully i get all the cards i like. not gonna waste my time with collections unless it's Hank Aaron.
-
Sell everything, buy as many PR Ranked Season cards as you can. Horde them until the Second Collection Reward is dropped and watch your windfall come in from people needing extinct cards to complete a collection.

I’m gonna put this on the record, but I don’t think they do the collections reward this year (or at least not like they did the last 2 years).

But why? I am almost positive that when I bought trout to get Mantle on April 20 he was still 300k.

I think playing BR in the beginning is a good way to get a lot of good rewards because even 6 wins I believe is a gold player this year? Maybe not they usually start 6 as a silver but for some reason I think 6 might be a gold from now on...could be wrong though.
