Nice list. Koufax and Strawberry are needed, though.
Great choices. The only reason Koufax and Strawberry aren’t on the list are so I could have Valenzuela and Gooden.
And that’s why you shouldn’t limit it to 1 per team
Meh, half the point of the list was to limit it to one player per team. Of course there are gonna be tough decisions and personal favorites over better players. It’s like the equivalent on a “desert island disc” list.

Winfield was in 18, and unfortunately he wasnt very usable. His swing was terrible.
Lol I remember this. I’m was so excited to get Winfield’s card and was so disappointed I couldn’t hit a lick with him. In Winfield’s defense, no contact hitter could hit in 18. Would like to see how he would do in this years game. Plus Steinbrenner was an [censored] to him. That’s neither here nor there, but any chance I have to rip George Steinbrenner, I’ll take

Winfield hit over 450 HRs. He was a slugger. SDS didnt reflect it with that card. It's too bad.

All I want is Prince Fielder and A.Beltre.

Beltre was so tough to leave off the list. Spent years watching him own third base in Seattle. Honestly, I could’ve put either Fielder on the list. Prince and Cecil would be mashers. There would have to be a moment of Prince hitting one out of Tiger Stadium when he was a little kid. That was a playground legend in the early 90s!

92 Postseason Deion Sanders

Pedro Martinez.

Dodgers Steve Sax is all I could ever ask for....No one would use him but me, but it would be the dream.
I lie, for pitching I would love Pedro, Fernando, or Koufax.

You sound like a Dodgers fan, no love for Ramon Martinez? Raul Mondesi? Pedro Guerrero?

I am a Dodgers nut since I was 7 (1981). Loved Pedro, Mike Scioscia, Orel, Mariano Duncan, and the list goes on and on.
So would be stoked for any of the guys you mentioned, but Sax was my first sports hero, so that would be the be all end all.

Pedro over Clemens for the Sox. And I love Roger.

If I’m allowed to make one change on this list, it would be to replace Clemens with Pedro. Still can’t believe I left him off

Give me Al Simmons from the Philadelphia A’s, even over Waddell.

I’m actually surprised Al Simmons isn’t in the game already. He’d make my list, but Waddell would just be too much fun. If a player equipped a siren, he would run off the mound looking for the fire truck.
-
I’d love to have Pedro Martinez or Manny Ramirez

Did I forget your favorite player? Did I list someone already in the game? Am I a l[censored] moron? Leave your input below. Looking forward to your suggestions and comments.
J.R. Richard, one of the bigger what if's and it would be really cool to see SDS maybe do a couple guys a year to highlight some of them who would have been household names had there careers not been cut tragically short. I think baseball and its fans embrace the games history and former players in a way no oter sport does. I love talking to my son about many of the Legends and passing on the stories my father told me as a kid about guys like Gibson, Koufax, Mantle, Clemente etc.
Clemente and Richard would actually be a pretty good couple guys to start with. Nice list and Stieb was fealty he reallly had some crazy movement

Great response. Completely agree on Richard. I’ve been fascinated with his career since I was a kid, though he medically retired right before I was born, and I have no doubt he would be a hall of famer if not for his stroke (which I blame Astros doctors on, but that’s another story).
Some of the choices I made for the list weren’t necessarily because the player was the best on his team not in the game, but players I think should be remembered more. Guys like Dave Stieb, Jim Fregosi and Lou Whitaker. Dominant stars in their day, but hardly talked about anymore outside their respective fan bases.
