It’s called rage quitting. It’s not cheating.

I would agree that it does skew stats when they dashboard before the play finishes, but I just don't see how the game code could account for that.
Best suggestion would be to calculate how often it happens to you (say 10% of games) and then apply a 10% modifier to your player's stats.
It there are 2 questions...
Can’t the play that has started complete if the disconnect happens during the play, then allow the game to cease the game and disconnect? And, I’d like to see the opponents disconnections prior to committing my time to play them. Why is that not possible?
Thanks all!
Your second question should be much more possible than the first.
Allowing the play to complete would be difficult because you would need to determine when it happens once the ball is in play.
For example, if I'm in the middle of throwing a pitch and I disconnect, does the pitch still get thrown? Do you still get to hit it? If you hit a groundball or a flyball, who fields it?
Right now, once a disconnect happens the game just stops there.
Agreed. Thank you for continuing the discussion. It is important to me. I HATE CHEATING. I do believe it is cheating.
So a simple Win-Loss-Disconnections display of record before committing to play that opponent seems reasonable. No?
It is not cheating; you feel cheated out of a HR or whatever, sure, but it is not cheating because the loser gets an L and the winner a W. These are really slim issues compared to match making. It sucks, but these are just stats, plus, if you play Conquest, they are blended together so they're basically useless.
exactly
OP just feels entitled to getting that HR or double or run or whatever - ppl quit all the time, you get the W and you move on it aint rocket science - perhaps you just care way too much about things which don't really mean anything in the grand scheme of things

To be fair, if you hit a HR, you are entitled to the HR. It's only because the stats don't mean anything that I feel it's a non-issue.
If player stats actually mean something in '20 or a future version of the game, then it should certainly be fixed in some way.

So, let me get this straight.
You’re complaining about getting a win?
And you want people to get punished even more for losing?
Am I complaining about a win bro? For real? I am bringing up the point of out right cheating and that’s it. It’s less about the W/L and more about the cheating and skewing of players stats both for a positive stat and a negative one.
Is that not your view for some reason?how is it cheating when you get the win?

Hey, the 2017 Astros lost 61 games while cheating.

I agree SDS should address this issue. The only problem is everyone seems to be confused about what the issue is. The issue isn't people dashboarding. The issue is that there are so many "unfair" glitches in the animations and game play when playing online. People trying to enjoy a video game get frustrated to the point of rage quitting. I don't blame anyone for dashboarding in any form of online play from 2016 to present. When someone dashboards against me I assume they have seen one too many of their outfielders slowly jogging when they should be sprinting or any of the many other game breaking glitches that seem to be the deciding factor in more than half the online games I've played (giving me wins and losses that weren't earned but a result of wonky animations). It seems to me much of this thread is directed at a symptom and not the actual cause.
LOL it's the game's fault you dashboard?

Lol. I know I won't loose sleep over it. But it'd be pretty cool if there was a way to fix it. if they didn't in the past, not sure what they could do now either though.
-
Maybe it is cheating now...
-
Other games out there penalize for games disconnect like nba2k I don’t know the word for word but I remember it saying it wouldn’t be matched if I continued a pattern of quitting early. What’s even worse to me is someone quits for no reason. No score. Maybe they got a man on 2nd base. If they don’t get some sort of run they will quit. If if they throw everything in dirt and get mad when you have 2 straight walks then quit. Yeah you win but it’s annoying

The technique is simple: you hold home button and power off the console; that's why it's easy and happens fast.
Not proud of it, did it mabye 3-4 times this year out of close to a thousand games; usually when I should have laid off the game for a couple hours to cool off.
So why not just take the Loss? Laying off a game you shouldn’t have started is no excuse for disconnecting during a play... I will never understand any rational for that. It’s cheating. Sorry bro, it’s not something to be justified. Happy you manned up, but please for the sake of the game and your own reputation, stop!
It’s most definitely NOT cheating!! I hate it too but, I’ve quit plenty of games! In fact the majority of my losses are quits. But I’ve never rage quit so someone didn’t get credit for a home run. But honestly, there’s no difference, a quit is a quit!!
I think a much more pressing issue are the zillions of idiots that abuse R2. -
As I stated in my original post... most of you that seem to not mind portend to be “great skilled players”, some of us are not and occasionally jump into a game and occasionally have an outstanding game or achievement that we’d like to have count. You all that don’t mind, fine... but you do not speak for everyone who plays the game. Have your opinion, that is just as valid as mine, but do not discount my point.
I am deserving of those stats and it’s like stealing... they are being stolen away via CHEATING!
THERE IS A WAY TO QUIT HONORABLY BY CHOOSING QUIT GAME IN THE MENU, NOT THIS “DASHBOARDING”. IT IS NOT THE SAME AT ALL!
Again, I think the “active” play should complete, then disconnect if “dashboarded”. This will at least give player what they earned justly.
And seriously, enough with this “I don’t care...” You will care when it makes a difference in some of the achievements you must earn in the game taking you hour and hours more to complete! -

People do not dashboard over stats, they dashboard because they get mad they gave up a hit or HR or whatever. It is not cheating to dashboard. You might not like it but it is not cheating. No way that SDS can fix that issue. Have I done, yes I have, when I do not think my opponent deserve to hit a HR on the pitch I threw and the game rewarded them especially if the game caused me to make an error with a diamond fielder and the next batter hits a BS HR. but that's not all the time. That is a small percentage of games. You sound like it happens to you over 50 percent of your games. If I do it, It is never ever ever about a players stats, always about the game. Because this game especially 18 and 19 were about hitting and not pitching, Pitching was almost useless in this game.

So enlighten me all mighty one as to how dashboarding is not cheating? Is it an in game function or does it require the player to actively, purposely unplug/disconnect to escape the game? Again, the fundamental problem with your response is your understanding that whatever is outside normal circumstances of the game to disconnect purposely to avoid negative stats is in fact cheating at its very core.
And btw, I am not the only one who has posted that feels this way. I like all the energy spent on justifying cheating instead of responding with ways to improve or eliminate this issue regardless if YOU care or not.I will say once again, if you are having a terrible game or otherwise would like to exit the game for whatever reason, there is a way to do that with integrity and honest gameplay without CHEATING! Hit pause, and exit game correctly through the menu... it accomplishes what you want without CHEATING others out of stats they EARNED! The game itself is the arbiter of the outcomes, not you.

No, but the other person can and I get a free win. Most the time it is pretty funny to me that a player can hit pitches for HR way out of the zone, A guy with 50 or below power hits a HR on a pitch that should not be hit for a HR. In most games when I am getting beat or pitching is not going my way, I will just quit the game. Like I said It is rare when I dashboard. Most the time I will wait until the play is over and just quit.
