Stephen and Luis did mention during yesterday's second live stream that there would be "dozens" of new legends this year, with an emphasis on players from the 1990s and 2000s, so that's really encouraging. I don't know if that means 24...36...48 new legends, but we should expect a healthy influx of new players this year.
Hopefully that doesn’t mean at the expense of losing other legends though.
Inevitably, SDS does lose the rights to some guys. It happens every year. I can remember players like Gaylord Perry, Jack McDowell and Yogi Berra being in multiple versions of The Show, but they weren't in this year's edition. Even last year, guys like Darin Erstad, Doc Ellis and Albert Belle were in the game, but they aren't this year. I think SDS will probably lose a few ancillary legends from this year's cycle, but they tend to replace them with big names. This year, we had Willie Mays, Ivan Rodriguez, Rogers Hornsby, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, and a ton of other big-name stars enter the cycle. By teasing Rivera, Ortiz, Maddux, Smoltz and Glavine for 20, SDS could be setting up the community to not realize that some lesser-known guys might not be coming back.
If we lose Ashburn and Slaughter...I'm fine with that.
Too bad we lose GrandyMan...
"If we lose Ashburn (...) I'm fine with that"
I'm not. He's one of 2(two) legends available on the Phillies before this year. Slaughter sure, who is one of 178 Cardinals legends in MLB 19 can afford it. But unless they add a bunch of players, teams like the Brewers and Phillies shouldn't lose a single legendI sympathize with your situation, but in dealing with a franchise that has been widely regarded as less than average (as a whole), I’d rather see the likes of Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, Scott Rolen, Darren Dalton, Robin Roberts, Ted Simmons, Roy Halladay Chase Utley, Bobby Abreu, [censored] Allen etc.
2 legends before this year though? Are you talking ‘19 or ‘20?
And TBH, for a franchise that has just over a 47% winning percentage in their history...
I’ll see myself out.
Boy they put dudes like Eric Davis and Jay Bunher in these games. They can afford to put ROBIN ROBERTS or STEVE CARLTON in

Hey now, don't [censored] on Eric Davis, he had some nice seasonal/career numbers. They have had Buhner a few years now. Carlton belongs in the game, but I'm guessing his "camp" wants more money.

Thanks for defending Eric the Red. My favorite addition in the past few years. One of baseball's best cases of what if. A true 5 tool player who was on a HOF trajectory, but was not able to stay on the field.
If you are going to pick on a Reds player pick on Dibble.

an overall underwhelming winning percentage, yes, but the LONGEST standing franchise with the same city/name

It's exciting to see who they add every year. I'm also wondering who we'll lose.
-
All I'm saying is, if Eric Davis and Mike Scott, players who had a couple really good years and a lot of completely forgettable years can get in, why can't Ben Sheets, Todd Helton, and Bobby Abreu get in? Why omit Carl Crawford, Brian Giles, and Kevin Brown? The games have made money hand over fist year after year, yet we're supposed to believe the company would fold if these guys were added after paying 3 arms and 5 legs for Mariano "$500 on Cameo" Rivera?

No offense, but like what I'm about to say, was an unnecessary comment. My point was with that much history, there obviously have been some really good players on bad teams along the way. For example you get White Sox fans asking for [censored] Allen, but his best years were with Phils. Del Ennis, Greg Luzinski, Chuck Klein, Robin Roberts, Carlton, Grover Alexander, Jim Bunning, Ed Delahanty, John Kruk, Bake McBride, Garry Maddox and a lot of guys from 90s/00s

I don’t really look at it is taking one away. Just replace him with a more usable Phillie great, such as those you mentioned (Allen, Simmons, Abreu, etc). Don’t really see the use of having a contact hitter with minimal speed and mediocre defense.
I hope there are more Phillie greats, I just wouldn’t lose any sleep if we “lost” the 97 version of Ashburn (keep the 85 actually, but give us a High diamond Werth it Pence or Howard).

With that multi-console contract money they had to have signed so many new guys. Huge cash cow if they did too. They've already released 8 and it's barely February. I'm getting more pumped everyday for 20.
Very cool the game will be available on Xbox and the Switch... VERY COOL !!!

I am a Reds fan, and so by that I have no love for the Cubs. But you are absolutely correct. He is often overlooked, because he played in the steroid era at a power position, but had very little power. But was a great hitter. Lifetime .303/.383/.442 that is a .825 OPS very good hitter. Not HOF, but still good. I saw people saying Sean Casey, very similar player. Lifetime. 302/.366/.447. Basically Casey had more power but Grace got on base more.

What do you guys think John olerud's card will look like?? (assuming it's a SS)
R 115/80 L 105/74
vis/disc - close to Max
Diamond defense
Or is that too generous, not generous enough? -
