How much do you value bullpen arms?
-
Straight forward title. What is your strategy? Do you carry just one or two elite bullpen arms? One for lefty's and one for righty's?
Or do you value the bullpen more than your starting rotation?
Currently, I have Dibble and Fingers that I put in against righty's. And 94 Wagner against lefty's. I feel I need another lefty pen arm, but is that overkill to go on the market and obtain one when you can get a stud starter for the amount of stubs they cost?
What's your own opinion and who are your guys that you count on when its all on the line?

Honestly, I pretty much put more value on them than any other position, especially early on in the year. I mean, look at a card like the 96 OVR Rollie Fingers, that's going to be in most of our bullpens for the entire year if not, the majority of it. Cards like that you will almost always get whatever you invested back and then some out of. It's why the first Live Series diamond I bought was Aroldis Chapman this year and what I will likely do in The Show 21 as well.

I want a great bullpen, I trust my pen more than my rotation.
97 Chapman and 99 Mo are my I need pitch lights out now arms
92 Smoltz, Fingers and Dibble are my I had to pull my starter early and I need some consistent innings.
-
Agreed with above I normally value this position the most. Not sure how important it is this year since people playing an entire online game without quitting can be rare at times.

Honestly I try not to bring in a reliever before the 7th inning. As soon as their energy turns to yellow their effectiveness gets majorly cut down, that’s when a lot of weak hits start falling. There’s only 3 relievers I trust right now 97 Chapman, dibble, and fingers. Mo is solid but can be hit and miss sometimes. This is why I try and have a 6th starter/long reliever ready to throw the 5th or 6th if needed. The players league snell is perfect for me in this role, hard to pick up and can be dominant for 2 innings.

LS Chapman is beastly on a budget if you’re like me and can’t afford his Sig
-
Pen was my highest priority when building my god squad.
94 wagner ( waiting on sig/awardWagner)
90 Franco (this lefty spot is a toss up, ive run Britton here too but i have a lot of hard throwers in my pen now)
99 Henke (prestiged idr if its 98 or 99) will be replaced by Sig Gagne/Hoffman
99 Rivera (Prestiged)
97 Chapman (paid 169k right around release he's lights out)
Dibble is like 2k/inn but will give up the occassional HR
Rollie still has a sub 2 ERA in 80+ innings. -
Its a priority for me. I cant hit at all so an extra few innings really help keep my hopes alive.
-
I’m still waiting for them to release Smith, Bedrosian, Sutter, Romo amongst others... I think this event would have been better with a CY Young reliever award for Gagne, Sutter or Bedrosian over Simmons and Upton.
-
I want as many dependable relievers as i can get for instance i have
Franco
Gagne
Diaz
Wagner
Dibble
FingersAnd i'm working on getting Chapman and Rivera.
-
99P. Rivera
97 Chapman
98?P Henke
95 McGee
95 Dibble
94 Wagner
93 EckersleySo, a lot? But I don't use SP outta the pen cuz I think it's the worst DD change of all-time!
-
I put a lot of stock into my bullpen. Through flipping and selling off some cards I was able to build what I feel is my perfect bullpen.
Fingers
Rodney
Gagne
Sig Series Franco
Britton
Dibble
Sig series ChapmanI know I have a lot of stubs wrapped up in it, but I love it. They are all fun to pitch with, and dominant.
-
Not going to pile on, but I use a lot of the same guys everyone else does.
I love having Vida Blue as my 5th starter and using him in relief. Hes been great against good players online. I'd rank my bullpen..
Blue>>Mo>Franco>Rodney>Gagne. Just got Fingers in there and haven't used him yet.

How does everyone feel about having a couple junk throwers in their pen so it's not all straight gas? I've got Franco, and Gagne for a different look than Wagner/McGee and Dibble/Henke. Fingers is the best of both worlds though.
-
Don’t sleep on McGee. Great lefty bullpen arm

Those junk pitchers are great when used at the right time. Francos screwball, for example, can take a few at bats to pick up. By then you've got yourself through an inning late in the game.
That's been the case for me, anyway.

It's High Priority, which is difficult cause every reliever i seem to throw out there gets smashed. There's so few "Great" Options that it seems like anyone you put out there, everybody has seen a million times so they're very hittable. Combine that with the randomness of pitch location. Lefty Relievers are even harder to find. I have the most confidence in Gagne right now. Everyone knows that Slow Stuff's coming, but that curve is Filty and no one can touch it. Until it hangs of course. Just picked up SS Chapman so I've only used him once. Little Nervous the whole time cause he spotted only 1 out of every 3 Pitches. SS Mo has been better than the lower diamond version, but still gets hit around. Dibbles Filthy, but if he can't hit corners and your opponent can hit fastballs you're screwed.

I second this. He is the lowest rated guy in my pen and still my closer.

It is important but I really have not invested alot in it. Just find guys you are good with. There are a ton of lefties for completing LS sets. Wagner is the best but Plesac and Doolittle are solid or LS Chapman and LS Hader. Find someone you are good with and stick with them. Im shocking good with MA Neris and LS Chapman. Also find guys that complement your starters. If you have a starter that throws mostly heat, guys like Hader and Chapman will get rocked. However a junk pitcher (gagne, franco) or funky windup (eck) will be affective. Perhaps my favorite part about this game is alot of it based on feel ( batter stance, windup) so you dont always have to have everyone as a 99.

3 ppl Dibble Mo Chapman everyone else is just there for the ride.
