There has been a lot of talk about something like this happening this year.

My question about this is: Uf you already completed ALL the specific Card Variation Collections (All-Star, Break Out, etc); whats the chances that if SDS does a player like this, that they add additional 'tiers' to the current collections?

Deciding if I really want to lock in 30 sellable cards in the Stage 3 TAs; when most of them probably wont make my End Game lineup.

Don't lock them in yet, fotf might not be part of it, you might not like the collect reward, prices might go up enough that you'd rather sell instead, until they announce it theres a chance last year was a 1 time thing( though I'm hoping and planning for it and want it).
Plenty of reasons to wait and see

I'm not locking any of them in. May think of selling them though.

What I'm more concerned about if the normal collextions (AS, BO, Rookie, etc)

With getting Mantle; I was able to conplete those without buying any of the 'only available now in the market' Golds.

If SDS does do a Honus type reward; I can't see them NOT requiring more than 10 each of those type of cards.

Which means that either they release more of them or, if you need them, you're going to pay 10K+ for a Gold player that you'll probably never use.

From an opening weekend Honus guy, here's my advice...

You want a total number of each type that is available on the market. Keep in mind that you have unlocked lots already via other means though.

Also, round numbers too, increments of 10.

Expect 20-40 award cards, 20 breakout AS, Sig, VET etc.

Expect 60 FOF. I'd be shocked to not have that.

You won't see HRD. You will have FS.

I have all the Prospects just in case... Don't have them locked in... So they just sit there. Better safe than sorry I guess.

As one of the early posters that accurately predicted Honus last year, sure feels like something might be happening with Derek Jeter this year.

Jeter signed a major deal with Topps Baseball Cards this past year and as been ALL over their Bunt Game online. The fact that SDS as has a very large partnership with Topps lends serious credibility to this.

It would give them a major boost to game sales over the next 6 months for sure, and likely lead to him being the cover for next season as well as they launch onto multi platform.

If no one has noticed, the fact that there is ALSO already Silver Derek Jeter bat (The Captain Bat) in the game already, while it doesn't prove that Jeter will be this years Honus, certainly makes it seem likely that there could very well be a HUGE program coming, that requires collections and also features moments.

I'd certainly be buying up cards right now if I wanted a card like this (thankfully, I already have). These cheap cards will SKYROCKET if something like this is released.

P.S. If this release of this Derek Jeter (Honus Type collection program) were going to happen, i'd bet that it was SUPPOSED to coincide with this years HOF induction ceremony with Jeter that was canceled, which would have been July 25th. if it were going to happen, I think we'll see this program released within the next 3 weeks.

I think Jeter is the main attraction for next years game.

    Nope!

Next year's headliner couldn't be more obvious...

Yah actually that makes sense and I really hope your right, in that case Jeter next year would most likely be one of the new legends. (IE Ortiz/Sheffield/Maddux/Smoltz/Glavine)

Multi Platform will mean more $$ for acquiring legend rights. Just like I wont be surprised that Jeter is this years Honus, I would also expect next years new legends to be HUGE, with Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente joining the party, and probably quite a few others.
