Ive tried all of the showdowns multiple times now and have yet to complete any. Does anyone have any tips on which are the easiest and how to complete them?
NL and AL central are the easiest and NL West isn’t that bad.
When drafting, know your bosses so you can build your team accordingly. When at the plate in the boss levels, BE PATIENT and keyhole pitches until you get 2 strikes but be ready to pounce on a hanger.
work the count and be patient
The only tip I have that helps me is be super patient. Make the pitcher come to you. The minute you feel like you're chasing, reset.
And draft hitting. Don't worry about pitchers.
Use the perks to your advantage. Warm up by playing another mode on hall of fame. That always forces me to look for my pitch.
The stage 2 Showdowns are probably the easiest.
Draft hitting/power. Look for pitches, dont swing at everything. Dont stress about it, just breathe, and relax.
I haven't been able to complete any of the showdowns. Playing on a TV is definitely a draw back on these type of missons. I enjoy the idea of the offline battle royale type thing but when you loose by 1 run on a boss and have to start over it is annoying. You should be able to replay boss battles but loose a run or something.
use steal trick or bunts to get runner over to second. double plays happen unreasonably often, even when you get under a pitch
The pitchers have tendencies on where they throw. I would recommend picking 1 showdown and doing it several times and getting used to those pitchers. For example, Andrew Miller in stage 2 is always good for a slider near the middle of the zone, but maybe slightly to the outside. And/Or a fastball middle of the plate and slightly up. I usually wait for the opposite of what they threw last pitch. So if it was a slider, I wait for a fastball. If last pitch was fastball, I look for slider. Doolittle throws a lot of fastballs up and slightly inside. Rivera throws meatball cutters that are just a little inside.
These are examples from stage 2 AL cause I’ve done a lot of those lately, but the more you play one type specifically, the better you’ll get at picking up the patterns and waiting for those pitches.
If it’s bosses or mini bosses you have issues with, go into practice mode beforehand and play that same boss on that same difficulty at the same stadium same time of day, etc. That helps you get used to seeing their pitches and timing them up. To make it challenging, use a bad team to hit so you have a smaller PCI. It will then seem way more hittable when you go back to showdown using better players with perks.
I'm not very good at these but to echo what has been already noted - most of my success in the boss stages comes with walks. Walks seem to lower pitcher confidence faster than hits. When the pitcher starts to get wild, take as many pitches as possible.
Turn off the music audio (it gets you pumped up) if you use in game music.
Try not using perks until the final boss (I feel you get through the missions easier not being distracted by the pop ups) And this might just be me but with no peks activated they throw more strikes and down middle. Also you'll have a massive advantage when you get to the final boss if your hitting more without perks then add them.
