I disagree. This thread was back on point last night and then this morning you started talking about Maurice again instead of the argument at hand
Notice he won’t address the arguments about starters out of pen. What you posted about that was great. You mentioned things I had not even thought of, but they solidified my view that starters out of the pen is fine.
He just want to cry about me “insulting” him.
He lost. So he is asking for the mods to eliminate the evidence.
But that shouldn’t be surprising, considering he is asking SDS to change the rules of baseball to make the game easier/more enjoyable for him.
And he said the real world was too tough for me. That’s laughable.
Lol where in the hell did I ever ask SDS to change the rules of baseball?? I have clearly stated that I have no problems facing a starter out the pen. I have a problem facing 3-4 starters out the pen! That is completely unrealistic even in a playoff scenario
I would agree more with this, but I still believe this falls into the category of them in rl not having access to the pitching we have in DD

Yes you are correct that every team doesn’t have access to 5 aces in their starting rotation like we do in DD. But even if they did, no manager would ever throw them all every game or even in the playoffs. Starting pitchers train their arm strength differently that relief pitchers. Their arms are designed to throw 90-100 pitches at peak performance and then rest for 4 days to regain their strength to be able to pitch for a 3 hour game.
A relief pitcher’s arm is completely different. They are designed to come in and throw 15-20 pitches and get 3 outs in an inning. Possibly more depending on the situation. A starting pitcher’s body just simply isn’t trained to come in and throw 20-25 pitches for 4 straight games. Not even the best closers in the world can do that either.

Also, people keep saying to treat every game like it’s Game 7 of the World Series. But that argument is completely invalid. Because of the simple fact that after your DD game of using 3-4 starters in relief, you just start up your next game and do it again.
If it’s Game 7 of the World Series, there are no more games to be played...

Probably true, but you lose me at pitchers would be able to go five days straight. Also, statistically speaking, if you look at how starters perform on short rest or out of the bullpen it's generally worse.
The problem is just stamina in general especially on the RP side. Idk why it was a good idea RP can't have full stamina ever, but SP can whether they start or come from the pen.
They've created the issue though, why wouldn't you use SP more when there is A) more of them and at a cheaper price point B) better stamina and recovery C) confidence of SP holds much better than RP.
If they would get some more RP in the game and stop neutering them it wouldn't be so much of an issue.

Relief pitcher stamina is def an issue. I’ve never understood what the basis for that is, not allowing them to ever be rested

In RS it's not as bad, but in BR or events you can have a fully rested RP come out yellow and serve BP
-
I still don't think SP's should be able to come out of the pen unless all RP's have been used. I see merit to the Game 7 argument but at the same time I view the mechanic as flawed in this game due to stamina/energy purposes. Plus it's never truly a game 7 because we all know we can play infinite games and change out our roster as we see fit.
So I think it needs to be viewed as an in game balancing that needs to happen versus viewing this as legitimate baseball strategy.

My only disparaging remark I made was regarding my opinion of your post and that I didn’t agree with it. I’m allowed to disagree with your opinion and have it not be a personal attack on your character. Just because I say that a post is one of the worst ones I have read in a long time, doesn’t mean that you never make other posts that I might agree with and we would get along. Never once did I make a disparaging remark about you or your character until you did it to me first. Therefore, if you apologize first since you gave the first personal insult, I give you my word as a man that I will return the apology as well and we can all move along. Ball is in your court sir.

Right. And my first post was not disrespectful to you in anyway. Once I was disrespected, I responded in kind. I am a nice, kind-spirited guy, but when I am slighted, I’ve been known to take things to levels that people weren’t expecting.
But your first sentence here is good enough me. So I am sorry for offending you. Bygones as far as I am concerned.

It's so bad. There is no longer a reward for running up a pitch count to get into the pen. Nice job, now here comes Kluber.

You can bring Kluber in out of the pen, too.
And for the record, I’ve played about 70+ RS games, and I’ve brought a starter out of the pen twice.
I think this is a losing battle. Those who don’t like it don’t have to do it, but better believe many of your opponents will. So I’m looking at it as a “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” type of a thing.

Yes I know I can. But I refuse to. I like playing the game in a more traditional way. Ya I might be putting myself at a bit of a competitive disadvantage but I'm ok with that.

How about If a starter appears in relief he can’t start the next game?
