Cheating

I agree about the cheating for sure
-
We’re really gonna start blaming pitches that weren’t located on “cheating” now huh

These threads are hilarious. It’s like those “free coin” sites for server based games.

I mean its not impossible, a Ddos attack could make pitches miss and hang due to it delaying the input even more than it already is, Ddos attacks are pretty prevalent in 2K due to it being a game that revolves around input timing like this one. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if there were some people using Ddos attacks to get to WS, I've said it before, a virtual card and banner makes people do some crazy things.

WTF is Ddos attack?

Lol no I mean when the game lags and the pitch changes location, it’s not a huge change it’s just weird.

Distributed Denial of Service, basically a flood of requests sent to an IP that can kick you offline or slow down response times between client and server

Cheating is ruining the online experience along with MLB The Show handing losses to teams that are ahead when the opposing player quits or the server freezes. Why even play anymore? The online game is set up to reward the cheaters.

So you guys ever think that there may be some people you play online who actually cheat, you know, manipulating the network to make the game go in there favor. I’m not sure it’s really even possible, but I played a guy yesterday, and I’d throw and inside pitch that wasn’t supposed to be a strike, but the connection would slow and the ball would go from being off the age and in on his hands To right over the middle. I’m probably just seeing things, but as far as “scripting” goes, I’d say that cheating is more likely than the game being scripted. Idk, I hate quarantine
It could be the awesome programming. Sometimes I'll see a flyball shift one way or another into the glove when it was still a few feet away. You could be seeing it for pitching as well.

So after playing almost 300 RS games I think I have come to the realization of how this happens with pitching.
Hear me out.
When preparing to locate a pitch. You put it in a certain vicinity and the controller feedback vibrates and sometimes won’t allow you to initial the meter. That is because the opponents PCI is already hovering in that section and its a way of warning you they are already set up to expect a pitch there.
Now here is where things get weird/ conspiracy theories kick in.
If there is any algorithm built into the game then its so many possibilities for how it gives some one a competitive advantage or some how makes the playing field more “even”.
This perspective is contingent on whether you try to force the pitch into that location or if you choose to go else where.
Say for example you are trying to force high sinkers or fastballs and the PCI is sitting in that location and you get feedback warning then you have the option to move it or be adamant, the choice is up to the user, right? Some times I feel it is sometimes I don’tThis is why.
I have tried to pitch a person away from where they usually hold their PCI. To find this out I usually test with a few pitches.
If they sit dead center a pitch away roughly belt high that’s either a sinker or change up will tell you based on the feedback. Using pitchers with change ups that aren’t too slow and don’t dive too much are best or pitchers with slower sinkers with a lot of movement.
Late swing means they anticipates something faster and down the middle to lower. Early swing means they anticipated something higher and faster. There are many different iterations for fooling the hitter but its all contingent on how they are sitting for the fast ball. Some like it high, some like it in some like it away and others, very few just can hit anything.
Now here is where it gets weird.
After determining the preferred PCI location you can start to notice more why the ball hangs or gets miss located where it does.
The most common place for it to hang is dead center and honestly this year for perfect/perfect hits that’s where most people will want to sit. Occasionally you will throw a ball else where and it will hang in a different vicinity and I think that’s because of where the PCI sits. Unless your timing is very bad and you have the yips and drop the PCI too often most of the pitches hung with in a certain zone are hit pretty well.
I notice this way too often. This year I have made it common practice to check the feedback after every pitch for everything I throw. I haven’t found a way to consistently avoid this because a lot of the time on perfect releases on the corners or the edge of the zone you will see a pitch hang and end up 6 inches plus outside of the zone.
The more you pay attention to the game the more this happens. After you make it past 700 and into the harder difficulties its less apparent but there still will be occasion where you are baffled at why a pitch went no where near where you threw it and by the time it left your hand it was already a no doubt home run.

Showdowns are a bust too. Did pretty well throughout until the 3rd boss battle with Shohei. 10 outs to get 4 runs. Didn’t get a single hit. 0 k’s. 0 hits. 0 arguments that the whole thing isn’t a stub grab based on how many times you pay them to play.
Wait you have to pay Stubbs to play showdown? Wow. Good thing I’ve never even gave it a second look How stupid

I think that vibrating of the controller is just when you’re trying to pitch out of the zone. I’ve turned it off so no problem.
It sounds a bit conspiracy theory to me.

So sad that cheaters are rewarded more than honest players in MLB The Show 20.
