Imo it's a great idea. However they need to reduce stamina regeneration by at least 50%

Does it such facing starters out of the pen? Yes. Do teams do it in real life? Also yes. If its a do or die or elimination game teams pull out all the stops. If its done on the field in real life we should be able to do it in game.

I was down 4-2 in the bottom of the 9th in a RS game last night. I had a tough time with the new Giolito, but then my opponent brings in Newhauser to close the game. I was thinking WTF, but then a perfect single, walk, and 3-run walk off blast by Rendon!! Felt great doing this to a starter trying to close!
Ps I always use my BP in relief in close games. Fingers went 2 inning this game to preserve the 2 run deficit

I keep FOTF Ohtani in the rotation just for extra innings. So far he is 6-1 in extra innings games. Outside of a specific mission (Snell program for example) would I do this? Hell no.

I've never seen a real MLB team piggyback the same two starters multiple games in a row.
I guess every single game is do or die in MLB THE SHOW 20!!!

I'm not saying there should be no penalty, the stamina should definitely drain and regenerate in a way that you can't use the same guys over and over but all I'm saying is starters out of the bullpen is legit. The way it works right now definitely needs some adjustments tho. Being able to throw the same 3 guys every game is definitely bull

How do you bring in starters for relief? I only see relief pitchers when I open the bullpen menu during a game

R1 to cycle menu to starters whe you go to pen

How about just giving relievers fill stamina instead of them being in yellow after 2 pitches? I would be much more willing to bring in relievers knowing they might be able to last more than half a batter

with that mindset you should not be able to throw 102 mph sinkers chin high for strikes

Dude no one does this in baseball except in the playoffs and maybe once or twice in an 18 inning game.

I agree but there are people defending it saying if they do in a real baseball then it should be allowed. The only time that's ever done is do-or-die situations in the postseason. The fact that you could have three or four starters pitch every single game is absurd. There should be some sort of penalty for using a starter in a game. With the way this game is set up you can pitch your top three starters every game for three innings and never even touch your bullpen.

It's really crazy that they enabled the option to bring in a SP as a reliever in the game this year, especially since now the 3 batter rule is a thing, people don't burn through their pen as fast as in previous years

My favorite is when the person I am playing goes Kluber Hal Oswalt I am so sick of seeing those three pitchers it’s ridiculous... played 6 games tonight and 5 were kluber, i mean come on

Starting pitchers need lower energy regeneration and relief pitchers need higher energy regeneration. I used Eckersley for 2 innings and he couldn't pitch again for about 4 nine inning games. The game almost forces you to use starting pitchers in relief at times.

I like the feature because it allows for openers and since every RS game is like a playoffs game anyway we should be able to treat it as such. However, SPs are not used to pitching on short rest so I think it might make sense if they took a bigger effectiveness hit when they come in without full stamina. By the way, that should go for relief appearances and starts too, so any SP that starts with less than 100% energy should be less effective and take more of a hit the less energy they have to start
