I got lucky and bought 5 each of the 6 newest Topps Now cards for roughly 5k each. They were gone faster then SDS's customer service when they reached 25k.

There is if you're not a top 5% player. You have no choice but to spend $ to get the stubs to buy them. But they're 100% optional, nobody's forcing anyone to buy them.

I think SDS needs the reality check. Turning into Madden very quickly before our eyes might not be next year but they're well on their way.

@Pergo_MLBTS Time is money and griding is time. The people who work full-time, spend time with their kids, help around the house, etc...it leaves some with 2 choices, pay for stubs or don't worry about the card. Not complaining, just hope people understand it's not easy to grind for stubs/cards like it used to.

I find plenty of time to hang with the kids, baseball is just ending for them, chase the wife around the house, and do house work. Oh yeah and full time. if you know how to maximize your playing time, its not hard.

@Simple-Jack3998_XBL I work full time, spend time with my kids, help around the house, and don't even really play much on weekends because I'm usually busy...and have not had to buy stubs or not worry about the card.

Guess it depends on your definition of investing. I don't buy extras of cards to invest, I just wait and sell whatever I earn naturally when the prices are highest, usually around when these big collections come out. To me that's not investing like most people talk about, since its just cards I get as rewards from playing.

It's certainly easier the more time you are able to play, no doubt about that. But that's different from where this conversation initially started.
