I might be in the minority here, but new TA programs granted more pxp, packs and a steady supply of new cards for each team. I know people disliked being forced to play with certain players or certain teams, but it brought diversity to the game. Not everyone was running the same lineup. Im not even sure you can compete with a theme team this year. Before it was viable option. I know they did this to appease new players who get the game mid cycle, but what's wrong with rewarding the players who are here day one and comeback each year despite the game flaws?

TA removal has zero to do with mid cycle players. Its realistically so SDS could put more cards in packs without creating more cards.

There is an element where they went overboard in 2024 with TA once every few weeks, but the 21/23 model was great.

Lack of TA is the main reason I checked out of the game early this year

Yeah, the 2021 TA was very fun. Encouraged me to use specific team lineups for rewards. Very enjoyable. And the requirements weren’t outrageous either. Would love to have that back.

What they’ve done this year is not fun. The #1 fan stuff is just tedious, frankly. Who wants to play a totally theme team lineup for 6000 hits (exaggerating). That’s a massive amount of games.

Yeah, the TA this year- or lack thereof- is insanely asinine, and quite frankly a super questionable decision from SDS. I don't think I've ever seen company shoot themselves in the foot intentionally as much as SDS has recently.

As others said, it was a completely money driven decision. Less free cards so more pack cards. It’s that simple.

Agree, they have made a lot of head scratching decisions this year to put it in the best possible terms.

I think they need to find a middle ground between the 4+ TA drops per year and the 1 drop this year. Grinding out all 30 teams multiple times per year gets boring after a while. I think the sweet spot is probably 2, one at launch and one around the All-Star break. Could even add a 3rd drop near the end for Finest or whatever.

They've said that the move this year was in response to feedback that people want to just quickly get the TA cards and be able to use them how they want. I think the middle ground approach of 2-3 drops still makes that possible, while also giving people that want more something to work on.

No way they are doing anything important after all star game. You get like three months with these sports games, and then its silly season.

New Threads cards at the deadline, and potentially a HoF program the week before that

Lack of Team Affinity this year has really hurt my enjoyment of the game. It was a terrible decision in a sea of terrible decisions this year

21/23 model was divisional, not team by team. Its ok to have longer grinds for cards. In fact, its better game design. But the divisional model made it pretty easy to focus on your team pretty quickly and get the others passively.

I definitely miss TA. It was the thing I looked forward to the most and I loved having to play with different cards from different specific teams to complete missions, I thought it was fun. I really liked the TA format from MLBTS21 I didn’t care too much for the recent formats though. Really bummed me out that it was removed.

Going away from TA was an awful decision. It was the only thing giving us consistent players for every team. They have proven time and time again that they are incapable of distributing cards properly. Now it’s even worse. Now the majority of cards are in packs. Captains haven’t been updated, so theme teams are dead. This year is a complete disaster.

@GoozeFn_PSN and we’re getting the 4th even 5th version of some players yet we have “New Legends” like Andruw Jones who doesn’t even have a proper diamond yet. Head scratching to say the least

I did like the divisional breakdown better than team by team for sure.

@doobiebross66-72_PSN They are saving him for the hall of fame program. A mistake IMO. No one will use one of the most exciting new legends because there will be better switch hitting options by then. Poor planning. They don’t understand their own game.

@Pergo_MLBTS I actually like how they did TA this year initially. The problem is a lack of adding on and updating captains.

Agreed, the first part of TA was fine. The #1 fan stuff is just plain ridiculous.

@capardo_XBL I like #1 fan thing. It gives us a long term grind and lots of extra packs. It doesn’t include any cards for collections either.

The year they had MtO tied to the long TA program was by far my favorite The Show of all time. This year's goes down as the worst.
