    Every update makes it worse and gets me excited for Pro Spirits to release in July.

    I swear it's like every update they're not fixing anything of substance...nothing gets added onto, or upgraded or updated

    Sarge,

    The coding team lacks the talent to revamp the game. The coding team doesn't even have the remaining talent onboard to code up a revised menu slate without causing major game bugs. Through layoffs and coder boredom causing talented coders to go elsewhere for some true creative challenge, I think SDS is left with insufficient talent to take MLB The Show to the next level.

    I also think SDS knows this.

    End result? A game title that is plodding along trying to milk all the profit potential out of the title until the revenue cannot keep pace with Sony's demands for the profit sharing stipends. Then, SDS gets sold off. The executives live on their nest eggs. The employees with any talent look elsewhere in a depleted market filled with AI craze to replace humans, and eventually MLB realizes that without a video game for their product, they are losing fans and interest.

    At this point, which will of course be in the future after the salary cap and floor are rammed through over the lockout and hidebound objection of the players union (driven by the agents), MLB will find another company to market an MLB themed video game.

    I believe that will all take about two to three years longer to play out. I don't believe there will be a 2027 MLB season at all. At earliest, we see a revised MLB setup for the 2028 season and then around 2029 to 2030 we see MLB expand to 32 teams.

    Last year was my first playing the Show. I fell in love with the game and the collection concept. That much that it became my sole hobby for several months.

    I can't believe how less fun I have this year. It is night and day.

    This year, getting XP is tougher, getting stubs is tougher, getting packs is tougher, finishing XP Innings is tougher and, obviously, finishing collection is tougher. Even the online programs were more fun and line-up challenging last year.

    I don't ask for much: just to get a real chance to finish most collections while playing casually and have fun doing so.

    I already took two five days or longer breaks from the game this year. I would NEVER have tought about doing such a thing last year.

    I am really contemplating the idea of giving up for the rest of the year.

    One thing is certain, I won't buy this game next year. I will probably migrate on Switch 2 and play other games that I can't play right now on the Switch.

    Or just go outside to make a change 😉

    Will all of you keep playing prior MLB The Show titles? To quell the urge of not buying the latest and greatest.

    What other games do you guys play? When I finish whatever content I need to do in Mlb the Show, I play Battlefield 6, Crimson Desert just to name a few.

    • I played Crimson Desert almost exclusively for 2 months. It came out at the same time as The Show
    • As soon as I finished it Forza Horizon 6 released just a few days later.
    • Right now as I type my console is downloading the new 007 game.

    Mix in some Puzzling Places and MS Flight Sim on PSVR2 and there is little wonder why I have not played much of The Show this year, especially when you consider that 5 of the top 8 Cardinal players are simply in packs, 1 is a big expensive collection and the another is in DQ (yuck). Only Bruce Sutter is earned with normal gameplay (in mini seasons)

    @Messiah_Ortiz_84_PSN

    I’ll be playing 26 for the foreseeable future. I’ve been working on a roster for weeks. Equipment updates, including minor leaguers. Generic face edits. Ratings/potentials updates. Keeping up with transactions. I’m not even halfway done.

    I’m going to play a full career of a RTTS. That’s why I’m spending so much time on prospects and I’m increasing a lot of their potentials so real prospects stick in the league throughout my career rather than a bunch of fake generated players.

    Figured this was the year to really be detailed with it since I 100% wont be buying next year and probably even beyond. Last time I got super deep into a RTTS playing every game, I didn’t buy another MLB game for 3 years.

    Then there’s always GTA 6 right around the corner.

    @genopolanco

    I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. I'm a franchise guy through and through...I'm also only about doing things the right way for a long time. It has to be as realistic as possible for me to get to the full level of satisfaction I've experienced when playing Madden back in the day. Are you PS5 or Xbox? Whats your gamer tag? If you allow for your rosters and franchise details to be downloaded...I'd like to do that for my next round of Franchise. I just started a White Sox franchise that I'm committed to for the foreseeable future. At least 3 seasons. My 7 year old chose them for my Show 26 rebuild/build. We had a solid spring training and the season thus far is not too bad. Sliders were adjusted for full immersion and I downloaded a roster into the universe that I thought would be realistic. It is but I should have just gone with the current MLB Show roster update. I say that because I really am trusting someone I don't know. I based the download on ratings and # of downloads. Regardless...its a solo offline/online franchise. It will serve as my primary build.
