Interesting Facts about the Cardinals as we start the 2026 season
-
From a post on X that I saw
-
The Cardinals are the only team in the MLB without a former all-star on their team. And yes, that includes the White Sox and Rockies.
-
They also have 0 position players who played in the 2010s. Every player made their debut in 2020 or later
-
This is the first time since 1995 they will open the season without a player on the roster who has 100 career homers.
I am thinking that they have to have one of the youngest (if not the youngest) opening day lineup in the league (Average Age = 24.8)
Wetherholt (23)
Herrera (25)
Burleson (27)
Winn (24)
Gorman (25)
Walker (23) - Hard to believe that Walker is still only 23.
Church (25)
Pagés (27)
Scott II (25) -
-
They are going to lose a ton of games I bet.

Is that Stanek? He is the oldest player on the team. But the post specified position players and not pitchers

Most likely.
The most interesting aspect of the season will be to see if any of these young guys can elevate their game.
Can Gorman and Walker improve their batting average or at least hit enough HRs to make the BA a little less of an issue
Will Wetherholt live up to the hype.
Will Ivan Herrera continue to be an offensive force
Can Wynn and Victor Scott II improve their hitting skills to go with their elite defense.
Will any of the young pitchers find the stuff to perform well?

Just because a post says something doesn't mean I bothered to read it! : )

@SaveFarris_PSN Fair point I guess.

Things could be worse for the Cards, DeRo could be the manager.
