In sets and seasons we would have gotten WBC and new threads cards 95-99 , with captains very usable end game.
Now WBC and new threads will be 85- 90 , virtually unusable in online competitive end game .

Sets and seasons had it's upsides and it's down sides.

I did wonder if all the people excited about WBC cards realized that they would fall in the power creep limitations on release day

I never hated sets and seasons because of how you weren't allowed to use your old cards from season to season. I actually liked that because it allowed for more content and more cards. I think the problem was the execution. 23's model was honestly decent, but it got some hate because there would be one content dump at the beginning of the new season and then that would be most, if not all, the content of for that season. 24 was a hybrid between the power creep and sets and seasons, and that failed because the high-overall cards you just got served no purpose in a couple of weeks. Sets and seasons can work with all 99s, but content has to be released gradually instead of one big dump for us to play with for a month.

I didn’t mind sets and seasons. There was way more variety those years.

No, just no. SDS please don't listen to him. Nobody wanted to play with a lineup full of 99 cards right away, then when the season was over you couldn't even use those cards. And wild cards? Give me a break. Stupid ideas all around. The game got stale and old fast.

@Kingdutch_MLBTS Not for me. I played more hours in 24 than any year. Great year for theme teams and lineup diversity.

@Kingdutch_MLBTS how does a game get stale when you literally get more content .

For me personally, I lost interest real quick in 23/24. I want to be able to use all my favourite cards at any point in time after I’ve earned them- not have their use time-limited.

Sets and Seasons were a good enough idea, just implemented horribly. I was actually ok with the sets themselves…but instead of having their use limited, they should have made their availability limited instead.

For example: You have Season 1 sets…you can obviously earn them within the season, use them whenever you want outside of the season…however once it ticks to Season 2, you have to wait for something like a “Last Chance” program at the end of season 2 to earn those season 1 guys to complete the sets.

This way you’re still able to earn the cards, but everything’s essentially a season behind and it- in theory- should encourage people to keep playing for them, knowing they can still use them at any time. Obviously this only applies to the cards you didn’t get. And then if you STILL don’t get them- too bad so sad, you now have to wait for the Forever program at the end of cycle.

I think Sets and Seasons was a good idea to spice the game up, but it just wasn't as enjoyable as the power creep. Was variety better? Yes. However, grinding for the same 99s over and over just isnt that exciting.

To be fair we do grind for the same 99s year after year after year anyway.

Yes, but these are a year apart in completely different games. Why should I have to grind for another 99 Mike Trout when I had to grind for his other 99 3 months ago. The card is still in my inventory, and this structure is fully planned, not the live content coincidences we saw with guys like Nick Kurtz.

If you like rocking a theme team they were mode breaking. Completely killed DD for me after Season 2. Honestly never really got into it again after that, even last year.

So they can do what they want. I don’t care for DD anymore. But I’m speaking up for other guys who like to use TT’s throughout the year.

@genopolanco_PSN How exactly was it game breaking? It created more lineup diversity.

@GoozeFn_PSN it’s already hard enough to field a viable TT as it is, so eliminating a large chunk of your lineup because a season was over made it nearly impossible. There weren’t enough wildcards to make up for it.

@genopolanco_PSN Are you specifically talking about team theme teams? We had new cornerstone captains at the beginning of every season to choose from. The variety was awesome. I used more players than ever before. For once, it didn’t feel like I was playing the same team every game.

@GoozeFn_PSN I am. Read my comment you originally replied to lol. I’m talking actual MLB theme teams, not switch hitter TTs which people seem to forget ran that game for a long time too.

There’s other reasons I hated it too though. I think it could’ve been at least ok. But like with most things SDS does, it was poorly executed and poorly planned out.

Anyways, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one that felt this way and they gave up on it after 2 years.

@genopolanco_PSN I’m with you on wanting theme teams to be better. Last year was a complete disaster for theme teams.

I knew this day would come... lol

This happens with almost everything... something gets done one way and people "hate on it", then when something new gets done the old way was "better".

Me personally I loved "Sets & Seasons" because it allowed for you to continue playing with different cards... in the years prior to this it felt like people were almost afraid to go get certain cards once they got the lineup they wanted and those players would complain that there was nothing else worth "grinding" (or "paying") for, at least with Sets & Seasons after a set amount of time you had to build your team again... but let's not pretend like you were forced back to your team looking like the "no money spent" team you start with filled with common and bronzes along with your one silver (or gold) card from your loyalty reward before you start your grind to unlock other cards.

Me personally I'd like an innings model with the ability to still do previous inning programs similar to how it's been the last few years.

The only thing right now that I would change is how the "Reward Path" works... I like what WWE 2K is about to do with their similar feature where you can still do a previous "Reward Path" even after a new "Reward Path" enters the game but you can only have one reward path active at a time.

So if I don't complete "1st Inning Reward Path", I would have the option to continue that "reward path" and then I can move on to "2nd Inning Reward Path" once that's done, or I could move on to the "2nd Inning Reward Path" and then go back to the "1st Inning Reward Path" once I complete it.
