Kind of Expected. Hope they don't make any more trades with the Red Sox as we have already acquired
RHP Hunter Dobbins, RHP Yhoiker Fajardo and RHP Blake Aita were the haul for Contreras
Earlier we got right-hander Richard Fitts and lefty prospect Brandon Clarke for GrayI am not sure Boston has any more pitchers we can get from them.
I am seeing fans from both sides calling the Contreras trade both good and bad so it must be a pretty decent one for both teams. Red Sox needed a 1B and the Cardinals are stockpiling young talent.

I'd call it salary relief since they are still paying the overwhelming share of his contract, although I think some of it is deferred. They are also eating some of Gray's Contract.
Still curious if they trade Donovan. From everything I have heard their asking price is high, as it should be . They have already agreed to arbitration so I say why not keep him
2026 is definitely going to be a let's see what we have. I think it will be a make or break year for players like Gorman and Walker
As for the game I hope we get the 99 versions of some of our flashbacks. This year other teams got the 99 versions of Goldy, Arenado, Holliday, McGwire, Rolen

Here is the trade
The Seattle Mariners have acquired All-Star Brendan Donovan. Deal is done. Full trade, per sources:
Mariners receive: Donovan
Cardinals receive: RHP Jurrangelo Cijntje, CF Tai Peete, OF Colton Ledbetter and two competitive-balance Round B picks
Rays receive: 3B Ben Williamson
Sol they got quantity, but not sure if they got quality as all the guys are still in the low minors. I remember Cijntje getting a lot of attention as a switch pitcher.
Okay, we have restocked our minors. Now develop them into good players as that has been the Cardinal Achilles heel in their recent history.

Fun reading the comments on this trade. Cardinals got 5 players in return for 2 years of Donovan. Some fans are saying it was an awful deal. I got news for them - The team had a losing season with Arenado, Contreras, Gray and Donovan. Donovan alone was not going to move the needle in the next 2 years.
Plus, any fan who has been paying attention knows that Bloom has been very upfront about the direction of the club, trying to turn it back into the draft and develop club it used to be.
I give Bloom credit. When He could not get the return he wanted out of Seattle alone they pulled in the Rays and got not only an OF prospect but a Comp B draft pick.
