I thought we were getting away from 80% old legends
-
They said they were going 90s-2000s legends for new legends, not necessarily for the release cards. The only older legends we have got for new legends have been George Foster, Dwight Evans, and Mantle. The latter of which was one of the most requested legends. I don’t really like them releasing the same old cards either but what can you do? They pay for the rights and have to get these guys some cards somehow
-
There are currently 110 legends that have cards in the game. Using a cutoff date of 1990 (Must have been playing in MLB past that date)
72 have played past 1990
38 did not play in the 90s and forward
So that is 65% players that have played in the 90's forward.

Player's best years aren't going to change over time. In addition, there are some favored card designs (It's not an accident that there's a LOT of cards from 1987)

Imo I just want lots of legends whether it be Cap Anson or Ichiro. I just want more cards to use

Exactly. We aren’t going to stop getting 2013 Chris Davis and 2011 Matt Kemp, because those were far and away their best years.

Dont forget about that Tebow card we also have. Its pretty legendary

Do people still not understand they can’t just put in whatever legends they feel like? I know it sucks getting the same cards from previous years but they can’t just make whoever they want
This plus there is just a finite amount of really talented players. I don't think anybody'll be lining up for a -0.2 career WAR Rafael Belliard...
I've been dying for a Rafael Belliard card. Itching for a useless bench bat. His card would literally have no bat at all. He'd just stand in the box with his hands in his pockets
Don't expect any power output anytime soon. He only hits homeruns in years that end in 7. (1 home run in 1987, 1 home run in 1997...his only career home runs). How did this guy play for 17 years?
One of if not the worst player in history to have a career longer than 10 years

Where is my Mackey Sasser card?

17 seasons...896 games played...he played in less than a third of the time...Now I'm getting interested...he must have been a great guy or something...

He was a good bunter which was all the rage back then. He also fielded decently.
He did coffee runs quickly and accurately, and would shine shoes during day games.
He also made a fierce casserole -
The content of players in this game is not an issue for me. I think SDS has done a great job with content, and the graphics in the game are superb. I just wish they would make pitching and fielding more rewarding to user input.

He also made a fierce casseroleFor those who like the movie 300, his middle name Leonidas so he probably had a fierce battle roar which helped distract other teams and led to late inning rallies. He also had a pretty interesting nickname according to baseball-reference (Pac-Man) which means he was probably either pretty good at playing the game (Atari was big in the 80’s) or he would run around the clubhouse making nom-nom noises chasing after ghosts like the Ghostbusters (another 80’s staple). And he is also the cousin of the slightly more well-known Ronnie Belliard (whom I always referred to as Manny Ramirez-Lite).
Dude was destined for a long career with facts like that!

What I don’t understand is what changed from older games to now. In MVP 05 they have every legend available to play. What changed? Why were games able to use everyone then and not now?
