Perspective of a senior player

Yes I'm old. I'm a 64yo man who has played the show since 2015 and as a lifelong baseball fan probably have a different perspective then the usual age group that plays this game. Growing up with a family that held season tickets for the orioles for many years I attended alot of games and saw alot of the legends play in person. People who play the show have different reasons for playing and find enjoyment in the game for different reasons. For me it's the nostalgia and using alot of players I got to see in person who at the time were just ballplayers trying to make it and then went on to become hall of farmers. I'm not a good player and play online minimally but still enjoy it win or lose. I'm sure there aren't many people my age who play but for the true baseball fan you can't beat it. There are people who play just to win at all costs and will dashboard if they don't but I just laugh at that and move on to the next game. Anyway I just wanted to share that even though video games are geared towards the younger generation there are still some old timers who jump in to have some fun also. I've thought about doing a YouTube channel geared towards the older crowd who play this game but not sure if enough older people play. Thank you SDS for providing many hours of enjoyment.

I salute you sir! There are not many here that are older than I am but you have me by a couple of years.

There used to be an old man that would comment on here. He claimed to have played high school ball with Darryl Strawberry. I blocked him because it’s sad watching someone’s mind go. I often wonder if he’s gone to the great beyond or if his kids threw him into an old folks home. I guess I’ll never know.

I'll be turning 62 later this month and the show has always been my favorite sports game. I'd be interested in your channel.

I'm 69 years old and have been playing the show since 2014. I only played so I'd have something to do with my young son. I got addicted to the game and play pretty much every day. I played on line for several years and did quite well but got tired of the disparaging texts and constant quitting. I've reached a point wheee I play franchise on legend level. I play because I enjoy game play and have no interest in being a master General manager. I play in concert with the ongoing season and stay updated on all transactions. If mlb makes a trade or DFA's a player, drops some one to the minors etc, I respond accordingly. I make moves for all 30 teams but play with the giants. I grew up a giants fan and saw Wille Mays, Willie Mcovey and company at candlestick park. I lead the league in my franchise batting .307 and in the upper third of the league in almost every offensive and pitching categories. My record is 52-11 at this point. Other than striking out more than I like, I have found legend level to be not much different from HOF or All Star. I love to talk about the game and the different techniques people use but it's hard to find anyone interested. For the last 11 years I've watched multiple videos on hitting , pitching and overall game play. At my age my vision and reflexes are not what they were so I have to have total understanding of the game as well as complete focus when I hit and pitch to have any chance.

I feel like a "spring chicken" here!!! I just turned 59 and have played Franchise on MLB The Show from the beginning. I just started played Diamond Dynasty with The Show 23, so this is my first time without Sets & Seasons. Like to original poster, I grew up going to MLB games a lot and was a die-hard Royals fan. Brett, Otis, Mayberry, Patek and the rest. Brett is the only one of that group that I have seen be in the game during the time that I have played DD, but would love to play at the Royals of the 70's and 80's. The younger crowd in this game really mimics what I have seen from the youth of today in general. No patience and a sense of entitlement that truly baffles me. Years of participation trophies haven't made our youth better people, in fact quite the opposite.

I’m 50. I’ve played since 2015. 2017 was my favorite year! That was the year I made WS several times and the only time I went 12-0 in BR. I still remember my reward……Phil Niekro smh. All that for Phil Niekro. I’m nowhere near as good as I was 8 years ago. My reaction time has slowed over the years. The game has also become a lot harder in my opinion. I remember at one time, if anyone pitched me high and inside…..it was GONE. That is no longer the case.
I don’t like how expensive the cards have become. It’s not as easy to make stubs anymore. I’m simply not willing to sit in front of the screen for days flipping cards. In the past lightning cards were always easily obtainable with a little bit of effort. That is no longer the case.
One positive is they have made live series cards relevant again and I think that’s cool.

Hey guys , we need to put together and old farts franchise league. I don't have a clue where to start. What do you guys think? We could pick our favorite team and sim the rest of the teams. I'm guessing we're all at about the same skill level.
