Really misread this card market

Pulled JoRam, sold him at 105k, now he's at 130k sell
Pulled the Skeener, sold him at 65k, now at 78k sellAround 40k in precious missed stubs, ugh
-
@DoIHearBossMusic_PSN, that stuff is hard to stomach after the fact... I'd pulled Marte and sold him at 93K a little over a week ago.
-
Its all relative. A few years back, I remember paying 80k + for JRAM, only to see him fall to a low diamond, then to a gold after a few roster updates. That one really stung. All of these Live Cards fluctuate over a seasons, but ultimately, they will all go down.....a lot. As the great Mickey Rivers used to say "Ain't no sense in worrying" about it.......just have fun
-
@ebbets1957_XBL, ouch... yeah, having fun is all you can do. I consider myself fortunate for pulling that Marte in the first place; even after screwing myself, it was still almost 84K more stubs (after the fee) than I'd had before.
-
That's funny. I did the exact same thing with Marte. I'm looking at him now and realizing I missed an op at stubs but truthfully I'm happy with what I got for him.

I guess I’m surprised at people selling their live series diamonds right now. They’re gonna be the best cards in the game for a while with this year’s iteration of power creep. Or am I missing something?
For example, I’ve had decent pack luck (nowhere near a good as I had last year... 2 Ohtani cards over the first weekend!). May favorite two cards to hit with right now are LS Alvarez and Seager. I’m loving pitching with Skubal and Skenes. And leading off with De La Cruz is broken. Plus a slew of other lower LS cards. Why sell them? What other cards are possibly worth it?

There are several reasons people may sell. I sold mine (as long as they were not NL Central) because I wanted to complete the NL Central Collection for Simmons as soon as I could.
-
Better to sell and have it go higher than to buy and have it go lower
-
I pulled J Ram again the other night and sold him for 125k. He was almost 150 tonight. I bought Harper and Wheeler and Sale to complete those teams. Kicking myself for not buying Skenes. I thought I pulled him yesterday but it was good ole Bubba Chandler
-
@JDHalfrack_PSN, I can't speak for anyone but me, but I usually go with cards I like vs. trying to get "the best" cards... within reason, of course. I'm not running silvers and bronzes out there in Ranked. But I do tend to enjoy a team made more of legends and future-star types (I'm an A's fan, I like the "what if" aspect) and will usually go that route rather than take current stars, even if they're better cards.
I have Holiday and Juan Soto (collected for Santana), but I play my Ranked with Max Clark and gold Jaison Chourio in the outfield. I have Lindor and Elly (collected for Sanders), but I play Carson Williams at short; I find him more interesting, and I think Elly's an overrated, one-sided player in actuality, so I'd rather not have him play for the West Contra Costa Frogs (despite his spectacularly undeserved 90 fielding in the game).
The game is more fun for me if I actually like the players I'm controlling, so it's mostly prospects and certain legends for me at this point... when I happen upon a valuable LS, I usually go for the cash option to buy more of what I like.

My goal in DD each year is to complete as many of the Collections as I can. (The GOAT collection ones for playing online are not attainable for me).
So I tend to keep all non-duplicates. I did pull ketel marte from a headliner pack yesterday, saw his value and came thisclose to selling him.

Resist the urge, ketel is the best 2B right now and one of the best hitters, he will compete with new cards longer than other LS and be one of the latter under 90s to drop in price.
-
Yeah, I got burned with Elly cards, I bought him at 15k. Pulled a dupe sold for 18k. Then saw him up to 36k and luckily I pulled another dupe and sold that one. Basically I have been holding all LS diamonds I pull that are not dupes. I figure the market will eventually go down but I remember some of those LS diamonds increasing in price even a couple months after release. My all time burn was paying 100k for Vlad Jr one year and he dropped to 85 overall the next week and gold a couple weeks after that. LS cards really are a gamble, sometimes they work out other time not so much.

If I luck out and pull the high price cards, I'll sell...because then I can get the rest of the collections done. I'll immediately put in another buy order for like, 70,000 stubs or something because some time in August/September it'll get filled
