¿Cover athlete for The show 25?

With the MLB 2024 season already wrapped up and awards given out it is time to look forward for the future. San Diego studio just came out earlier with some details for the future of the show 2025 so with that said I want to start a trend going forward. with that said who do you think will be the cover of the 2025 MLB show? I’ve been thinking for almost 2 to 3 weeks on who can be in the cover of MLB the show 25 so with that said here on my top five athletes + 1 wildcard that I believe can be able to make the cover of the show 25
- Bobby Witt Jr
- Elly De La Cruz
- Francisco Lindor
- Freddie Freeman
- Juan Soto
- (WC) Corbin Carroll
This is just a list That I have in mind Other individuals may think differently from this list, but who do you think it’s going to make the cover of the of next year’s MLB the show 25

I think they've shown over the last few years that its not always gonna be a top 5-10 player in the league. Both Jazz and Vlad Jr had mediocre seasons going into their cover years so im going with someone like Jacob Stallings or Nico Hoerner.

Soto would be the obvious guess.
Elly De La Cruz is also not a bad guess. Maybe that is why he doesn't have a 99 yet so that they can offfer a 99 version as a preorder bonus.

I understand if its Elly de la Cruz, but in my opinion, it has to be bobby witt. with the season he had, I think he's deserving of the cover athelte

For SDS I think it is less about who is deserving and instead who they think will sell the most copies.

2023 - Jazz (NL East)
2022 - Ohtani (AL West)
2021 - Tatis (NL West)
2020 - Baez (NL Central)
2019 - Harper (NL East)
2018 - Judge (AL East)
2017 - Griffey Jr (AL West)
2016 - Donaldson (AL East)
2015 - Puig ( NL West)10 Years - One Central division player. They like their big names from the east and west coast teams.
I'd love to see a guy like Witt Jr get it, or someone else from a team that has never been on the cover in the last 19 iterations but in the end they want to choose somebody whose face on the cover and every marketing push on the web and elsewhere will help sell the game.

SDS is a PC-obsessed company, overtly so. The cover selection won't have as its top criteria statistical performance. If that had been at the top, the cover for MLB 24 would have been Matt Olsen, Ronald Acuna, or Shohei Ohtani. Acuna wasn't selected because of a contract conflict with another baseball video game company. Ohtani was not selected because he was the cover athlete on a previous release. That left Olsen, and it shouldn't have been a tough choice.

and Baez shouldn't have even been on the cover. it should have been someone like bellinger or acuna, maybe even degrom.

Yep, typed that up a little too fast apparently. He was right up there with Jazz in the bad choice for a cover category.
