And the reason the feature was removed as a means to gain program XP and stats.

They basically went with "you can play the game however you want! Oh, no not that way. No not that way either. Or that. Oh no no no not that way. It's however you want! As long as it's the way we want you to play!"
And yes, I do miss the Yetis too

Not wrong, but not 100% correct either

Not really because in mini seasons the teams picked were competitive.
The yetis (I never played them) were a bunch of mediocre, often slow players (think catchers) all played out of position. Even the bench was mostly 1B as they usually could not be subbed in by the CPU at other positions. They would make constant errors.
They were designed to help players grind at higher difficulty levels.
Here is an actual video just about the creation and history of the Yetis

I don't believe mini seasons are necessarily user created teams anymore either. Several times players have appeared in mini seasons CPU Team before they have been released to the player base which leads one to believe mini seasons teams are now created by SDS.

I miss the Yeti's, it was fun playing them at Polo Grounds and getting Inside the parkers over and over lol, I didn't even care about the XP, it was just pure fun lol

It wouldn't be the first time SDS lied to us.

Classic is the only one that is user created. TA ones are one team per division plus one team with better cards (typically the Whales). The others I think are more random but obviously SDS created
This has been consistent the last two years as far as I know
