Watched Rise of Skywalker and... (SPOILERS)

critics and fans are split.
I read the script. I can see how the action is entertaining. But in terms of how it resolves story arcs and how it impacts teh overall Star Wars narrative this movie is straight garbage. Was this trilogy necessary. The problem with a series so based heavily in nostalgia is that it does not stand on its own it like a bad copy. In 10 years when you want a Star Wars fix are you watching this or the OG trilogy. For example the Rebels cartoon was nostalgic but it pushes the Star Wars narrative. -
The mere fact Palpatine is back ruins everything. How is Anakin or Luke the chosen one who brings balance to the force is neither actually defeated Palpatine

I enjoyed the hell out of it. The unresolved questions are a bit frustrating and I can see the criticism about it changing the “chosen one” narrative, but it doesn’t matter that much to me. Prophecies aren’t guaranteed to be true. Anakin still had a huge role in defeating the Sith

Someone pointed out if Anakin was the one who talked to Ben on the death star wreckage that would have been cool. I agree so much, if they added that, that would be a LEGENDARY scene. Missed opportunity but don't get me wrong, still amazing with Han Solo.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, but still, great scene. Probably the best of the whole movie.

Warching it now. So far it’s meh. Laughing at the guy who say First Order is all white. Males. Tons of female sounding stormtroopers. More high ranking Blacks in First Order. Thinking about joining

So many missed opportunities.
- 100% should’ve been Anakin at Desth Star wreckage
- Emporer shouldn’t have comeback. Knights of Ren should have all been big bad.
3.. KOR should have all been bloodlines of former Sith Lords come together to reincarnate Most powerful Sith Lords. And Ignite some Ancient Super Sith Weapon. This could have led to a better fight at the end. With Rey and Ben fighting KORband then Sith including reincarnated Emporer. Ben would be the key because Anakin NOT dying a Sith Lord would change the dynamic. Thus Anakin would bring balance through Ben

I'm still thinking the same way about Anakin being on the wreckage but someone did point out what age would they depict him to be if Force Ghost Luke is so old in his ghost? They would have to make him arguably the super old version which doesn't even look like Anakin.

There are a few ways to deal with that
- Make him Hayden C as when Anakin died the Jedi he was young
- They could have used CGI to age him

So true. There were somethings they could have done better. But given the hand they were dealt you can tell their priorities were to not screw up. That fear led to them making a movie with retreads through the saga. The movie should have been called

I was waiting for the defeated Sith lords to come out of the arena crowd. How awesome would it have been if Darth Maul came out of the shadows??
Palpatine surviving and having a bloodline was just lazy......at least touch on how he survived.
He looked more like a puppet being held up by all the technology -
Yup. The movie was fun, but it just didn’t add anything. The worse part is that the stories in legends that this displaced are 10x better. They could have just brought them to the big screen
