From someone who blasts SDS and can't stand them this year -- that's a kindergartener's analysis. The "never" listen to the community? -- Uh, they abandoned last year's DD approach because it was unpopular. They made BR 10-0. They made RS a program.
They're "shady"? How? Actually, they're in-your-face with their greed this year, the opposite of shady.
They suck, but comments like that don't forward the narrative at all.
-
@Loyal-Wiglaf Same lazy cards and art work. Barely any new players. Shady tactics on stubs with resells. Horrible support that hides behind an app and an email. Would you like more????

I'm sticking it out for the rest of this Season and will see if any changes are made for season 2 (not expecting any).
All I ever try and do is earn all of the best Cardinal cards for offline play. So far this year only 1 of the teams top five cards is earnable through a program (Torre Team Affinity). 3 are in packs and one is a collection reward that I will never have enough cards for.
-
Im most likely done after this season. I can't stand the format of season and sets. 100% the reason i quit the game last year, and 100% the reason why i didn't buy the game this year (gamepass) for first time in years. Add to that the game just so pack heavy this year its crazy 🤪. It sucks but i have no problems with quitting a game. Did it with madden after a lifetime of playing that, and The Show is about to follow the same fate.
-
I'll be sticking it out. I'm enjoying gameplay this year and I've learned to just ignore the pack cards and not even worry about them. Once you can convince yourself to just kind of tune them out and not even worry about whether you have them or not it helps. I'm having fun just playing with the free cards out there and any lucky pulls.

But, they just added the Future City stadium content!!!!

I love that you’re enjoying the game, as others are too I’m sure. I genuinely mean that too
But despite that, this game still has so many flaws and SDS is doing the absolute worst job they ever have since I’ve been playing back in 2016
Those things can be mutually exclusive

@doobiebross66-72
Not only that, but they peddle these pipeline and middling players like they are some big draw, where are the bigger names? Where does the extra Microsoft and Nintendo money go? They seemed to have gotten better caliber players when it was JUST Sony.
Really a L game this year

Same. The second I am no longer enjoying or believe the juice is not worth the squeeze then I am out. I quit the last two maddens within 2 months and will not be buying this year. The changes to this game in addition to the lack of game play changes (foul balls) that they refuse to make also lead me to being done with this game.
Honestly, co-op with my buddy is about the only thing keeping me interested right now and that remains to be seen how long that continues as we approach the end of S1 and the grind starts all over again.
The only game that truly holds my interest for longer than a month or two is nhl because they have the EASHL one's mode and I can just skate around clobbering everyone. I spend more time laughing and smiling playing that mode than I have almost any game in my life lol
I will be trying NCAA this year but if it's not fun or basically a madden clone of abilities and youtube warriors then I will be out on that too.
I quit gaming for a solid 8-10 years while starting my family and career. It would suck to quit it again because it brings back memories of playing as a kid I am perfectly happy to give it up over more time spent in my shop woodworking.

No, they just renamed sets as 'seasons'. It's still the same with expiring cards, and it's even more strict since there's no carryover from season to season (except wildcards).
I'm playing through season 1 and then will decide if I play anymore. I have no interest in NCAA football so that's not a factor. It's just that SDS has taken their game in a direction I don't find appealing. Replacing actual content with packs in the store is lame and predatory.
On that subject, they're even doing the cash grab in a clumsy way since there's little reason to spend a lot on packs that (1) will be outclassed in a week or two tops and (2) eventually expire anyway. The game is just packs packs packs with no incentive to even buy the [censored] things.
Last thing - while voicing opinions is important, the only difference I or anyone can make is to stop buying the game. I caved at the last minute and got '24 while fully expecting the game to be subpar and now regret it.

I dont have anything to do for a week now... Ill play RTTS for a half hour or so each night and then play Madden

I actually enjoy Madden franchise more than anything in this game. If you could lock in the gold and sim training that would make it even better -- training the same drills gets really boring. A refreshed UI and better draft classes would be nice too (although there is a slider for classes that actually works).
Nothing in this game holds me like Madden's franchise, and I wouldn't have said that 3 years ago. The games are going in opposite directions for me, a franchise player who's disgusted with online monetization modes.

Its the lack of transparency, that bothers me. They know there are issues, even Content Creators are calling them out. The community screams at the top of their lungs about the issues. I agree with the pack issues. The low diamond pull issues and lack of stubs issues. i'm about 75k from the first boss choice pack. i'm 190 cards into the collection, i prioritized the core live series collection which i completed. Why would i spend money on packs? Why would i worry about the collection rewards as we are what a month away from Season 2...i can only use 1 S1 Card? Plus TA C3 comes out friday with 30 99's.....it makes everything else obsolete. Including any stubs spent on packs previously.
My biggest issues are 2 things,
Foul Balls...its the most rediculous thing ive seen. 2 years ago it was an issue if you remember the "working as intended" line from Ramone. It wasn't they knew it wasn't and addressed it after the season. Last years foul balls werent as bad, but 2024....it makes me want 2022 back.
The other thing is exit velo. it needs to be adjusted, it needs to be turned down. i've hit way too many 500+ foot homers, capped by Joe Torre hitting one 565 last week. I get it home runs are cool. But when you're playing someone that has a 15 foul ball at bat, and then a perfect released pitch trails randomly to the middle of the plate ...its an issue. SDS, has said nothing, no live streams, no twitter chatter about it. Meaning they know and dont want to deal with the blow back.
NCAA is coming out in 2ish months...if they have an Ultimate Team, i'll be making the switch and not looking back. At least with EA you know exactly what to expect.
-
Lol, if NCAA has ultimate team, I'm probably passing on it. Means that dynasty will get the shaft and almost all attention will go to that mode...
EA actually made Madden franchise much better in the recent past. So at this point I see them in that way as being actually better than SDS if you care about franchise.
-
@Loyal-Wiglaf to each their own. I have enjoyed MUT and franchise. Regardless I’m giving it a try and like I said it could very well be the end of me playing MLB the show

Im curious to see how they handle being [censored] on through social media and the forums once everyone comes to the realization that in order to get even 1 of the Season 1 collection rewards, people are gonna have to spend money. I know me personally, im at 166 cards. Done every (offline) program and im a double XP weekend away from Kyle Seager.
So i have 4 cards left in the reward path, 30 team affinity and about 16 more TN to get in the next 30 days. So that puts me around 216 of the 280 needed for Mays/Brett or Paige. Unless they plan on giving us another 100 cards in the next 30 days, no one is getting those rewards.

If they're smart...theres some changes coming, especially with XP and reverting it back to previous years amounts, seems like alot of people are being left behind this year...which certainly is not a good look for them
-
I personally blame the execs and mlb, game was fine before they had to start making it for 4 other systems without getting much extra staff.
-
@PAinPA that's good point. Something also changed when 24 release cause I didn't have any problems with 23. There was occasional bugs here and there but nothing crazy like now. Never had a freeze off in coop, never got penalized for staying in a freeze off and still winning the game by runs, home runs were nowhere NEAR the amount today and everyone was packed with 99s at the end of the year. Foul balls and making contact at dirt balls weren't a thing at least not like now.
Something changed with 24 and it wasn't good.
