https://theshow.com/news/new-improvements-to-gameplay-in-mlb-the-show-24/
Key takeaways
- New Animations: Roughly 400 new animations and logic improvements meticulously address any remaining areas needing attention focusing on fielder urgency.
- New Throws: Added a variety of new 1B throws from the ground to all bases, that enable 1B to efficiently make throws from all overstretch scenarios. 0
- Pitcher Animations: To combat the new disengagement rule, additional animations will allow pitchers to step off to fake throw and potentially nab the runner trying to take advantage of the third disengagement.
- Base Sizes: Fans will also notice the new base sizes in ’24, and of course we’ve captured new logic and tag animations to account for the extra coverage needed.
Another interface that saw changes and improvements was Pinpoint Pitching. Four new pitching gestures have been included, bringing the number up to 14. We’ve also made some additional changes to the sinker, which is now more difficult to execute based on community feedback. As a result of these new implementations, user skill will continue to be of the utmost importance.
We’ve covered defensive fielding and pitching, but we know some of you are curious about improvements made to hitting as well. We received very positive feedback around most aspects of gameplay throughout the course of MLB The Show 23, and we agree that hitting is in a great place at the moment. In order to carry that momentum forward into MLB The Show 24, hitting balance remains largely unchanged.

I don’t think there were a lot of improvements needed to gameplay to be honest. 23 played better than any other version by far IMO. What we need to see is improvements to RTTS, DD and Franchise.

@GoozeFn I'd like to add Stadium Creator to that list
-
Of course they didn’t touch hitting what positive feed back are they getting absolute joke

The majority of negative feedback that I have heard from the community has been regarding:
- Bad content with Sets and Seasons.
- Too many foul balls.
- Bad PCI homeruns.
- Defense diving is OP.
- Poor matchmaking and no ping.
- No upgraded engine for current gen consoles.
So of course, they choose not to improve those things. SMH

Maybe that had more feedback and your list had less priority? Think about that one … maybe.
I am fine with hitting staying the same unless other things get improved. But that is my opinion, maybe some guys should think about this stance too.
EDIT: Just read it again. They adressed the PAR for curveballs. That was a big question … and one I read lots of time. Maybe that was one example of a bigger priority? -
What a negative title. Sounds like you should find a different game to play.

You’re talking about the people in here which is like what like 50-75 people from thousands that play. A very small portion of the user base. I’m sure those surveys they gave here and likely through other mediums are more important than posts on this forum. Usually posts made by the same people on repeat.

@fubar2k7
Only SDS would know that for sure, but I would guess a lot higher of a percentage than that. Regardless, many of those gameplay issues are due to H2H games being played on AS. Once you get to HOF, gameplay improves and many of those issues are diminished.Along with improving their content structure, them offering an upgraded performance version for current gen consoles and having an online ping notification, were the things highest on my list.

You are correct that only they know and I am correct that you only know what you see here.

...and Twitter (X)...Reddit...YouTube.Yeah to say it's only 50/75 people when their social media responses seem to be overwhelmingly negative is interesting

If all „criticism“, „all the Ls“ and all negative „I will not buy the game“ were an indicator of masses of people, then there would be no game, because nobody would buy it.
That‘s a classic act of cognitive bias. Even here there are a few guys who mostly find the game „very good“ (me included), but still it is „the majority is saying that it is bad“ -
@YOSHI24
A lot of those who offer constructive criticism, like myself, take the time to state their complaints because we care about the franchise, purchase this game year after year, and desire to see it succeed. If SDS cares about their game, then they will listen and act on the recommendations of their player base. Sometimes it seems they do listen, while other times they do not. Regardless, while I do not always agree, I do respect the opinions of those who have invested in this franchise and have played this game for a longer period of time.
