Discussion of Returning Players in MLB the Show 24

I know there is always excitement in figuring out and seeing which new legends will appear in next year's game, but I think it is time we had a conversation. I think that we should be more focused on trying to bring back some of the players that have already been in the game in previous years, but are no longer available. My list of players that we had before but are no longer in the game and SHOULD come back include:
Ted Williams! (Possibly the best hitter in baseball)
Ty Cobb
Rogers Hornsby
Will Clark
Fred McGriff
Orel Hershiser (Still listed as a legend, but did not receive a card)
Kenny Lofton (Same as above)
Kirk Gibson (Same as above)
Matt Williams
Kirby Puckett
Cliff Floyd
Yogi Berra
Carlton Fisk
Dwight Evans
Benito Santiago
Dale Murphy
...In saying that, I do realize that SDS doesn't have the money to have everyone in the game and they have to make compromises, but I wish they had a couple of these old players back.
Are there any players you wish to see again that used to be in the game?

@w1ck3dx24
Yep good list... For the returning list I would also like to see Beltre, Belle, and Beltran. For new ones, I hope Strawberry, Gooden, Bonilla, Jose Rijo, and Clemons get in the game. My fav player card is Eric "The Red" Davis, so I hope he stays and has some more 80's cards to team him up with. The 70's-80's Cap Bench is cool, but the current potential roster for that boost could be a lot better.
-
Beltre and Beltran are different animals. They never were legends in the game.
-
I started MLBTS in 21 and missed out on Ichiro …
Other than that (and additionally to the guys mentioned):
- Carlos Baerga
- Omar Vizquel
- Mark Teixeira
- Bernie Williams
- Paul O‘Neill
- Chuck Knoblauch
- Dave Winfield
- Kent Hrbek
- Dan Gladden
- Jack Morris
- Steve Avery
- Barry Zito
- Jose Canseco
- Lance Berkman
… and the list goes on … we need lots of em
-
Brett Butler, Julio Franco, Darryl Strawberry, Ichiro, Ty Cobb, Juan Gonzalez and Ruben Sierra would make me very happy.

If they ever made a true Eric Davis card that was true to his abilities when he was at his prime it’d have to be one of the most exhilarating cards ever as he was one of the most incredible players back in his early years with the Reds. Can’t mention him without Strawberry. What I wouldn’t give to swing his bat on here talk about wrist strength I love me some Darryl and since I’m talking this era I gotta throw in Hojo per the norm. I’d love to have him in my infield

I like this list. Unfortunately, Knoblach's distaste for the game will probably dissuade him from giving his rights out.

@Blind_Bleeder Just curious. What did Chuck do? … or as we call him in German: Chuck Garlic

Maybe he’s talking about the spousal abuse incidents that got his Twins Hall of Fame ceremony cancelled by the team about 10 years ago.

It's not what he did or didn't do. He walked away from the game because he'd had enough..

It was before that. He has never been back to MN after he left baseball. His distaste for MN is very strong.

@YOSHI24_XBL A LOT of these lists or players that should be legends have no merit whatsoever, it's just because 'likes them"....Brett Buttler? in the league 17 years and 1 time , yes ONE TIME ALL STAR, career batting average of 290 ok that' s good, what were the rest of his stats? Exactly no one cares to remember cause he was an average player and this one above Twins Fan at all by chance or "no These are just the greatest players ever" and not ever mentioning great Twins that have been left out like Tony Olivia or Rod Carew..nope had to stick in that 4 year time span when you chose to be a fan because they won two world series. Pucket of course, Dave Windfield yes but what he did as a yankeee not as a twin, lol Dan Gladden? Why not Steve Lombardozi or Greg Gagne or Gary Gaetti? Love how just because people have memories of a player(s) or team in a brrief period they were "all legends bruh" as everything has to be the greatest or worst now in society no one can just be very good. That's an insult . Good Lord. Oh i forgot Randy Bush and Tim Laudner.

we need bonds, Arod and clemens in mlb the show period
-
@ace_hardlight28_PSN A-Rod is the most likely I think, because he admitted to his use of PEDs, but that's about it. I believe Bonds had some disagreement with the pa (seen it on here, but don't fully remember), and Clemens is a possibility if he opens up about his use.
-
Love your list. As a Giants fan, love seeing Will Clark and Matt Williams there. Kevin Mitchell would be another good one, as would Robbie Thompson. Maybe Angel Pagan, too.
As a Red Sox fan, Manny Ramirez, Tony Conigliaro, Jackie Jensen and Rico Petrocelli.

Ugh. I don't care how good he is, I would actively avoid any A-Rod cards.
Even most Yankee fans can't stand the guy.
-
Manny would be fun to see. Ted would be great even if they do a Season 4 HOF card this year, and Dustin and Jason are underrated. Yaz is definitely someone who I haven't seen in any recent games to my knowledge, but would be interesting to see how they treat him

yankee fan here. i appreciated everything arod gave the team. he also vindicated himself in 09. hes an all time great player period
With or without the roids? How many times did he test positive? I know it was multiple times.
He's not like Bonds who has a clear non-steroid period where he was still great.
Not to mention his obnoxious personality, girlie-smacking the ball out of the glove in '04 and then acting like he did nothing, etc.
Also, if you have one postseason to point to in 2009 to vindicate his choker label, here were his stats from the 2009 World Series:
.250 avg
1 HRYeah the rest of his postseason was pretty great, but let's not act like he was Mr. October.
