Where are the Twins cards in Set 5?
-
The Twins haven’t gotten one single card outside of the 3 cards for Team Affinity in Set 5. Today would have been the perfect opportunity to release a Retro Finest Chili Davis from the 1991 season with the Twins when he won the World Series and was a key member of that team. Instead they gave him his third card from the Angels and selected his 1995 season which wasn’t all that amazing and he had better years with the Angels. He hit for a good average, but only 20 homers. We’re still waiting on a 99 Joe Nathan, Bert Blyleven, and Torii Hunter. The Twins only got 1 finest card as well and the Tigers got 5 even though the Twins won the division. That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
-
@Blackheim2000 no one is waiting on bert he stinks, real twins fans are waiting on 99 mauer part 2, and 99 kubel.
-
If the Twins wanted Set 5 cards, maybe they should have beaten the Astros and gotten to the ALCS.
-
@chucky97___ I know Bert usually stinks in the game, but that’s more on SDS only making certain pitches effective in the game. He’s in the Hall of Fame after all and should have a 99. Kubel’s not in the game and what would be the point of giving us another 99 Mauer when we can use the Kaiju 99 we already have in a couple weeks.
-
As someone who uses a Twins build n ranked often, I really wanted a Captain Polanco, rather than Morneau.
-
@BJDUBBYAH I agree. Or bring back that 99 Finest Polanco from a few years ago.
-
Bly had one of the greatest curveballs I’ve ever seen. Ive never even been able to make a frisbee move the way he could flip that baseball
-
@Blackheim2000 nah we want 99 jason kubel milestone cycle i could care less about the other twins cards they drop, they usually stink anyways, we got a lot love in set 4.
-
I'd love a 1984 Ken Hrbek Finest please.
-
@arvcpa we want Kirby Puckett.

That was, when I last checked, pretty much the case for all of the playoff teams. They did not get a lot of Finest or Retro Finest. It has to be because they all got an influx of high rated cards during the playoffs.
- Phillies only have 4 with the new addition of the Harper card (which is nearly impossible to get)
- Astros only have 4
You take away the Postseason cards from the Rangers then they have only gotten the 2 finest and 1 captain card.
The Royals have only gotten 3 and they did not have an influx of cards from the postseason.

@Dolenz To be fair, I know the Royals haven’t gotten enough love this season or any season for that matter. This highlights the major problem with Sets and Seasons in that we lose so many cards from our theme teams each season. A lot of the Twins good cards were from Set 3 and now can’t be used in Set 5 . So, they should add some more Twins cards to replace those cards. Except they didn’t. SDS needs to add way more legends into the game as well to make this system work. I was shocked when I downloaded a crappy MLB mobile game one time, only to find out that they had far more legends in that than in MLB the Show.

I know how what you mean. As a Cardinals fan these cards are no longer usable for me until season 6
99 Bob Gibson (Set 1)
99 Ozzie Smith (Set 1)
99 Jim Edmonds (Set 1)
99 Jordan Walker (Set 1)
99 Stan Musial (Set 2)
99 Lars Nootbar (Set 2)
99 Trevor Rosenthal (Set 3)In addition SDS decided to make the 99 Version of Arenado a Rockie and the only season 5 eligible card for him on a theme team is his live series card.
They also gave Goldschmidt's 99 overall Card to Arizona.
They never even gave Lou Brock a 99 card.
I have a feeling that many teams have the same issues but we just notice them more on our favorite team.
As for other baseball games having more legends, many times it is because they don't need to get the likeness rights. Look at a game like Out Of The Park Baseball. They have tons of legends in their card collecting mode but all of those cards are generic looking cards with no pictures of the player.

@SaveFarris
lol a bit harsh... but somewhat true. -
The 99 Joe Nathan: I've been especially waiting for him all year. And of course, the 99 Torii Hunter too.
-
The Twins have a bunch of Set 4 playoff cards. Set 4 cards never expire so aside from the number on the corner of the card they are effectively the same thing as set 5 cards
-
Correct me if I am wrong but Bert Blyleven is the only Twins player that played in either of our WS wins in the entire game and that was 1987. No one from the 1991 WS win is in the game. Pretty sad no representation and their decision to take Puckett out of the game.
-
@virusts Wow I never thought about that. Great point!
-
@RevCuddyer Chili Davis was part of the 1991 World Series team.
-
@Blackheim2000 That's true, good point. I guess I took the comment of @Redd666ish_PSN to be more that Byleven is the only one in the game with a Twins card / only one that gets a Twins' captain boost, which is a fair point. All the more reason to have been considered for a Chili card.
