Spider-Man 2 has been great. I’m about half way done. As for this game. I actually have been playing more than ever.

Looking forward to starting up SM2! The first one was amazing and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the new one. The most negative critiques seem to be that it’s similar to the original, which is more than fine with me.

Glad you’re enjoying MLB23! The gameplay is as good as it’s been as long as I’ve been playing. I probably just need a break from MLBTS. It accounts for about 95% (or more!) of my video game time each year, so it’s bound to get stale. Taking 4 months away is probably not a bad idea.

Finally (FINALLY!) got a ps5, so I will be busy with Spider-man 2, Hogwarts, Elden Ring, and Horizon: Forbidden West.

Those are all great, even though I am not personally an Elden Ring fan. I have played the others and loved them all.

Lots of open world goodness on that list.

Personally I never play MLB The Show every day. Maybe for a few weeks each year immediately following release but I always mix in other games which is why I don't aim for 100% completion of MLB The Show. I have not done every program, not completed any collections, etc. I know for a fact that I would get burnt out if I tried that.

This year alone, among other titles I did

    Horizon Forbidden West
    Spiderman 2
    Baldurs Gate 3 (100 hours)
    Starfield (100 hours)
    Assassin's Creed Mirage
and many others between PS5, Xbox Series X, PC and Virtual Reality

    @Dolenz

Ah! Forgot about Baldur’s Gate. That’s on my to-play list too. I definitely will be playing Spider-man, Horizon, and Hogwarts, but I could see myself going for BG3 in place of Elden rings. But it’s going to be hard enough to play through all three of those before MLB24, so that may have to wait until next year.

Those games all sound like so much fun man I wish you the best. I’ve had several games sitting in my queue for a while now and I just can’t seem to start any of them because I keep thinking something different is going to happen here but it hasn’t yet for me either. If I see that you actually pull this off I believe I can draw some inspiration from it to break away as well. For me I think it’s the temptation of being able to pick up the controller and get straight to action in minutes and the games can be intense but not too time consuming which is nice for all of us working stiffs and it’s this same thing that keeps me from setting it down for a new game because I think that it’ll take forever to get into it or something. I’m not far behind you and I just hope to see you succeed honestly I wish you the best partner don’t look back when you turn away lest you be like those nazis in Raiders of the Lost Ark

Agree with most of the posters above. The game becomes part of our daily routine and the idea of walking away means disrupting that routine. This years game had by far the most amount of redundant cards and unnecessary grinding that made it feel like a part time job just to keep up with. I started playing DD in 2020 and really enjoyed 20 and 21, 22 not as much, and this year even less than 22 save for some gameplay improvements. So if the trend continues it doesn’t bode well for me in 24.

I can see how it would get to you. I have played it a lot myself but I must admit I’ve enjoyed the new sets and seasons format. I’ve also replayed RDR2, Jedi Survivor and Miles Morales since the game came out plus SM2. I have a lot more time to play other games than most people. My “the game drives me crazy” moments have come and gone several times during the last few months.

Didn’t really feel it this year. I played a lot less often than I usually do. I don’t really have the motivation or desire to play, so I think it’s probably best to wrap it up for the year. Maybe it’s the sets and seasons. Maybe it’s just that I have played (essentially) the same game nearly every day since 2019 and I’m burned out. Either way, i am probably done until next March and hopefully some time away will rekindle some excitement.

Finally (FINALLY!) got a ps5, so I will be busy with Spider-man 2, Hogwarts, Elden Ring, and Horizon: Forbidden West.

Hold down the fort, gentlemen, and I’ll be back in a few months!

I've been thinking of moving on to one of my other games as well. I have lots of games i could move on to, i still want Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West

    Star Wars Survivor
    Hogwarts
    Resident Evil 4
    Dead Space
    The Last of Us
    God of War Ragnarok

I'm doing the same. This game is 100% not fun anymore. I'm focusing on fortnite and cod. The previous games I've played all year but this year the fun stopped about a month ago, they definitely killed it with the lack of great content.

It’s wasn’t so much a lack of great content but more about an insane amount of duplicate content that required excessive grinding to acquire.

Right, I mean why would I want to grind for a card I already have a better version of at this moment when in 30 days id be able to use any card? It's pointless at this time of the year which makes it no longer fun.

There was no way sets and seasons was not going to have insane amounts of duplicated cards. They just don't have the rights to enough players to do sets without duplicates.

The problem is the fact that the gamers have proven that they will pay big stubs to have that latest and greatest 99 Schwarber, Carroll, De La Cruz, Trout etc card so they keep pumping them out.

Meanwhile there has only been one 99 Mays, Musial, Babe Ruth, Mantle, etc. And most of them were no longer valid for season play by the all-star break. I have to assume there is a program upcoming, or maybe they think they can keep us engaged in Season 6 with new versions of these cards.

This year hasn't been as much fun as previous years , so I feel you. Hogwarts is great. Try replaying some of your favorites that are PS5 games as well to really get the difference. I play World of Warships and the colors are more vibrant and realistic than before. Also, the new Star Wars is the best thing EA has put out since M15. ACMirage is short, but fun.

    @Dolenz

I hope that is the case although retaining what’s left of the player base at this point is a lost cause. That ship sailed months ago. I completely agree on them neglecting the legends in favor of releasing 5 versions of todays stars. I have to believe that they feel the majority of casual players only care about juiced cards of current players and future stars. Sadly, most of the younger players don’t even know who Gehrig or Mays even are. It’s a calculated strategy to attract new players to the game and phase out the disgruntled older players that have grown tired of the copy paste releases of the past 3 or 4 years. At least that’s how I see it.

I hope you'll be back in force for 2024. I've certainly missed your posts this year.

I'm in the same boat as you - I think I'm a little burned out after playing DD continuously since 2020. I gave SDS the benefit of the doubt for 2023 with the whole "Sets" thing. I actually thought the WBC set was pretty fun. Then, everything from there was repetitive. I've seen negativity here and there on the forum in the past, but it reached a crescendo this year. Bummer.

Enjoy the PS5! Makes a huge difference in my opinion.

Now, back to BR to earn my 27th Adley card this cycle.

I'm still having fun. I still have a baseball fix.
Usually, I'd be all into NHL, but I didn't buy '24. That's unheard of, but nothing has really changed, gameplay and trophy-wise. Maybe when it goes on sale. I've also been juggling 4 racing games atm 😁 The Crew:Motorfest, GT7, with their big update, F1 '23, and EA WRC. I work 43 hours a week as well, so I have no life 🤪

I remember working over 40 hours and being lucky to get a game in without dozing off by the 7th inning. PS Plus has helped me fill that work time and the time when the show drives me as crazy as the original poster apparently is. I have about 5 games sitting in the library waiting in the wings from PS Plus on top of the games I bought and mentioned before.
