The hitting skill gap is the widest its ever been. Thats why MOST of you dont like it.

Could it use a couple tweaks? Yeah. But its so much better than 18, 19. I dont get these fielding issues some of you get, so If pitching gets touched a little bit id say this game is in the best state its been in awhile.

I agree about the hitting gap. I simply can’t hit anymore. When I play a better player, I lose pretty handily. When I play someone of equal skill, the game is Essentially 1-0 with a combined thirty strikeouts. I don’t mind the former part, but the latter is what’s frustrating. Maybe they should make two separate ranked seasons. One for elite players like you. And one for mediocre players like me so I’m not sitting in all-star trying to hit a bullet with a pencil.

Nice flex.
Personally, I don’t see where skill is involved in determining whether an outcome is good squared, good good, perfect, or good ok, but if it makes you feel better about it, sure.
-
I like the skill gap this year. I'm average, but when I can hang with people with good records, I feel ok with myself. I think pitching doesn't really need to be tweaked. Pitchers like Nolan Ryan will be all over the place. Pitchers with great control, will be effective most of the time.
-
I don't usually hit well, but i've always been able to pitch. My hitting stats are up now, but i've only played 4 ranked games and am still in RS. Won all of them all because of rage quits. The last one my opponent had several fielding "issues" and quit in the 1st inning. Fielding is still kinda crappy for competitive play. Pitching has been hit or miss. Still it doesn't take long to figure out when you're playing a better player. My last events game didn't go well. lol

I do really like the game overall, but I disagree with this post... MOST people don't like the hitting because bad swings are still being rewarded as much as good swings.
I just played a 15-inning game against a guy that was like 16-4 or something like that, and we both squared up literally dozens of balls all game long and were not rewarded. For example, I was perfect with the PCI off Oswalt several times with FOTF Josh Bell, Eddie Matthews, etc, and wasn't rewarded at all. My opponent was really good, and I'm sure he had the same experience based on how many deep flyouts he had.
How did I end up winning the game in the 15th inning? I hit a walk-off HR with Trevor Story on a fastball that I completely missed (inner PCI not even touching the ball). This is the part of the game that constantly drives me crazy (even when I was lucky enough to win this one).

IMO, this is much more of an explanation for disgruntled comments on gameplay than so called “skill gap”.
Most of us know when we are being owned by a better player. Nobody complains about that.
It’s giving up solo bombs on curveballs your opponent barely got the PCI on with Aaron Judge that irk me, personally.
I have no problem tipping my cap to a good hitter/better player.
But when that same opponent can’t hit three fastballs in a row right down Broadway, after said home run, this is where I find the game lacking.

I agree, but the people who will disagree with you will point out "how do you know your opponent barely got the PCI on the ball?".

You’re right, it’s hard to know for sure. Is the swing feedback even accurate? We don’t know.
That said, right after I gave up said home run, I wanted to test that notion.
That’s where the fastballs down the middle come in. Could my opponent have been sitting offspeed? Maybe. But if he can hit out an inside curve that barely hung, but not three fastballs down the middle, what does that say about the game?
Personally, I think it was Judge’s attributes that hit out the curveball, not my opponent.

Personally, I think you cannot trust the feedback.
Question, were you winning when Judge hit his bomb?
-
I think it was tied. Whatever. GG to my opponent.

Sure..Especially when I'm hitting a 3 perfects in a game and not a single one of them is a hit..But my opp is making late/okay HRs
Let me guess. In showdown?

The better hitter has won every game ive played so far.

You do by putting the PCI on the ball ?
-
Squaring up the ball on HOF is much harder this year, which is GREAT. However, squaring up the ball still has a nearly random outcome, which is TERRIBLE. I don't mind hitting being hard, when you can practice and get better. If you still have RNG outcomes on good swings, it makes the entire hitting system DISMAL.

Or the worst pitcher took the Big L?
