I'd be shocked if they gave it to a deserving Veteran player. They seem to gravitate to those who are creating headlines. The most veteran player that they have given it to recently was Harper, who had been in the league 7 years at that point, when he got the cover for '19.
Cabrera got it in 14 after 11.5 seasons. I think that is the most veteran they have gone with.
Elly is getting all of the headlines so I would think that they are definitely considering him. Acuna probably deserves it and is marketable enough to be in consideration.
Unless they want to bring back Pujols early and give him a cover. Who would argue with that? Going all the way back to MLB 99 there has never been a Cardinal on the cover.

De La Cruz deffinetly crossed my mind but i figgure it's too soon, give it 2 years though and he will get the Chisholm treatment.

It’ll be Acuña Jr surely to goodness…he’s the odds on favorite to win MVP in the NL and who knows what other accolades he’ll won in the playoffs and probably the World Series

Harper only got it because he was the biggest FA story of the year.
I would think Ohtani might for similar reasons but he just got a cover so maybe not. -

They did Mauer two years in a row so Ohtani could be it in a new uniform. (hopefully not, one can hope) They've never done a pitcher. Strider would be cool, but not with Acuna on the same team. I like Acuna for it. He's hot right now. Will probably win MVP. Good looking enough to put on the cover. Don Mossi would never make it.
Trout would make the fourth Angel, but his year has not been very good. (for him)
I think the most fun would Be Vlad Jr and Sr, back to back, swinging for the fences. The Angels and Blue Jays alternate uniforms would contrast very nicely.

Good point about Carl Yastremski - highly overdue to be added to this game (along with Dimaggio and Koufax).
