What’s this about the wild card? Does enabling it render other cards less effective? Is this only in a certain mode or am I completely misinterpreting the OP…if so I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised ha! Can someone set me straight pretty please

Depends on which Elly card you are trying to use and what mode.

99 Set 1 Elly Card - Can't be used in Season 3 unless he is in the Wildcard spot.

99 Set 3 Elly - Should be able to be used in the current Season 3 without needing to be a wildcard

94 Topps Now Elly - This is Set 3 and can also be used in the current Season 3 without needing to be a wildcard

79 Live series - This is a core card and can be used without restriction.
To answer the question in your Title. Season 6 is the next season that can use anyone without any restrictions. Problem is that may be January.
Also some Conquests (USA Map for example), Some Mini Seasons and Play VS CPU have no restrictions and you should be able to make any team you want and play those.

Yeah the wild card doesn’t mess with other cards. Do you play much online? Many of the offline programs you don’t even need to use a wild card because you can use any. Team Affinity you need to use set 2 or 3 for progress.
I still don’t quite understand why the wild card doesn’t get you progress for TA. To me, that defeats the point. If I’m playing CPU, the only reason to use any card is for progress in PXP so why have a wild card that does nothing? My two cents.

It sounds like you want to use the Topps Now Elly card. That's in set 3. You likely have it set for set 1 or 2 if it's making you use it as your WC.
Go to where you switch for teams and look to where it says S1, S2, or S3. If it says S3 you should be fine unless It's the Elly S1 99ovr card. Any way around it, you can just go to the settings to the right of the team name.
Generate best team without the S1-S3 on it and you should be good to go.

I’ve had myself convinced for some time that something I’ve been doing has been causing my players fielding to drop from diamond down to gold. I tell ya Im just sure if it! I really thought I had solved it when it saw this OP. The fact that the most recent incident that occurred was my 3B just added to my confusion along with the NyQuil. I apologize if it appears like I’m not sincere because I truly am…that’s a real problem with text and me. I thought maybe the phenomenon was being induced by my use of the wild card or something. I know it’s sounds stupid but to someone like me who is diametrically opposed to using social media and have never watched a stream of any kind besides my own urine, the only source I use for this game is this forum and you guys. I’ve learned so much in the six months I’ve been playing the show but am still clueless so that’s fun

Thank you my friend! This gives me closure on that and I was needing it rather badly after that marathon conquest session I had just went thru for the extreme map. I’ve only played 3 games online…i played a friendly with @Blind_Bleeder and I did two other games for the egg and that’s the sum of my experience there…it’s just not for me is all - was thinking we might share this trait along with the many others. I had been using the WC on occasion just to pitch with my best Dontrelle card and I also like to let him get his ABs in as well as he was always such a great hitting pitcher, and with this info you’ve given me now I’ll just disable the S3 filter and pick whomever I want. I thank you very very much for this!

Thank you for that spread sheet you sent to me via discord. I had honestly forgotten about having that app until I came across a notification that said you had sent it…strangely it just popped up on my iPad yesterday or the day before though lol!
I’m so intimidated by this TA stuff I don’t even have a clue how it all works and what rewards I’ve gotten from it have nearly all came from (I guess) just accidentally having someone in my lineup that generated me some points in it…oh and the MTO mode that you introduced me to. I don’t have a single completed division for any of the seasons and I swear it seems like I keep getting points in the s1 program over all the others but ain’t sure as to why. I’ve been saving it for last but I’m about to finish WBC moments which is my last program (not counting extreme of course) so I’m going to have to face the music soon -
@BxnnyMxn__PSN If you stick a fielder in a secondary position, their fielding will drop. You might have some fielders who are right on the edge of diamond and that's why you see them drop. Also, why are you using a wildcard for offline play? You can have all S1 cards if you want.
Maybe it’s time to switch out the NyQuil for cough syrup…or Listerine?

No partner, it won’t affect me one bit it’s only a useful shortcut coming from the cove but I’ve not been up there in a decade I’m ashamed to say even though it’s right there about 4 miles from me by way of bird. There’s a cave up there that used to serve as a bears den and have had several encounters up there myself over the years and I assure you, I don’t mess around when it comes to black bear. I had one to rip a poor old dog to pieces right in front of me before and the dog gave it ten times the fight I could’ve.

I’ve only seen it from a distance and only once at that lol. It’s funny but being a 50 year resident of this area you tend to avoid the areas where most people that are visiting are looking most forward to going…I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. It’ll always be home to me but it’s feeling less and less like that with the more stuff that goes up.
My first job real job that wasn’t hauling hay or putting up tobacco (backy) was at Dollywood believe it or not…i started there first with having to turn a hog on a spit but quickly graduated to the pork rind kettle. I was 15 and 16 while I worked there and could tell you stories for hours about the mischief I got meself into there lol but all that to say I’ve not stepped foot into Pigeon Forge in nearly two decades and only drive thru it during COVID simply to see what the place looked like empty.
Still, it’s a boon for the area and has provided lots of jobs and the thought has even crossed my mind of seeing what kind of part time work I might get meself into on the side.

The reason, as is coming perfectly clear to me, is because I am a bafoon! It just seems like when I add Willis or Big Train to my squad they become wild carded…perhaps I’m doing it by accident somehow? I had forgotten about the 2nd pos drop as well…I think my head is too full of other junk like superalloys and vacuum furnace recipes and I’d much rather have the show info working for me so i could stop having such a crappy squad lol!
I wish I had upvotes especially for that listerine suggestion as my 15yr old daughter told me the other day that my breath smelled like a wolfs vaheena lol which I imagine is pretty horrid haha
Edit: I just did it again…I went to manage squad, turned off filters, swapped out Tom Seaver for Dontrelle and it goes to a side screen that says “activate as wild card” and won’t let me choose him otherwise. If I hit circle to go back instead of choosing WC then it’s back to Seaver?

I myself like Gatlinburg and frequent Ol Smokies while I'm there to pick up their Peanut Butter Whiskey. It's the best and whoever came up with that recipe should receive some sort of award hahaha. But yes I know what you mean. In just a year from 2021 there were more people there last year than the year before and it has seemed to get even bigger.

Go to Generate Best Squad (not Best S3 Squad) and then you will be out of the S3 mode and can use whatever card you have.
