Now, there seems to be more steam for a potential trade to send Arenado to LA. According to Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times, the Dodgers have "engaged in talks with the St. Louis Cardinals to acquire the eight-time All-Star third baseman, according to people with knowledge of the situation."

    also excerpted from mlb.com

That would give the Dodgers a loaded but packed infield having just acquired Rosario and Kiki Hernandez

Dodgers infielders if that trade happens

    Arenado
    Rosario
    Kiki Hernandez
    Miguel Rojas
    Max Muncy
    Freddie Freeman

Angels are acquiring Lucus Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez + Ohtani has been pulled off trade waivers. Looks like the Angels are making a playoff push

And am a happy camper! It finally feels like Arte is really trying with now being over the luxury tax. Their play in Detroit has been phenomenal. Ohtani getting a complete game one hitter shutout in the first game of a double header and 2 HRs in the second. 2 errors in the 9th on Tuesday was tough to watch, but they still got the win. Add Brand Hand (his left on left numbers are crazy) and maybe another bull pen arm plus a middle infielder and they're set.

Now I want to see the halos get Snell and Hader from SD. Too expensive, I know, but stranger things have happened and if they're willing to listen to offers on Soto just a year later...

I hope they make a run, if they make it one of Toronto, Houston, Tampa or Baltimore would miss the playoffs. Personally i'm hoping it's Houston. Give a new team a chance to win

Seeing Soto’s name on the list could really make things interesting. I love that the Angels are pressing ahead and going for it…that’s what it’s all about right there baby!

That potential Dodgers team that @samguenther1987 pointed out sounds extremely competitive oh I just hope some of these moves get made I’d love to see some awesome playoff baseball I just can’t wait to see how it all plays out!

I graduated well before they were able to speak coherent sentences, but when I went to El Toro High School, we were all Angels fans. So Arenado being alright with going to the Dodgers seems weird to me. My physics teacher, Mr. Burnett did pitch for the Dodgers though.

I gotta say that just made them quite a bit nastier for the playoffs!

I use to hate Joe Kelly because he broke Ramirez's ribs in the playoffs. But when he is headhunting for your team he is awesome.

I’m seeing a bit of buzz on the wires about a potential deal that’ll send Scherzer to the Rangers…oh my this’ll be sweet for us if we get these two!

edit: sounds like it’s a done deal

How about Texas landing Montgomery from the Cardinals as well! I’m hoping to see a few more decent moves before the 1st at 6pm!

Not surprised with the Cardinal moves so far. They were expected to get rid of Montgomery and Hicks (and guess Stratton). Picked up four young pitchers and a infielder. Nothing to write home about but gives them some depth and frees up some money.

I kind of still expect them to get rid of Flaherty and maybe DeJong. Many fans, including myself, won't be sorry to see Flaherty go if he gets traded.

None of the players picked up will make much of an impact on their 2024 lineup though. The big question will be what to do with the money they free up by not extending these players, plus the added money after Wainwright retires. Since the season is a write off and we have traded one starter with the possibility of another they'll probably keep running Wainwright out there. I hope they can somehow get him the last two wins he needs for 200 in his career.

I keep hearing on the Mets games about how much Verlander loves living and being in NY so I’m starting to wonder if he’ll take off to LA or even Texas/Houston….what about Baltimore? I’m no geography expert but I know it’s decently close to NY…can you imagine if the Orioles were to pick him up? He’s definitely not the player he once was but I’d still put him as a top starter in the majors…especially his last 7-8 starts he’s been extremely solid

No surprise that Jerry Dipoto is wheelin' and dealin' today!

Sad to see Paul Sewald be traded, but AJ Pollack didn't live up to expectations.

I didn’t expect the Rays to get Civale man what a solid rotation that’ll give them. Jeimer Candelario to the Cubbies was a VERY nice pickup indeed

From the cubs perspective: the Phillies haven't played to their potential all year injuries hurt them and they are vulnerable, the Marlins can't hit,and the Reds are a fluke soon to go like the pirates, that's 3 of their competitors right there...

Very true, but the Phillies still scare me with that lineup and even then the Cubs still have to pass the Giants, Diamondbacks and Brewers. However i would love to see my favorite team make the playoffs again and maybe the Cubs can resign Candelario.
