I'll keep saying it and if I am wrong then a whole lot of people will be happy..
With Ohtani and Acuna being the top vote getters in the All-Star game for their respective leagues I believe we will see their new cards appear there and not POTM. I can't see them giving the community a freely earned Ohtani or Acuna when they could be the major draws of the All-Star program.
I know SDS has been better this year giving POTM to the actual deserving players but I still remember all the times that they skipped over deserving players for their own reasons.
I am still guessing Tatis Jr is POTM. He is a desired player by many. He had worthy numbers in June (top three in War with Ohtani and Acuna) and, unless added to replace someone, he was passed over for the All Star Game. That way Ohtani, Acuna and Tatis Jr all get 99 overall cards in the next week to replace their expiring set 1 cards.

I was thinking the same thing I hope it's Acuna....dude has been killing it lately

I really hope it’s Ohtani but I wouldn’t be disappointed if Acura got it. Let’s be honest though it would be disrespectful to Ohtani if he didn’t get it. He had a historic month hitting and pitching. Not taking anything away from Acura. He’s breaking records at the moment too. As long as it’s one or the other it’s a win.
It wouldn't be disrespectful if Ohtani didn't get it....Acuna has been on fire also plus the braves have the best record in the league right now....ohtani just got whooped by the padres the other day the angels hasn't been consistent
-
Eddie Rosario had the 2nd highest OPS in June. Luis Robert up there as well. Robert also has the 2nd most HR's. Would MUCH rather see one of those guys as the lightning card over another Ohtani.
Blake Snell had an amazing month pitching.
0.87 ERA with 0.68 WHIP
53Ks 8 BB's and just 13 hits in 31 innings. That is probably 125 H/9@MRAD2010_XBL said in June Lightning:

No lol. It is a game. Ohtani WILL win AL POTM. But that doesnt always translate to MLB TS because of previous cards.

Harris would deserve it before Acuna. With ASG and HD coming out Ohtani will probably be AS boss with Trout being team boss or vice versa. That could give way to Harris getting it because his ASG snub. Ohtani had one of the best months ever, for any year, in any sport. If Estevez made the ASG. it might be different. Acuna could easily get an ASG boss though.
Harris getting snubbed for the ASG is one of the more ridiculous things I've read in a while. Hes not remotely worthy (worthy of a good June PotM though)
Players did mess up the NL vote up bad though.
Marte -> Albies (did Bobby Cox somehow get to pick this?)
Nimmo -> Alonso (already have Olson as a second 1B and could use another OF)
Tatis -> Gurriel Jr
Steer -> Riley or Soler -

Doesn't matter for June's POTM because that happened in July

The Braves record is completely irrelevant to the POTM discussion.
Ohtani offensively smoked Acuna in every category except stolen bases.
Ohtani had
6 more HRs
1 More Run Scored
7 More RBIs
ISO 230 points higher
BA 38 points higher
OBP 63 points higher
SLG 269 points higher
wRC+ 86 points higher
Off Runs above Average 11 points Higher
WAR 1 point higher (that is a big gap for only one month)They each won the actual MLB POTM for their respective leagues but I still think SDS holds them both back so they can be the top cards in the All Star Program
-
Stop with the if he gets this card then this guy should be the fall back lightning. Bottomline it’s Ohtani. Acuna had a fantastic June but Ohtani had a historic June. This is what gets SDS in trouble. Keep it simple stupid. The player of the month gets the player of the month card. June was Ohtani.
They can’t hide another 99 Ohtani behind pack luck and collections. They did it once. They can’t…we’ll shouldn’t do it again.

Acuna is the first player ever with 20+ hrs and 40 steals at the break. He is very deserving in his own right. It's Just that Ohtani has had the greatest month in professional sports. I mean, there that.

Riley is having a down year to this point and is still a better defensive and offensive option than Steer is and his WAR supports this. Ketel Marte is having a good year however Albies is having a much better offensive season that Marte is. Ozzie is top 3 in homers and RBI’s in and plays a serviceable second base defense. Tatis is still being punished for the PED suspension so he just needs to take his medicine and give it a year to let people get over his betrayal. As far as Harris is concerned, his injuries have hurt his production for much of the season however he is still the best CF defender in the league and It wouldn’t be a bold statement to call him the best CF in baseball now that Buxton doesn’t play defense anymore. And if his June is a glimpse of the rest of the year he might be the best 9 hole hitter in baseball. All Star snub is a stretch but not that much of a stretch.

Ohtani had 1 WAR higher than Acuna but Acuna doesn’t pitch either. If you were to remove his pitching WAR it would have been significantly closer do to the fact that Acuna collected like 20 stolen bases last month. Truthfully I think Michael Harris had a better month than Acuna did.

Man, I just checked Fangraphs for June and I am not sure how you come to that conclusion. Harris outdid Acuna in only on category and that was AVG.
Acuna had more HRs, Runs, RBIs, SB, ISO, OBA, SLG, wRC+, and offensive runs above average than Harris.

You’re right it is just a game and that fact alone makes it anything goes but as for baseball stats Ohtani deserves a little more. Also side note I jist realized the whole time my comment said Acura. Lol how did no one call me out on that, lol I fixed it now but autocorrect did me dirty.

Albies 2.8 WAR, .841 OPSNimmo 2.3 WAR, .833 OPS (a true all star snub)
Harris 1.4 WAR, .749 OPS (may be better by the end of the year, but nothing close to a snub)The Braves already have Murphy, Arcia, Acuna, Olson, Elder, Strider. Thats a proper representation for the best team in baseball. They dont need Riley and Albies, the former having a borderline all star year and the latter is having a strong season but is outclassed by another player
And to be fair, Arcia doesn't deserve it based on stats, but the fans had their say and I'd even be cool with it if he were a reserve because he is having a career year and this may be his only shot vs a guy like Lindor who is having a down year even if his oWAR and dWAR are each half a game better.

You’re only looking at one aspect of Harris’ game. Michael Harris saved several ballgames defensively. Which is as important as the offensive side of things. And in my opinion Acuna and Harris are defensive equals just not last month. I religiously follow that team and the eye test was that Harris had a better all around month than Acuna. Now I get it, offense is what people tune into to watch and being a Braves fan I am as giddy as the next about how elite that team is offensively but I’m an old school guy to and I enjoy the other side of the game as much. I’m am certainly not say that Harris is the better player at this point and time in his career but he certainly has the potential to be as good or better as he navigates his MLB career provided he can stay healthy.

The only reason I'll guess Ohtani is that his Set 1 WBC card becomes "Obsolete" at 3:00 pm EST on Friday. Maybe they want to replace one 99 with another?

Since when are defensive metrics used for POTM awards, either in real life or in the game.
That said though, I think I posited in another thread that Harris may be more likely to get a card in the POTM program than Acuna. A lot of the top POTM prospects are also in the all-star game and may get all star cards instead. There were only 3 players in the top 10 WAR for June that were not all-stars and Harris was one of those.

But could they not do that less than a week later with an all-star card? He was the top vote getter.
Acuna loses his 97 Friday as well and Tatis loses his 99. I still say that you give Ohtani and Acuna two 99 overall all-star cards and make Tatis your Lightning player and all three are then set for the next 3-4 months.

100% true. So I'll go with you on Tatis (SDS "homer") and 99 AS cards for Acuna and Ohtani... behind a pack (rare round)... gasp!

To be fair about your Arica argument, he missed a month plus after breaking his hand on a hbp. So he is missing a months worth of production against Lindor who absolutely has no business being in the conversation for an all star appearance. Arica has been the better player throughout the season in comparison to Lindor on both sides of the ball. I believe someone mentioned earlier this week that Arica is still the only Shortstop this year who has not committed a throwing error and if you saw the play he made last night where he made a no look throw from the center infield cut of grass to gun out Steven Kwan, who is not a slow man, you might have a different opinion of who the better shortstop really is.
