Expiring Cards is absolutely ridiculous

They were pretty transparent about this change from the get go

They had streams about it.

I agree they were but they also said it was a trial and error thing to see how it worked out
Like I said earlier I didn’t really think about it in the beginning bc it seemed so far away and I guess in the back of my mind I thought- “they wouldn’t do that”
And obviously that wasn’t the smartest on my part
But then seeing how heavy the offline grind is this year and the season coming to an end in about a month it really made me think about it more as of late
And I stand by what I said- it’s absolutely ridiculous to grind/spend for a 99 cracked card
Then not being able to use said card and then having to do that grind or spend money all over again for pretty much the same exact card all over again lol
It doesn’t even make sense when I say it out loud
-
The content is only gonna get better so I wouldn’t sweat it.

Exactly, no reason to get bent out of shape about something that hasn’t even happened yet. I’m about to unlock the Big Unit with 10 more set two cards, and it will immediately replace a set one card, which even if I could use all year, I may never use again.

The issue isn’t if the content will be great or not
The issue is being FORCED to have cards your grinded for be absolutely irrelevant in a month or so
Just picture if you grinded season one for chipper, babe and Pedro
You can literally only use one of them next month and that’s only if you decide to make one of them your wildcard over your other cards at that
That’s wayyyyyyy too much grinding to have the cards you grinded for be irrelevant
And I don’t think you’re going to get much better than chipper or babe- maybe equal but not better… if anything might be slightly better
Chipper and Babe are pretty much maxed out lol
Babe is 100% maxed out.

It’s almost like people constantly whined about the game being the same year after, so they changed it. Weird.
It's almost like they had the same programs year over year and just released the same players every year. Baseball has had so many great players over the years. It shouldn't be that hard. Also, every card being a 99 is just corny. That's not what anyone asked for. We've been asking for gameplay fixes since like mlb 20 and they haven't touched a thing

No they said the trial and error thing to see how it worked out was about captains, not sets

Then don’t play, don’t buy stubs, and don’t buy the game anymore. Hit ‘em where it hurts.

I’m willing to wait and see how it plays out.

Ok I’m able to say when I was mistaken which I was about the trial and error.. I believe
But I do remember them being pretty ambiguous about what further seasons/sets would consist of
So if I’m never able to use these set one cards again what’s the purpose of keeping them? What was the purpose of grinding for them and building their stats
Are they just going to make my Griffey and trout from season one obsolete and then turn around and gives us another griffey and trout that I need to pay/grind for again
These are my questions/gripes with this whole thing

I get what you are saying, but I think this is the age we live in. Games are modeled after mobile games which are designed to keep people playing and spending currency.
No that’s exactly what it is and it’s really frustrating- it’s a money grab
Like I bought the BR reward Griffey- so now in a month I won’t be able to use him but they will come out with a new 99 Griffey that I either have to grind for or pay more money for
I’m almost disgusted with this- sorry if it sounds like I just woke from a coma but this really didn’t hit me in the earlier months of the game bc we were able to use any cards we like
I'm guessing that new Griffey will be in another 75k bundle that you have less than a 1% chance of getting. Enjoy!

So what.
Your hypothesis, is that people's complaints caused this year's content format? Even if it was, that is still no acceptable excuse.
SDS alone, is responsible for this ca$h grabbing, Set expiring, content trash.

SDS is a for profit company. They intend to make money. Sounds like your problem is with free market capitalism.

Silly comment. No one says they do not have the right. However, in order for them to have long term financial success, like any company, they should care about their product and consumer feedback.

I completely agree it’s stupid. Really stupid. I’m not sure what they were thinking. I could see different seasons and sets but restricting the cards and then only giving us one wildcard. Maybe if it was one wildcard per set it would be better. This doesn’t help lineup diversity at all. It makes it much worse.

I agee with OP....such an asinine rule.
However, this is financially beneficial to them, at least in the short term...
Since you cannot use expired cards in RS games, people will be more willing to buy stubs, as another method of replacing those expiring cards. This is nothing compared to the greed at EA. Try playing Madden - totally pay to win. Much better over here….

So now we’re ok with “at least it’s not madden”?
Madden shouldn’t be our barometer because it never was… this game/community has always been much better than madden
Saying “well madden is worse” does not make me feel better. At all
