Amen. Straw also tops my list of the best teammate to have on your side if the benches clear! I still consider him to be the smartest player in the history of baseball due to the fact that all other batters throw down their bat when they get beaned and THEN charge the mound…not our boy Darryl! You put a pump-knot on him with the ball and he gives one back with his bat hahahahaha
Remember that? Think it was more than once even

Someone around here with some street cred in this forum should do a ‘top 5 or 10 ball players that you’d hate to face in a brawl’.
I’d probably put Mike Tyson as my number one because, well, you know….just in case.
You know, I remember reading a SI article back in the mid 80s about Tyson and it said he once had a sparring partner that involuntarily shat himself when one of his uppercuts missed by an inch. He didn’t even make contact and dudes TURDS even knew to get the heck out of there!

Tyson was a Ballplayer?
Didn’t want to take any chances in case ever was.
I know. My joke was ruined the instant it came to me but I had to try. What can I say? I was thinking back to strawberry in his glory days, then I thought of the time he knocked dude out in the dugout, then Tyson popped in…the rest was ALL me baby.
I’ll go ahead and issue a voluntary cease and desist order on my attempts at humor. Hey no wonder my dad was the only one that ever laughed at his jokes…im a chip off the old block

For the Mariners...
- Ichiro
- Alvin Davis
- Dan Wilson
- Jamie Moyer
- Jay Buhner (I don't think he is in the game this year)
5.1. If Buhner is still in the game, #5 would be Dae Ho Lee
I kind of miss Tino Martinez but it's a solid 5.
Oh yeah, Tino is a great choice!

Robin Ventura would NOT make the list, but Nolan Ryan would be the #1 pitcher!
-
Kyle Farnsworth would be one not to fight.

Fun trivia note: This pic is NOT from the aftermath of the Ventura beatdown. This pic was from when he took a Bo Jackson line drive to the face.

Magglio OrdonezThis is an incredible list also! Has TheShow ever honored Guillermo ‘willie’ Hernandez with a card? Now THERE is a Tiger! He played havoc with that wicked cutter (no one called it that back then) and physics defying screwball. Pretty sure he’s on a very short list of hurlers that earned the Cy Young despite pitching exclusively in relief. I’d also venture that this next list that he’s on is even shorter…which is a full-time reliever who won the Cy Young, the League MVP, and the World Series in the same year (1984). Surely he’s all alone on this list?
Ahh Sweet Lou Whitaker…man he was a delight to watch field the baseball at 2B

Ha! Yes, it was! He is a beast for taking that shot and still continue pitching. That is the second reason why he would be my number 1 pitcher for a brawl. The first reason is that he was able to put Ventura in a head lock and dish out some punches to his face and not get bloodied in that fight!

He said "favorite team". He didn't say it had to be an MLB team...
(I would have added Mason Katz & Raph Rhymes to the list if they had ever actually made the majors...)
