Thoughts on POTM

The best card in the whole bunch is captain Santana. Switch hitting card with high contact, solid power vs righties, great power vs lefties, 125 clutch

I did look at him again after I made this post. He does look really good too. He might not be the best defensive catcher but he will score some runs.

Push comes to shove, he could be a decent DH or even better pinch hitter with runners in scoring position

They must have plans to release better cards for them at a later date. Acuna, Gray, Muncy, Kersh, etc. were too good to be forgotten.
Kersh, for example, will probably get a 200 win Milestone card soon. -

None of these cards make my squad…But I’ll finish the program for future collections. Like Bad Santa said - “They can’t all be winners now can they?”
-
Acuna was only one I would’ve been excited for. Knew it would be Chapman, because that’s the disappointment I’m used to with POTM.

I think you can find a spot for Alvarado at least. TBH there’s a few pretty decent cards in this program. I hit parallel V with WBC Trout so he’s going in my bench, I wish would’ve gotten Acura or another decent outfielder. I guess I’ll buy Griffey. -

I feel ya. Chapman really isn’t bad. They gave him pretty good speed too which is nice so he’ll play a good SS too if you need one.

They forgot Jonah Heim’s hair. Lol

Pretty much the way they always done it. Big stars that either have 90s or are gonna have high 90s are kinda useless to give potm cards. Give it to the guys that won't.

Yeah, at @Dolenz_PSN stated in another thread. Goldy, Judge and Arenado got like 6 combined POTM in real life last year and never got a lightning card. But they all got super juiced 99s. Cole, Gray, Muncy and Acuna will get huge cards this year

I always find it fascinating when people put Muncy in the same conversation with other stars of the game. The guy finished below the mendoza line last year and is a lifetime .231 hitter

This is where I’m supposed to act indignant and argue with you…..but you are 100% correct. Muncy is totally a typical modern day slugger. Home runs, walks and Ks. He’s not in the same league as an Acuna and not in the same universe as Kershaw. My guess is he’ll get a Home run derby card if he participates this year or maybe something equivalent. But yeah, he’s no star.

Well I appreciate that and I wasn’t giving you a hard time about it because it’s like a common theme around here. People just seem to overhype Muncy in general. How you described him is pretty accurate and it seems like those kind of players are a dime a dozen nowadays

Absolutely. He’s my resident least favorite Dodger haha. Yeah I know you weren’t. Just making fun of how sensitive a lot of people get when you simply state an opinion. A correct one.

I think being that they set one and not core, there wasn’t a point in giving us Acuna, and maybe some of the others will be getting High diamonds off the rip in set 2
-
Best cards IMO are:
Santana
Arraez
Cano
Alvarado
Alex Young
SteeleBeing honest I am unimpressed with Chapman, he is just another 3B.
