What happens at the end of the season?

I'm still confused on the seasons. Are there cards that will be in my binder that will disappear once the season is over, or will they just be no longer available for the rest of the year to acquire?

You just can’t use certain cards in season 3 they said the season 1 cards will still be usable next season. And no the cards don’t disappear you just can’t use them online for example

Season 1 you use Core and Set 1 cards
Season 2 you can use Core, Set 1 and Set 2
Season 3 You can use Core, Set 2 and Set 3 (set 1 becomes ineligible for ranked and various other modes)You probably won't be able to acquire them through the programs anymore but since many are sellable I assume they can still be purchased. I gotta assume they will be cheap when they can't be used in Ranked Seasons anymore.

Should I try to stock up on some before the season ends and prices go up?

I’d really like to know if at any point, Set 1 cards will be usable again later in the year. Or are they basically just useless after July? It seems odd to me that they would have this many good cards be unusable for 10 months of the year.

Nobody knows for sure. There has been a lot of speculation but SDS has not confirmed anything.
My speculation is that if they become eligible again at all that it won't be until the very end of the cycle, after the postseason.

They haven't given a ton of detail about it but the season 1 cards are not completely unusable after season 3 starts. You still have them and can use them vs cpu and the wild card spot will let you use 1 card from an older set still.
I would not be surprised to see events that allow you to use cards from older sets later in the year. Something like set 1 and 2 pitchers against set 3 and 4 hitters for example. And I would expect after the postseason all cards will be usable but that is just a guess

I’d actually think season 1 cards may end up going up in prices. Expect between people locking in cards and then no longer being able to earn them, they’d go up in price. But a whole new structure this year so who knows?!?

Unless they make them usable again there would be no reason for people to acquire them after season 2. Yeah, you could finish a collection but those collection rewards are also set 1.
Maybe if you are a person with more stubs than you know what to do with or someone who just has to earn every card then there might be a reason, but for your average player it would be a huge waste of stubs.
I would not be surprised to see Set 1 cards flooding the market in the weeks leading up to season 3.
