I think the new seasons concept could be great

Some people are freaking out thinking that certain players will disappear as a season ends. It’s cards that are restricted. All it means is that they will most likely release a better version of a player as the seasons progress. How many people used the crappy 99 Griffey after the good one was released? On the flip side how many people would have used the crappy one if it were released on day one when the cards all weren’t stacked. Just because they say 99 are out on day one doesn’t mean they are stacked 125 across the board 99s. It’s probably the crappy Griffey 99 which would stand up great against a lot of live series lineups. Then a better one is released in later seasons. Most people retire cards naturally on their ranked seasons teams as better cards come out. I honestly think this is just a way to get more cards out early in the game cycle.

My take is that it could be a seperate mode.
They said each season will run 6-8 weeks but never mentioned going beyond Season 3.
You can play Seasons Mode and be regulated to using certain cards and you can play as you normally play with any card. Two seperate modes.

I don't like it for a multitude of reasons. But the most funny to me is the argument that this will push people to use variety in their lineups and not everyone will use the same team. Well, restricting cards does kind of the opposite.

That would be tough considering we already added ranked co-op, so 3 ranked type seasons seems way to much

I think they made it very clear that it applies everywhere except br, vs cpu, and casual.
I also don’t see the huge deal since it doesn’t even come into play at all until July and even then only restricts out cards from April (most of which you wouldn’t still be playing with anyways).
-
I am stoked about this year but admittedly, don’t understand the purpose of this. I don’t think it’s negative, but what exactly is it promoting. If set 1 is available for the first two seasons and Core is always available, nothing really Gomes into play until July. I think the mentioned Core would include the All Star cards and I’m sure set 3 will be better than set 1. So really all that happens is in season 3, replace 1 with 3. Like I said- I don’t understand the point or how this affects anything: I’m not upset in the slightest about it. I just don’t get what all the fuss is about.

I hope you are right, but I have my doubts about that.

Yea I think in practice, its not much of a change. There are very few people still using cards they got in April in July. I think when people first heard this, they assumed the end game Griffey or Mays would drop in the first season and then go away by season 3. They will probably drop a rookie Griffey in season 1 and then a milestone or retro finest Griffey in season 2 or 3. Nobody would care that the first one went away. Im sure by the end of the cycle all of the best cards will still be there.

In past years a lot of people probably wouldn’t use the old cards, but this year with more 99s coming out early, I think this will make a bigger impact than you think.
I also don’t get the “won’t be a problem til July”. I’m hoping to play a game for more than 4 months personally.

Instead of adding new modes, fix the multiple issues the games has. As someone who has played this franchise since 06, I feel since 2018 the game has reverted. People bag on EA and madden but the show is doing the same thing. Add a few new features but the game is still mid or downright horrendous.

I agree, I certainly don’t want this to fall off right in the middle of the season. But think about it. Season 3 will start right as the all Star game, Home run Derby and Field of Dreams happen so either all of those cards will be set 3 and most likely the best cards available at the time or they’ll be Core and useable anytime. We know the Live Series collection cards are Core so many of those will be top cards.
But I absolutely agree. If they are dropping 99s from the beginning and any really good ones are set 1, that will be a bummer.

I see you keep suggesting it. They explained it pretty clearly in the last stream, seasons is NOT a separate mode. “In season” cards are used in Ranked, conop ranked and timed conquest maps.
-
Also: You saw it on screen that it goes beyond season 3
-
Just another unnecessary change, IMHO. We’ll see how it works, I guess.
-
The only way it will be bad is if you’re stuck using cards you’re not good with, however I think as the year goes on they will allow more wild card slots and it makes me think also they’re going to be adding cards daily so we may see more and more cards enter the game, thus it may not be a big problem.
-
Just more changes no one asked for, instead of spending that time to fix gameplay issues, they made unnecessary changes. Why listen to the community when you can just listen to Ramone?
