The Negro Leagues are an important part of baseball and American history, whose iconic figures are not nearly as well-known as other baseball players of the era. We plan to use MLB The Show as a gateway to expose new generations of baseball fans to these historic figures and their stories of triumph over adversity.
You might be asking yourself how will we accomplish such a daunting task? Enter “Storylines” * a new game experience in MLB The Show 23. Focused on a particular player, users will experience an entertaining narrative journey through short informational videos, followed by gameplay reflecting important moments in that player’s career. We could not be happier to finally introduce the Negro Leagues into MLB The Show ! It’s a special project for San Diego Studio and we are so grateful and appreciative to be partnering with the families of the players, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and NLBM President Bob Kendrick to bring these stories to life in a video game.
MLB The Show 23 (Storylines Season 1 *) introduces eight Negro League Players and their stories, narrated by Bob Kendrick. With this multiyear partnership with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum our goals align with the museums to Educate, Enlighten, and Inspire by celebrating the rich history of the Negro Leagues. Every new launch of MLB The Show represents a new Season, with it we’ll introduce a new group of Negro League Legends and their stories to pay rightful tribute to these mostly unknown baseball superstars. MLB The Show 23 represents the inaugural season and next year’s game would be season 2.
The Season 1 roster for MLB The Show 23 includes: Leroy “Satchel” Paige, Jackie Robinson, Andrew “Rube” Foster, Hilton Smith, Hank Thompson, John Donaldson, Martin Dihigo, and John Jordan “Buck” O’Neil.

There's no mention of Diamond Dynasty at all and Storylines has its own separate menu. Here's hoping they didn't drop the ball on this by not adding Negro League cards to Diamond Dynasty...
-
Yeah, I just read it. I hope the same. I do think storylines will be a separate program but like you said, hopefully they’ve added them to DD . Was hoping this a part of DD but I looks like a separate program.

Stream this thursday, we ll find out about it then. my thoughts are that rewards during the course of it will be cards for use in DD.

My concern is that they dont mention anything about rewards. I may be wrong and we might get a card on completion but how would that work considering the low diamonds are pretty much useless after the first month?
Im kinda thinking this is gonna be a MTO kinda thing where we complete the story and get program XP but like you said, we'll find out Thursday.

More moments…

I see these as moments with cut scenes in between
-
A few of the screenshots appear to have KC Municipal Stadium in the background so hopefully that means we are getting new retro ballparks.

Safe to say these players will be in Diamond Dynasty... Jackie Robinson has been a staple in Diamond Dynasty so I'd imagine SDS won't miss the opportunity to put the rest of this years Negro League players in DD mode. Only thing that sucks is that these appear to be the only Negro League players this year. But this is also how the legends started with 1 legend per team in MLB 15 The Show. As long as they keep these Negro League players in 24 when they release the roster for season 2 I'm cool and hopefully the season 2 roster will be larger.

I'm hoping it isnt like storylines from 2019. They had a Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Bryce Harper and 2016 Cubs. The moments/missions were very hard and the cards were not worth it and really only helped to unlock the Honus Wagner card that year

I’m guessing it will be exactly this

On The Show website where they have the description for Storylines.
"Be sure to join us this Thursday (2/9) for a deep dive into the new mode Storylines with special guest Negro Leagues Baseball Museum President Bob Kendrick. You can watch the episode on Twitch and YouTube or watch on-demand at your own convenience as we get closer to launch."

My take. Seperate Tab like how they have Moments on the main menu.
They will work as the following.
You play through a series of Moments and Missions.
There will be four versions of each player available in this mode. Bronze, Silver, and Gold that you need to unlock by completing missions and moments. Once you get all the missions and moments complete you unlock a low Diamond version of said player. All cards are non sellable.
Then later in the year they will most likely introduce a higher diamond version.
Now, will you be able to do all the players at once or will they be spaced out throughout the year? Or will the be like the Jackie program a few years back where each part was unlocked later in the games cycle. (think Monthly Programs).
-
Finally bringing the NL players into the game but keeping them segregated from the DD cards would be unbelievable irony. No chance they do that.

Thanks. It seems like it's a stream just for that. I though maybe they put up the schedule where they list the weekly streams leading up to release day. I think the first one last year was 'upgrades' to hitting and the last one was wants new to DD.
