I start Ohtani. Now let's say in the 7th inning I want to move him to the OF and have the reliever take the OF spot in the lineup. How do I do this?

Don't schedule a pitcher to come in. When you go to pick someone in the bullpen, choose double switch option. It will then ask for which slot to put him in.

It’s surprising how many people don’t understand double switches, despite them being a very common managerial tactic.

But it when I pick the OF it then goes to the bench as who it thinks I want to replace the OF with, it doesn't give me the option of using Ohtani as the OF. I can't have Ohtani move to the OF or else the OF would be pitching and (I assume) would have to face 3 batters.

Its a common tactic for replacing your catcher, for example, not for keeping the pitcher in the game at another position.

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to do that in this game. I can't even pinch-hit with Ohtani without being forced to pitch with him the next inning. He automatically appears on the mound when the inning is over. They really need to fix Ohtani's usage options.

If you warm him up in the pen and then pinch hit him does he come in warm?

You have to know where you are in your lineup. I only use him if a game is going to extra innings, so if I want him to bat in the ninth and pitch going forward I have to insert him in the eighth. Pitchers warming up in the bullpen cannot be used as pinch hitters and I don't think he stays warmed up if you pull him from the pen and then immediately pinch hit with him.

Relax, he’s a Yankees fan. He doesn’t have to worry about that level of thinking.

Substitute a RP for your outfielder. Swap Positions with that OF. Ohtani is now in the outfield and you have a pitcher pitching. They used to start with no Stamina and I've never tried this year so I don't know if they still do. Your other option is to swap Ohtani with the outfielder you want to take out of the game. However, with the knew pitching rules, this OF will now have to pitch to three batters. Probably with 0 Stamina. I'd rather have an actual pitcher out there with 0 stamina than a position player. A double switch won't work because a double switch is used to leave the player that pinch hit for the pitcher in the game. You're not pinch hitting for the pitcher.

Why would facts be relevant to a Yankee hater? Should have known.

Hm, I don’t recall saying I hate the Yankees.

For the Show 20 in DD you can not have him both pitch and play the field in the same game, because it will not let you swap positions with the pitcher. You can in other modes.

This isnt a complete answer but it answers one of the problems. When you pinch hit Ohtani, you have to warm up another pitcher AND "schedule to put in game" before the half inning is up. Otherwise you'll have a tired Ohtani facing 3 batters the next inning

That is actually helpful, thanks for the info.

National League UberGeniuses understand the strategic intrinsic nature of the high level double switch at a level that the average American League Cave Dweller couldn't possibly fathom. those blockheads just think grug hit ball far
